Road Outside LandingTown into MidGale City, Nightway
SAVAGE JAXSON
âTheyâre there.â Phalanx pointed out the three carriages circled in the clearing. They rested on their bellies peering over a grassy hill. âEasy pickings.â
Savage watched. Face unreadable.
He heard the tall blonde man giving directions. Recognizing him from the year past. In this same locationâ¦
âBe careful men.â The one called Sebastian cautioned. Outlining the plan to have three drivers. Himself, Boy, and Alazar each running rein. With two hearty sailors on each carriage to protect the goods.
Well planned. Savage noted.
âBe mindful. Watch for trouble.â Sebastian cautioned. âEspecially in deep Nightway.â
Which is flooded with Rebels and assassins.
They all nodded.
Sebastianâs brother, who Savage recognized as the Nauvree, grumbled about getting on the road.
Theyâre mirror images. He realized of the siblings.
Obviously unimpressed with the whole endeavor.
A shame.
Itâs a good endeavor.
They all hopped atop their respective carriages and lurched into motion. A train of vehicles. Transporting a ludicrous amount of supplies.
Phalanx was right.
âTold you it was a lot of goods.â Phalanx whispered from next to him. Crouched over the rise of a hill.
Sebastian was easily heard from the front carriage. Singing robustly as he cheerfully jostled along.
âSeems heâs over his headache.â Nauvree grumbled. Voice carrying to them on the knoll.
âLeave him be.â Savage snaked back down their side of the hill.
âLeave them be?â Phalanxâs dark brows rose incredulously.
âYea.â Savage paused his slithering to toss Phalanx a meaningful look. âI know what heâs doing with those goods. He does this every year. Weâre not interfering in his purpose.â
âOkayâ¦â Phalanx was clearly baffled. Shaking his head as he obeyed Savageâs directive and began backing down the hill as Savage had.
One at the bottom, they caught the rein of their horses. âFollow them.â Savage said. âMake sure they donât run into trouble.â
âTrouble?â
âYea. None of ours interfere with them.â
âNo assassinsâ¦â Phalanx nodded in understanding.
âStay out of sightâ¦And hearing.â Savage paused. âThey hear much better than youâd think.â
âWhat?â
âHe almost heard me following them last year.â Savage murmured. Came very close to catching me following him.
That had slightly impressed Savage since very few ever heard him. Usually only Chavias.
He knows my step.
