Chapter 22 - New Job offer

Jades Pov:

Most of my family is now here, except for my parents. I'm really worried that mom won't like Lauren.

She's very overprotective and tests all my girlfriends. Not one passed moms test before. They either broke up with me while mom tested them or after that.

I just don't want to lose Lauren because of this.

But I'm really happy that the rest of my family likes her.

The bell then suddenly rang and I quickly walked over to the door.

My mom immediately pulled me into a hug and so did dad." Happy birthday, honey." mom said with a wide smile.

"Thanks, mom." I replied with a smile. She and dad then walked in and I closed the door behind them.

They walked over to the rest of the family and greeted them while I walked over to Lauren.

"Hey." she said with a smile which made me smile too.

"Hey you too." I replied while placing my hands on her chest.

"How's your birthday so far?" Lauren asked and I smiled.

"Pretty good." I responded and she smiled.

"But um..my mom does always test my girlfriends if their good enough for me and they usually break up with me after that.." I told her and bite my lip.

"Well I won't break up with you because your mom is a bit scary. And I'll past her test." She replied which made me smile.

I then leaned in and kissed her softly. She slowly wrapped her arms around my waist and pulled me closer. I pulled away and smiled at her.

"So..who's this?" I suddenly hear mom and we quickly pulled away.

"Um..mom,dad this is Lauren. My girlfriend." I stated and Lauren gave them a shy smile.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." she said and shook hands with dad.

"Pleasure to meet you too." dad responded with a small smile.

"So..how long have you been together?" mom asked.

"In a few days, a month." Lauren answered and mom slowly nodded.

"How old are you?" she asked while crossing her arms.

"I'm 18." Lauren replied and mom scoffed.

"So you're dating a child?" mom asked shocked.

"What? She's not a child." I responded and crossed my arms too.

"She's 18, Jade." she said and I scoffed.

"She isn't a child, mom. We're three years apart. You and dad are five years apart." I replied angrily and Lauren placed her hand on my back which calmed me down a bit.

"Your father and I met each other after college. That's different." mom stated and I rolled my eyes.

"Just because you were older when you met doesn't make anything different. When you were 18, he was 23."I said and mom was about to say something but Lauren did instead.

"Mrs. Flamming, please give me at least a chance to show you that I'm a good girlfriend for Jade. She told me what happened to her past girlfriends when they met you and I'm not like them. I like Jade too much to even think about leaving her. So please give me a chance to prove myself that I'm the right one for your daughter." Lauren said which made me smile.

Mom hesitated at first but then said with a sigh, "Okay."

"You're actually the first one who told me that." she added which made Lauren smile.

"I'm only telling the truth. I like your daughter very much and I would love to get your approval." Lauren told her and mom smiled a bit.

"Well..I like you so far." mom said which made me smile widly.

"I'll see you around." she added and then walked to my auntie.

Lauren then turned with a wide smile which made me smile. "She likes me?" she asked stunned and I chuckled.

"You're the first one she likes." I told her and her smile grew.

She then placed her hands on my hips and pulled me closer. She leaned in and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around her neck and pulled her even closer.

We then pulled away and she placed her chin on my shoulder. My phone then suddenly started to ring so Lauren pulled away.

"I have to take this." I told her and she nodded. I then walked outside and picked up.

"Hello, this is Jade Flemming?" I said.

"This is Mr. Elias, I'm the principal of (the school where Lauren is going) and I heard about your dancing talent and wanted to ask you if you want to do the choreography for our senior dance this year? The seniors are doing a performance and we only have a bit over a month." he said and I was stunned.

"I- I would love to." I responded with a wide smile.

"Awesome!" he replied enthusiastically.

"The practice is every Wednesday and Friday at 6pm until one week before the dance. Can you make a choreography until Wednesday?" he continued and I bite my lip.

I'll have to work on the choreography a lot which means I can't hang out with Lauren that much..

"Of course." I replied.

"Great! We'll talk about the financial stuff in person, can you come to my office on Monday?" Mr.Elias asked.

"Sure." I responded.

"Um..but the thing is..I'm dating a girl who's a senior. Is that a problem?" I asked and then bite my lip.

"No, of course not. First because you're not a teacher and second, you're only there temporarily so it's fine." he responded and I exhaled in relief.

"Okay, great." I said with a smile.

"Awesome! So yeah see on Monday  Ms. Flamming." he replied and I said goodbye too before hanging up.

Looks like I'm going to see my girl more often in school now.
