Part Thirty Four
(EDITING) Under A Lonely Moon
Nova's P.O.V
'Ow, ow, ow,' Zak groaned. He had woken in discomfort and pain.
'Dada,' Kasper whimpered as he sat looking at Zak. He didn't like to see his daddy in pain, it
Upset him. He'd always been like that, ever since he was tiny.
'Daddy's fine baby.' I picked him up off the bed as Micky came back. 'Come on, let's go play with
Nanny and grandad.'
'No,' he screamed and began squirming in my arms. 'Stay with dada!' He cried.
'Daddy needs to rest baby. We'll come back with his dinner and we can eat together. Alright?' I
Tried bargaining. I was a little irritable as I'd had barely any sleep after the twins had kept me up
all night.
'No!' He cried. He was having none of it.
'N-nova, he can stay.' Zak whispered. I looked at my mate and watched as Micky injected a funny
Coloured liquid into his arm.
'This should help with the pain. Give it half an hour and if it's not working tell me.' Micky told Zak
Before stepping into his office.
'Zak you need to rest. We'll come back later.'
He shook his head weakly. 'No, it'll just make Kas upset. He's fine staying with me if he wants too.'
'Stay with dada!' He squirmed free of my hold, falling towards the floor. Thankfully I caught him
Before he hit the floor.
'Alright.' I sighed. 'Kasper if your going to stay here you need to be a good boy for daddy and not
Mess about. Daddy needs to rest.' I told my boy, looking sternly into his eyes.
He nodded, 'I will daddy, pwomise.' He told me seriously.
I sat him next to Zak and pulled the covers over them both. 'I'll be back in a little while. I'll check
On Izzy and Noah and will bring some food back with me.' I told them before I left.
Micky told me he'd keep a close eye on them before I left, which eased my mind a little.
'Hey son, how's Zak?' Father asked as I walked into the kitchen.
'He'll be fine. He's just in a bit of pain at the minute. Kasper's stayed with him.' I sighed.
I walked over to my mother. She sat feeding Noah, while Izzy lay cuddled in Nathan's lap. 'Thank
You so much for your help. I really appreciate it.' I smiled at them both.
'Its no problem Nova. We're happy to help.' Nathan smiled and handed me Izzy. 'Its stressful
Enough for you with Zak in the hospital and a toddler running around, you don't need to worry
About these two too.'
'Still, I can't thank you enough for all your help.' I smiled. I looked down at my little girl, happily
Asleep in my arms. She was beautiful. She already had a handful of soft black hair on her little
Head. I could tell already that I was going to be one of those over protective fathers. One that
Wouldn't let any boy near his little girl. I chuckled to myself.
'Whats funny?' Nathan asked, raising a brow.
'Just thinking. God help her mate when he comes along.' I laughed, so did Nathan and my father.
'I feel sorry for him already.' Father chuckled.
After dressing the twins in cute little matching outfits, I made my way down to my mate and son.
'Hey baby, look whose come to see you.' I called softly as I entered the hospital.
I smiled at the site of my boys cuddled together watching tele.
'Hows my babies?' Zak smiled as he watched me sit next to the bed.
'They're fine. All fed and cleaned.' I chuckled.
'Daddy me hold one?' Kasper asked as he looked at his baby brother and sister with a smile.
'Course you can bud,' I smiled as he squealed in joy.
Zak held his arms out for one of his babies, wiggling his fingers. I placed Noah in his arms before
sitting next to an excited Kasper. I sat him between my legs as I sat on the end of the bed.
Kasper sat with his legs straight and patted them, wanting to hold his baby sister. I put Izzy in his
Little lap and kept hold of her head. Kas put his arm on mine and he gently held her tiny hand in
His other.
He smiled up at me. 'Im be the bestest big brover ever!' He told me and I believed every word.
I'd already seen how he was with his daddy. I had no doubt in my mind that he would be anything
But the best big brother to his siblings. The thought alone was enough to melt my heart. I was so
Proud of my little boy, he would be a great alpha some day.
That reminded me 'Zak, I've got something to tell you.'
He looked up at me with confused eyes.
'My father told me he's planning on retiring in the next couple months.' I told him.
His eyes widened, 'really?'
I nodded. 'Yeah. He can't wait to hand the pack over to us.' I smiled.
'Us?'
'Yeah, your my mate and you'll be running this pack alongside me.'
Zak smiled nervously, 'I-I'll try my best.' He mumbled shyly.
I chuckled. It was a while since I'd seen him blush. 'You'll do great. Don't worry.'
'Daddy, her eyes pwetty.' Kasper tugged my shirt.
I looked down at him and smiled as he pointed to Izzy. She had woken and was staring up at her
Big brother with dazzling emerald eyes. 'Shes got your eyes baby.' I cooed and picked her up so
Zak could see.
Tears slipped down his cheeks as he looked at our little girl. 'Shes beautiful.'
'Dada, no cry.' Kasper crawled over to Zak and nuzzled into his daddy's side.
'Its okay baby. I'm not upset, I'm happy.' Zak smiled down at Kasper who looked confused.
A small whimper came from my little girl before she began to cry.
'Sshh, baby girl.' I stood and rocked Izzy in my arms, calming her cries almost immediately.
'I guess that proves it.' Zak giggled. 'Shes going to be a proper daddy's girl.'
I chuckled myself. 'Im fine with that.'
'Wow, my hospitals being taken over by little people.' Micky chuckled as he came to us.
'Im not little, I'm a big boy,' Kasper pouted. He stood on the bed with his hands on his hips.
'Your too much like your daddy kiddo.' He laughed. 'Did you look after your daddy properly Kas?'
Micky teased.
Kasper nodded so much I thought his head would roll off his shoulders. 'I did, I did.'
'Good boy, here you go,' Micky pulled a pack of cookies out of his pocket and opened them, 'but
Only a few okay or your daddy will get mad at me if you don't eat your dinner.' He handed my boy
Three cookies before putting the rest in a jar that sat on his desk.
'Thank you uncle Micky,' Kasper smiled as he munched happily on the biscuits.
'Hows the pain Zak?' Micky asked in a lower tone. He knew Kasper was easily upset when he
Thought his dad was hurt.
'Its better now. Thank you.' Zak smiled gently at Micky. 'When am I allowed to leave?'
Micky sighed. We knew this question was coming and we both knew Zak wasn't going to like the
Answer. 'Not any time soon unfortunately. Zak I'm going to have to keep you here for a while, your
In pain just moving and that alone is enough to make me keep you here. But your body is seriously
Stressed out. The strain that carrying the twins has put on your body will take a while to heal. Plus
Your wolf hasn't been out in a while so he's getting frustrated, which isn't helping your situation.'
It's been more than a while. I haven't seen Zak's wolf in little over half a year. The last time I seen it
Was before I went away to find Derek. We'd took a moonlight walk through the forest, enjoying our
Time together.
'No, I don't want to stay here.' Zak cried. His voice was raised higher than usual as his emotions
Took control. 'I need to look after my babies. They need me.' Tears welled in his eyes and he tried
his best to hold them back. 'I don't want to stay here.' He whimpered.
'I know you don't Zak, but your going to have to. I'd say you'll have to stay another week, maybe a
Little more depending on how fast you heal. I'm sorry Zak, this isn't up for discussion. Your
Staying here until your better and that's that.' Micky said sternly.
Zak didn't say anything back. His face was covered by his hair but I could tell he was crying. He
Hugged Noah, snuggling the little boy into his chest as he settled down. Zak lay in the bed with
Noah lying asleep on his chest. Kasper had finished his cookies and was now lying curled into his
Daddy's side with his head lying on Zak's shoulder.
I looked over to Micky and smiled in apology. He shook his head and smiled back, telling me it was
Fine. We'd expected this sort of reaction from Zak.
'Hi boys, we've brought food.' My mothers sing-song voice filled the silence. 'Oh dear, what's
wrong?' She asked as her and Leo walked in with two trays of food.
'Nothings wrong.' I told her.
She shook her head, not believing me but not pushing for an answer.
'Nanny, daddy's sad.' My little boy whimpered.
I looked over at him and felt horrible. His little golden eyes held tears as he gently stroked Zak's
Hair while holding his hand in his own. 'Mom, can you and Leo take the kids for a minute while I
Talk to Zak.' I asked and they nodded in understanding.
'Come on kiddo, want to come outside for a bit?' Leo asked Kasper as mother took the twins.
Kas shook his head, 'no. Me staying with daddy.' He growled.
This kid honestly. He was so stubborn it's unreal. 'Kasper I need you to look after your brother and
Sister for me. Just for five minutes and then you can come back.'
My little boy grumbled something under his breath and I had to hold back a laugh.
'Only five minutes.' He confirmed.
I nodded. 'Then you can come back.'
He sighed but wiggled his way off the bed and walked out with Leo.
'Zak, I know you really don't want to be here, but it's what's best for you. Your body needs to heal.
You've been through a hell of a lot recently, both physically and mentally. We just want you to rest
And get back to your old self. I don't want to see you suffer anymore. It hurts me too when I see
you in pain and distress.' I waited for an answer, but got none. I sighed and stood, turning my back
Ready to leave.
'No! D-don't leave m-me.' I heard the bed creak and felt a hand wrap around my wrist. 'P-please.'
I turned round to face my mate. 'Zak, I would never leave you.' I wrapped his small, trembling
form in my arms and pulled him close as I sat us down back on the bed. 'Sshh, baby. I hate seeing
You cry. Show me that adorable smile of yours. The one that makes my heart melt every time I see
It.' I chuckled when he playfully hit my chest.
'Your so soppy sometimes.' He mumbled. He nuzzled his face into my neck and I heard him
breathe in deeply.
'Come take a walk with me? Micky won't mind as long as we're not out too long?'
'Okay.' He smiled up at me with that beautiful smile.
'Thats better.' I smiled and kissed my beautiful mate. I didn't let it become heated, just a soft,
passionate kiss that told my mate that I loved him with all my heart.
