Chapter 17

Lessons

Don't Freak Out! I'll Win Her Back.

Sam:

It was another early Saturday morning and these days usually consist of me laying in bed all day and waking up during the late evening. However, I wasn't in control of my mornings anymore. I pull the pillow over my head and try to ignore the banging on my room door. "Fuck." I scream into the pillow. I hurry to the door and swing it open.

"You're not ready?" Nathalie asks in shock. "What are you doing?" She pushes me toward my bathroom. I yawn in my hand and Nathalie turn on the water to the shower. "Hurry up." She orders before slamming the door behind me.

"Good morning to you too." I reply annoyed. I hurry and get into the shower, but I take my time and take advantage of the hot water on my skin. When I finally exit the water, I hurry and dress before making my way down the hall.

"Mom!" I can hear Nathalie voice. "If Sam is not ready in two minutes I'm going to strangle her myself."

"Mommy mommy." Piper smiles. "Can I have a dog? Pleaseeeee."

I walk into the kitchen and I can see Miranda massaging her temples with her fingers. I cannot help the smile on my face and the instant change in my mood. This is what Miranda do to me. She finally takes me in and it's like Nathalie and Piper don't matter.

"Good morning, Ms. Madison. You're running late per usual." Her intense eyes travel from my feet and up my body slowly before landing on my face. I can't help the smirk that's plastered on my face. When she called me Ms. Madison it made my bones tingle. Her outfit didn't help my hormones either. Standing there in a fancy pair of stripe high waisted pants, a teasing white shirt, and dangling gold jewelry. Her hair was freshly chopped again, and she finished it off with a pair of reading glasses. I swallow, and she cocks her head to the side and mutter, "My eyes are up here Ms. Madison."

I blink a few times and Nathalie make a disgusting gag noise and Piper ignores us because she was confused as to why her mother wasn't paying attention to her anymore. She jumps off the stool and runs toward me. I pull her in a hug and up into my arms. She was wearing a sleeveless floral blue dress. "Can I have a dog?" She asks her eyes becoming big and wide.

I place her on her two feet and Miranda arches her eyebrow, "She's not your mother, sweetheart. Besides you cannot have a dog."

Piper pushes out her lip and folds her arms around herself. "Hey. Fix your face." I tell her. She doesn't listen to me but makes her way into the living room. I chuckle and run my fingers through my hair. "She's something else." I joke trying my best to avoid looking at Miranda ass.

"We need to go." Nathalie breaks up our conversation. I sigh to myself. I loved Nathalie with all my heart, but I couldn't wait till she was completely married and off on a plane with Rose for their honeymoon.

We all hurry to the car and the driver speeds off towards the ballroom downtown. Nathalie and Rose agreed to no bachelorette parties and instead Rose father had invited us to his home for brunch. Nathalie has been on edge for the past week because she was nervous, and no one liked Rose father. Not even Rose.

However, Miranda stated that it would be rude and tacky not to accept the invitation. I could feel Nathalie leg shaking next to mine. I take her hand and squeeze it. "Everything is going to be fine," I tell her. "Rose loves you. No matter what her family has to say. Rose love for you is all that matters."

Nathalie inhales and exhales slowly.

Miranda watches me for most of the ride and I smile to myself because she thinks I haven't noticed. I was wearing an off shoulder strap, tea-length navy blue satin dress. It was elegant but teasing. I catch Miranda and give her a playful wink. She rolls her eyes and looks away from me.

She was upset with me, but I loved playing with fire.

The car comes to a sudden stop and the elegant gates open before we are riding up a long hill and towards a huge white mansion. We step out the car and I don't expect anything less. We all make our way to the front door. There is no need to knock because the doors are opening and revealing sparkling marbles floors and a staircase to heaven but nothing was more beautiful than seeing Miranda walk in her....I almost trip on my feet.

"Are you okay Sam?" Miranda cocks her head to the side in a teasing manner. "Fine." I squeak out embarrassed.

Evil Woman. She was wearing the sexy Louboutin's she left in my closet that one day. The day Austin almost caught us. I look up at her and she only smirks before walking away from me. I try to follow her, but Piper was pulling on my hand and muttering something about the bathroom.

"huh what?" I'm confused, and my brain is telling me to do numerous naughty things.

"I have to pee," Piper repeats more sternly this time. I arch my eyebrow and take a step back because she almost has a perfect image of Miranda when she's being impatient. I'm going crazy. I take Piper hand and we find the nearest bathroom. Of course, it's fancy and might as well be placed in a ten-star hotel somewhere in the penthouse.

Piper does her business and she looks relieved when she comes out. "Washed your hands?" I question. She nods her head and race across the floor and in the direction of Miranda and Nathalie. I hurry behind her and one of the butlers open the doors to the backyard. There was a gigantic tennis court, an infinity pool with a spa, an outdoor cabana with a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen equipped with everything needed. I stare in awe and someone steps in front of me. He's tall and handsome and I'm sure I have seen him before, but I'm too focused on finding Miranda.

"Hello." He smiles, and it is too fancy and fake for my liking. "I'm James. Rose older brother."

I scowl toward him at hearing older brother. I have heard enough stories to know he ain't shit. He clears his throat and says, "I see." He shifts uncomfortably. "You may have heard a few awful things about me but I'm not here to ruin Rose day. I've outgrown my childish antics. I have apologized to her several times and hopefully, you can give me a chance."

He throws his hand out and I tentatively give it a quick shake. "Great." He smiles brightly. "My father is over this way. He is tending to the grill. You can help yourself. There is a lounge area where everyone is sitting on the other side of the pool. Please." He smiles. "Make yourself at home."

"Um. Thanks, James." I tell him.

I quickly walk away, and I notice a few unfamiliar faces. I keep Piper close to me and we finally run into someone I know. "Rose." I sigh. "Dude. Wonderful place."

"Thanks." She mutters nervously. "How do I look?"

I look her up and down and arch my eyebrow. She was wearing one of her fancy two-piece suits. Trousers, a teasing top, and a sexy blazer. "Great," I tell her with a huge smile. I then look her over again. She looked uncomfortable. "You look hot. Take your jacket off."

She chews on her bottom lip and it dawns on me. Her father hates her tattoos. "You don't live to make him happy Rose. He invited you here. He will get over the fact you have sleeves."

Rose swallows and I can see a little sweat building on her forehead. "I just want this to be perfect for Nathalie and my father is a mean ass bitch."

"If anything goes wrong you know we got your back," I tell her. "So, take that damn jacket off. You're making me hot."

She nudges me playfully and Piper interrupts us and says, "Can I please go swim with Delilah and Lily?"

I turn my head in confusion. "The twins here?"

"Yeah," Rose grumbles annoyed. "I guess he thinks he's the father of year because all of his kids are here. He told me over the phone that is he's turning over a new leaf. He's even divorcing Cathy."

"I don't know if Miranda brought Piper a bathing suit," I tell Rose. Piper looks up at me sadly. "Where is Miranda?" I ask. "Have you seen her?"

"Yeah." Rose answers. "She's over by the lounge area. I'm sure the twins brought extra suits. I'll be back."

"Wait..." I frown but Rose is already disappearing into the crowd. "Which way is the lounge area," I say to myself.

Piper and I get lost in the crowd for a few minutes before finally, we find the lounge area. "Mom." Piper let's go of my hand and run toward Miranda who is laughing with some woman. Miranda look down at Piper and Piper hurry and ask, "Can I please swim?"

"This is your youngest?" The woman smiles. "She's beautiful. I'm not surprised her mother is a spectacular piece."

I walk upon them. "Rose said that the little girls have an extra suit, but I told Piper she had to get your permission first."

"And who is this?" The woman asks cocking her head to the side. "The nanny?"

Her wife. I wanted to blurt but instead, my eyes travel from her shoes and up her body. "No." I hiss. "Who are you? The maid?"

"Sam." Miranda mutters stepping in between the two of us.

"I didn't mean to offend." The woman speaks again. "I apologize. We were just speaking about how busy she is..."

I roll my eyes ignoring her.

"I'm Kelly." She smiles. "I'm Rose father event coordinator."

I chuckle, "Basically, a party planner?" I scoff. "Come on Piper. Let's go get changed." Piper smiles at this and hurries at my side.

"The Nanny." I snort to myself. "What a joke."

I take Piper into the home and the butler escorts me towards the little girls' room. He tells me to make myself at home and Piper is welcome to anything. We quickly get her changed and I help her with the sunscreen. I make my way back outside and Piper rushes into the water. "Be careful." I scream after her.

I glance over toward the lounging area and Miranda is still speaking with the Party Planner. I roll my eyes. I stick my feet in the water and watch the kids to make sure they don't drown each other because no one else had their eyes on them.

I sit there for a while and finally the girls are bored with the water. They climb out the pool and rush over to me. "We're hungry." Delilah says.

"Are you done swimming?" I ask them. "Once you eat that's it."

"Why?" Piper pouts. "We will eat quick and come back."

"You'll get sick." I stand. "Come on. I'm sure there is something else for you guys to do."

"Daddy got this huge room with games and stuff," Delilah says. "We can do that."

"Fine." Piper pouts.

Lily grabs Piper hand and gives her an encouraging squeeze before giving her a hug. "We can swim tomorrow. Daddy wants us to spend the night."

I arch my eyebrow at this news. "I wonder did Rose know and did Joy give them permission to stay over."

"Come on girls." I tell them. I didn't want to judge anyone I didn't know. I guess it was better late than never. The girls were still young, and he had the right to want to get to know his kids. Even if he was an asshole.

The girls change quickly, and I help them with making hotdogs and chips. They sit on top of a blanket on the grass and eat.

"There you are." I turn around and Nathalie is heading my way with a smile on her face. She takes a seat next to me and Delilah hurries and hops into her lap before Lily even have the chance. Lily pouts but chooses to not say anything.

"I thought you were hiding," Nathalie says to me. "I've been looking all over for you."

"Just on nanny duties." I spat.

Nathalie cocks her head to the side curiously, "You're not a nanny, Sam. The girls are big enough to behave." She looks at the three of them. "Right?"

"Yes. We will behave." Delilah says.

"Sorry." I run my fingers through my hair. "They were swimming and I didn't want to leave them unattended. You know I love the girls. I don't mind it at all."

"Then why the crude joke?" Nathalie questions.

"Your mother new friend called me the nanny."

"My mother..." She pauses. "Miranda?"

I roll my eyes getting annoyed for some reason. "You only have one mother, Nathalie."

Nathalie chuckles, "I can tell you're upset. You never call her my mother. Whoever she is speaking to don't matter." Nathalie leans over and kisses my forehead. "Don't spoil the party."

I chew on my bottom lip. I was over-reacting. "You're right." Nathalie smiles and stands before dusting herself off. I roll my eyes at her antics. She was seated on a blanket. She disappears into the crowd to find Rose. I take the girls upstairs to this gaming room that somehow included a basketball court and other numerous activities for them to do. "Be good," I tell them. "I'll be back up to check on you guys."

They don't listen but race each other to see who can get the basketball first.

I shut the door behind me and make my way back downstairs. Miranda is not by the lounging area anymore and Kelly is missing too. I clench my jaw and squeeze my fist. What a joke. I inhale deeply through my nose. I could go look for them, but I wouldn't dare to ruin a wonderful day for Rose and Nathalie.

I scroll through my phone while sitting by the pool. It was going to be nightfall soon and I still hadn't seen a glimpse of Miranda. Rose father comes and tells everyone that dinner was ready. I make my way up toward the patio area and there is a long table full of guest. Miranda and Kelly come out the side door together. Her eyes make eye contact with mine and she freezes for a second before looking away.

I was livid.

Kelly pulls Miranda by the hand toward two seats at the end of the table. I watch her, and Miranda takes a seat. Nathalie waves me over but I ignore her. I walk down the side and approach the two. Kelly smiles my way for a split second before frowning. I guess my face screamed rage. I bend over and whisper in Miranda's ear, "Tell her to move or I'll kill her."

"Sam..."

"I'm serious, Miranda." I hiss.

Miranda breathes, and she takes a moment to think to herself. Finally, she leans over and whispers to Kelly. I couldn't hear what she was saying but I didn't care. At this point, I could drag the woman by her hair for disrespecting me and calling me the nanny.

This is why I hated being around the Richie rich people. I didn't fit in even when I wore the clothes and shoes.

Kelly stands, and she brushes past me. I take a seat and fold my arms. Miranda glances at me for a second before asking, "What's your problem?"

I choose to ignore her.

Dinner is served and everything smells delicious. However, I don't have the appetite because I'm so annoyed. I pick around at my food and I can feel Miranda eyes on me every now and then. She takes the glass of champagne and starts gracefully drowning it down her throat.

Before dessert is placed on the table she snaps. I must give her credit she last longer than I thought. She leans over, and her nails dig into my thighs. "You sit here and ignore me." She whispers in my ear.

I finally turn, and my eyes are blazed with anger. "The same as you've been doing all fucking day. While prancing around with the woman who called me the fucking nanny. Fuck you, Miranda." I hiss lowly before standing abruptly.

Everyone eyes land on me.

I give them a forced smile, "I'm going to check on the children." I throw the fancy cloth down on the table. "Nanny duties."

I make my way up the stairs and when I walk into the playroom. I cross the court and round a few more steps. I open the door and they are asleep on the floor with the huge TV blasting some movie. There are chips and snacks all over the floor. Piper groans and she open her eyes and mutter, "Sam. My tummy hurts."

"You ate too many snacks," I explain to her. "Your belly isn't big enough for all this junk food."

"I'm sorry," Piper explains in a sleepy manner. "I was excited."

I laugh and run my fingers through her hair. I didn't think the party was quite over yet. "Go back to sleep and then we'll go home soon."

"Mmkay," Piper whispers before turning over and going to sleep.

I make my way downstairs and when I round the corner. Rose is setting up a beer pong table. I'm also surprised to see Austin and Viviana. "Dude," Austin says. "Where you been at? The party is about to start."

I glance around the room and there is no Miranda anywhere. I wanted to punch something, but I do something much much worse. I grab a bottle of tequila.

"It's not a game if we're not taking shots."

[][]

I cackle in laughter and Rose shoots me a bird. The game was close, and no one has beaten me and Austin yet but Rose and Nathalie were the best competition I had all night. There was music blasting in the background. Viviana was DJ-ing and sitting on the couch with some guy. I focus on the remaining cup and say, "It was nice playing you guys." I throw the ball and it lands right in the cup.

"Fuck!" Rose screams annoyed.

Nathalie smiles and gives Rose shoulder a squeeze. I chuckle in laughter and Austin jumps up and down in victory. I grab the bottle and hand it to Rose. She rolls her eyes and take a long shot out of the bottle and then hand it back to me in a challenging manner. I arch my eyebrow and take a long swig. It didn't even burn anymore and that was dangerous.

"Victory is ours again." I throw my hands up in a dramatic manner. "Would anyone like to face the champion."

The doors burst open and Miranda stroll into the room like the Gods placed every marble down for her to walk upon. I almost choke on my beer. I almost forgot she was here. Shit. I take in her body and ruffled hair. She was drunk. I almost walk toward her and kiss her on the lips, but Kelly walks in behind her. I roll my eyes.

This wasn't going to end well.

"We'll challenge you." Miranda said her voice stern and her confidence shooting through the roof.

Austin looks at me with excitement. "I'm done." I fold instantly. "Play Austin and Rose."

I turn to walk away but Miranda stops me, "Are you afraid Ms. Madison?"

I stop in my tracks. "Set up the table up Ms. Grayson."

The room becomes quiet even though there is music blasting in the background. Everyone can feel the tension in the room and I knew Austin could feel the anger radiating off my shoulders. How dare she challenge me and then use Kelly as her partner.

Miranda gives me a wicked smile and I'm positive she's just as drunk as me. Nathalie looks at the two of us worried. I can tell she was confused.

"Save my spot, baby." Rose kisses Nathalie on the cheek. "It's some leftovers in the kitchen."

Miranda finally completes the table with the cups. She has a glass of champagne in her hand and I wonder what number that is. "Eye to eye?" I question.

"Whatever you wish baby."

I clench my jaw and ignore her. By now there are more people crowding around us. We shoot eye to eye and the both of us make it in. She gives me a wink and I continue to ignore her. Austin and Kelly go eye to eye and Austin make it while Kelly misses. I smirk. This was going to be easy.

The game starts quickly and even though Kelly wasn't that great. Miranda was good enough to drag herself and Kelly along the game. I run my fingers through my hair in frustration. Of course, Miranda Grayson was good at beer pong.

"We got this." I tell Austin. "Give us a straight line."

Miranda moves the cups vertically. We only had two cups left. I shoot, and it goes in and Austin shoots and it goes in. Everyone in the room claps and I roll the ball back. "Redemption," I tell her.

"I understand the rules, Ms. Madison." She winks and just as gracefully as she is she shoots the ball and it lands in the cup closest to me.

Everyone begins to cheer, and Rose is shaking her head while smacking on leftover macaroni and cheese and chicken.

I clench my jaw and breathe.

The game goes for another round and Miranda shoots the last cup. "Fuck," I mutter to myself.

She rolls the ball to me. "Redemption." She winks at me from across the table.

"You got this Sam." Austin tells me.

I aim and my eyes land on Miranda. I shoot and the ball misses. Miranda and Kelly scream in excitement, Austin buries his face in his hands, Rose plays, "We are the champions." And I watch as Kelly pull Miranda in a hug before planting her lips on Miranda.

Again, everything freezes, the music stops playing, and Rose drops her plate out of her hand. I turn and walk away. I can hear heels clicking behind me as I'm heading for the front door. The butler opens it for me and I walk out. I pull out my phone to call Uber because I was not riding back with Miranda.

"Sam." I can hear her behind me. "Sam baby."

"Don't touch me." I glare at her. She backs away and her face become soft and she looks hurt.

"I'm sorry." She tells me. "I didn't want her to do that."

"But, you let her close enough to think she can." I sneer. "I'm going home."

Miranda stands there, and she is not as tall because she is holding her heels in her hand. Her hair is ruffled and she's drunk. I'm not sure she even knows where her glasses are. She comes closer and lays her head on my chest. "Miranda." I say sternly.

"Don't be mad at me." She whispers. "I just wanted to teach you a lesson."

"What?" I push her away, so I can see her face.

She rocks to the side a little and I knew then that she was highly intoxicated. "You're always letting these girls get close to you." She looks up and she is pissy now. I take a step back, but she doesn't let me go far. She grabs my wrist and pulls me toward her.

"Tessa is long gone." I tell her.

Miranda grab my jaw tightly and I'm confused to how this has been turned around on me. She's the one who's been flirting this entire day. "How you're feeling is how I felt every time that sad excuse of a human was around you. Should I give Kelly my number or maybe access to my room?"

I swallow. She was drunk and angry.

I fold my arms and roll my eyes, but I choose to not say anything. "I love you. I'm sorry. Don't be mad at me." Miranda mutter a few seconds later. She then reaches up and kiss me. Suddenly, I'm not upset anymore. We sneak into the car and shut the door. I'm guessing the driver was inside partying too.

She climbs over me and pulls my dress up. I run my fingers through her hair and pull her closer. She runs her tongue down my neck and her hands go up my thighs slowly.

"I'm not in for teasing."

"Shush." Miranda kisses me again. She buries her tongue in my mouth and I work at her pants before giving up and pulling her shirt over her head. I lift and pull her breast free from her lacy bra. I run my tongue over her nipple before taking her breast into my mouth. She moans, and we change positions. She sits on top of me and unzips my dress and it pools around me.

I pull away from her breast and lift to pull her bottom lip between my teeth. She rocks against me and I pull away, "Sam." She snaps.

I chuckle and push her off me. "Sam. What are you..."

I lift myself the best I can and strip out the dress that leaves me only in my blue lacey thong. I then crawl toward her and lay her back before stripping her out of her clothes. I spread her legs and rest there before moving against her. She moans and throws her head back. I take advantage and begin to leave kisses all over her neck before pulling and biting at the skin.

She pulls at my hair while her other hand put marks on my back. I tease her, and she's threatening me before finally, she's begging. "Please." She cries. "Sam. Please."

I kiss her lips softly and finally give in. She moans and bites down on my shoulder. Time seemed to pass us by before she's throwing her head back in pleasure and silently screaming. I pull her breast in my mouth and bite down on her nipple. Her body goes rigid against me and her hands pull at my hair.

Finally, she collapses down on the seat. I kiss her belly softly as she tries to catch her breath. She yanks at my hair and pulls me up before kissing me. "I love you." She mutters. She's then flipping me over and kissing all over my body slowly. She spreads my legs and my hand slams into the window as she lifts my leg over her shoulder.

[][]

The sun is rising when I wake up. Miranda is laying on top of me and I'm uncomfortable, but this is the best feeling in my life. I can feel my neck pulsing from the marks she left there and the others that are all over my body. I look around for my phone and I find it on the floor. I have several missed calls from everyone. I shift and Miranda groans on top of me. "No. Stay." She mutters getting more comfortable on top of me.

I can't bring myself to wake her up. So, I relax into the uncomfortable position and run my fingers through her hair while I watch the sunrise. "I love you." I whisper.
