Kiera
Declan also had the power to teleport or something. He used Justine's power against her, and used the same power that Quinn had used. How is that even possible? I thought Nephilim only had one power and what I've seen so far has proven that. Except Declan.
"Trev and Declan, your battle for the finalist will be an aerial battle. You may still use your powers, however whoever touches the ground first loses. Let the battle begin!" Coordinator Vlad said and blew that whistle.
I stared wide eyed when Trev and Declan extracted their massive, white wings from their backs. I hadn't noticed the slits in the back of their jumpsuits to allow the wings to open. Of course, my jumpsuit didn't have slits.
Trev took to the air first and hovered there, moving his wings up and down gracefully until Declan joined him. Declan's wings were easily two times the size of Trev's and here I thought Trev's wings were huge.
Trev's eyes turned a bright purple and Declan froze in the air. Still flapping his wings, he clutched his head with both hands. Trev smirked and thrust his arm out to the side with his palm faced toward the ceiling.
Declan groaned and squeezed his eyes shut still grabbing his head. He stopped moving his wings and dropped to the floor.
Trev laughed and said, "Hah."
Before Declan hit the floor, he snapped his eyes open and gave a huge thrust of his wings until he was level with Trev again.
"You should have known not to use that on me, Trev," he said.
Then Declan's eyes melted into the same bright purple Trev's had been. It was kinda freaky. A grin spread across his face when Trev curled in a ball, tucking his head in between his legs. His wings snapped shut and he crashed to the mats. Trev rolled around until he smacked the mats twice with one hand.
What the hell did Declan do? He didn't even touch Trev. Then again, Trev used that power first. Declan must have used the power against him.
"Congratulations Declan. You are the winner of the tournament. Trev, you fought well. Let this be a lesson for you; you should have kept that aerial battle to hand to hand combat. Or, you could have selected a weapon from the armory. That being said, all of you please report to your dorm rooms and sleep. The Third Trial will require you to be fully rested," Coordinator Vlad instructed.

Justine ran up to me and threw her arms around my neck. "I knew you would win," she whispered in my ear.
So did I, but I didn't say it of course. I just thanked her and put my arm around her waist. Kiera was helping Trev up from the mats. He was leaning heavily on her for support.
"What did you do to him?" She accused me.
I shrugged and said, "Nothing he didn't do to me."
She opened her mouth to say something back to me, but Trev shook his head and Kiera just glared at me.
Justine and I walked out of the Trials Center and went to our respective dorm rooms.
I washed up in the bathroom, changing into a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt. I left the steamy bathroom and stepped into my room. I waved my hand and the lights flicked off. I collapsed into bed and closed my eyes.
Kiera needs to stay away from me. From the moment she appeared in my room, I knew who she was. It's painful to see her here knowing that she could have been like the rest of us Neph. She could have even been one of the best of the entrants. Now, she'll never have the chance. Kiera will be forced to leave The Sectors and return to the Gray Sector at the end of The Trials.
All because of me.
Kiera was the only one I've ever stolen a power from.

Trev was missing the next morning at breakfast. After I walked him to his room last night, he collapsed in his bed but told me he was going to be fine. I stood up and told Aaron and Jack that I'd be right back. They just nodded.
Trev is from the Black Sector so his room was two hallways down from mine. I walked through the crowded dining room to the door. Except I never made it there. A hand wrapped around my wrist and tugged me back around. I looked up into a pair of silver eyes that kind of looked angry. I yanked my arm out of his grasp and put my hands on my hips.
"Where are you going?" Declan asked.
"Uh, none of your business," I retorted.
"Well it's my business now. You know you're not supposed to leave the cafe until the bell rings."
"What do you care if I break a small rule?"
He shoved a hand through his black hair and sighed. "Look, I really don't care if you break a rule or not. It would actually be good. You would be kicked out of The Trials and out of my sight forever."
I gasped. How dare he say that.
"What did I ever do to you? You know what, never mind. Once these Trials are over, one way or another, I'm glad I will never see you again," I said.
"At least we both agree about that," he mumbled, shoving me in the direction of my table. I turned back around to yell at him, but he was already out the door of the cafeteria.
So he could break a rule and I couldn't? He probably won't even be punished and he knows it.
I sat back down and angrily ate the rest of my food. I got up to dump my tray in the trash and gaped.
Declan was walking in the cafe with Trev's arm around his shoulder. It looked like Trev was leaning on Declan for support. His light brown hair was rumpled, but his violet eyes looked bright. He smiled when he saw me.
I walked up to them and took Trev from Declan. By now, everyone was staring at us probably wondering what Declan was doing talking to us. I went to thank him, but he shoved past me and sat next to Justine. She looked pissed.
I have no idea why Declan went to get Trev. First of all, he doesn't even like Trev and second of all, he could have been caught. He told me not to go because I wasn't allowed to, so why did he?
"Are you okay, Trev?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just have a small headache from yesterday but I'll be alright after I eat," he said.
It looked like he was in more pain than a "small headache". I filled a tray with some breakfast food and put it in front of Trev while he was sitting at the table for the Black Sector.
"Attention entrants. Please report to the backyard," the intercom instructed a few minutes later.

Declan
I certainly didn't go to get Trev because I like the guy. I don't know why, but I guess I did it for Kiera. If she had been the one to get caught by Coordinator Vlad instead of me, she would have been kicked out of this place without a doubt. Me, on the other hand, I just got a small scolding. Kiera will be kicked out of The Trials at the end anyway, so I don't know why I saved her now. I'd rather not think about it now. There were more important things at hand.
All of the entrants left the cafeteria and walked nervously to backyard.
The backyard was surrounded on all sides by huge trees. It was the size of a football field with various contraptions set up. Coordinator Vlad led us to the first set up. We stood around the contraption waiting for him to explain. He never got the chance.
A huge demon that was a grotesque shape and had black slime oozing all over its body crashed through the trees on six legs. It charged right for our group.
Justine sent ice spears hurdling to the demon, a girl from the Blue Sector uplifted rocks from the forest and also threw those, a guy from the Black Sector snapped his fingers as bolts of electricity exploded from the sky. Every other Neph was using their power against the demon. Justine's ice blades melted in the goo, rocks drowned in the slime, and all other attempts were dissolved in the slime.
Coordinator Vlad was rapidly speaking into his ear piece. The humans huddled off to the side, too scared to even do anything. They probably didn't know that demons were actually real and that they scrounged the grounds here.
I calmly met the demon halfway from the group. It stopped right in front of me and I could see that it didn't have any eyes. It just had a huge mouth filled with razor sharp teeth. I raised my hand to blast the demon's head off when Kiera yelled,
"Declan! Watch out!"
I dropped to the ground and waited a full minute until the demon's sharp tail whizzed by where my head would have been. What the hell? How could Kiera have possibly known a full minute in advance about what the demon was going to do?
I jumped back up as globs of the goo dripped off the demon and made the grass sizzle.
"Trev, get over here now!" I yelled.
Trev rushed to my side and I jerked my head at the demon.
"Obliterate the brain," I told him.
He nodded and focused on the demon. I shielded Trev's body with mine while he concentrated. The demon snorted and more globs came at us. I shoved Trev to the ground then yanked him back up as the demon geared up to crush us.
"You guys need to take to the air right now," a voice said behind us.
I turned around and was shocked to see Kiera standing there. Her face was brave and calm as she instructed us what to do.
"Go before that thing decides to-"
She got cut off as the demon lobbed the black goo at her. I wrapped my arm around her waist and snapped my wings open. Trev's wings expanded and we took off into the air.
"Are you an idiot?" I yelled at Kiera.
"If it weren't for me, you would both be covered in that slime right now. Whether or not you like it, you need me to be able to fight it. I'll tell you it's next move so you guys can plan ahead and kill it," she said.
I opened my mouth to argue and say we already had a plan when Trev said, "She's right. I need to know what the demon is going to do so I can determine where I should fly to be able to destroy its brain."
Kiera pointed to where he should go. When he got there, he concentrated again.
"It's going after the group next!" Kiera warned.
Okay, I'll just have to distract it. With Kiera in one of my arms, I'll only have one arm to use.
"This would be so much easier if I didn't have to hold you," I mumbled. She didn't respond.
I lobbed fire balls at the demon to make it focus on me and not the other entrants. Kiera continued to warn me about what the demon would do so I was able to avoid it.
Suddenly, with a huge roar, the demon collapsed and melted into the ground.
"Did it," Trev smirked.
We landed back on the ground with all eyes on us. It was dead silent and then the group unanimously started to cheer. Coordinator Vlad was looking at Kiera strangely. She slinked away from us to join back with the rest of the entrants. She walked with her head down until she hit the back of the group. Trev darted after her.
Somehow, Kiera got her power back.
