The twinkle lights cast jovial shadows around the abandoned balcony as the crowd gathered inside as the countdown echoed.

Five...

I was used to being alone. My eyes clung to a couple inside, lost in each other. Their warm exchange reminded me of the frigid air and my lack of coat.

Four...

I closed my eyes, trying to imagine the warmth of love.

Three...

My mind conjured Bryce, even filling my nose with his scent.

Two...

The heat of a coat hit my shoulders as I fluttered my eyelids to meet Bryce's green eyes.

"One," he murmured with a smile.
