She exhaled, her jaw tightening. "Then, later on, we received the news that your brother was dead. The media twisted the whole story, making it seem like I humiliated him, fired him, and left him with no other choice. But that was never the truth."
The weight of her words pressed down on me, filling me with even more guilt. I felt ashamed for doubting her, for letting my emotions cloud my judgment. Without thinking, I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close.
