Chapter 13

Tyler's POV 💭

I woke up the next morning with Kayla still wrapped around me. I picked up my phone off of the nightstand and realized I had to be at school in a hour . I slid from underneath Kayla and went to the bathroom to take my shower . When I finished I brushed my teeth and came back into my room wrapped in my towel . I turned to Kayla and noticed she was asleep and also that it looked like she had been crying . I walked over to my dresser and grabbed some clothes . Not feeling to in the mood today I picked out something pretty simple . I dropped my towel and slid my underwear and blue American Eagle boxers on . I put on deodorant and put on a sports bra and a white tank top . Then I slid on a pair of black jeans and a Atlanta Braves baseball shirt . I went into the bathroom and pulled my hair out of its pony tail , then I brushed it Letting it straighten .

I didn't want to wake Kayla and I doubted she wanted to be around a lot of people so I decided to leave her here for the day. I left her a note and went to my dad's room to inform him that she was there . I grabbed a strawberry poptart and headed out the door .

I was getting on my bike when Shay and Derek rode into my driveway .

"Morning ." I greeted them nonchalantly .

"We gotta talk .. " Shay said

"Well damn I can't get a freaking greeting back ?! " I exclaimed . Not too concerned with the issue

"Good morning Tyler ." Derek said . "Now tell her Shay."

"Dontae left..." Shay said

"Ok ." I said shrugging ."What does that have to do with me?"

"He thinks you're gonna be mad at him forever so he left . And that's not even the worst part ..." Derek stated

I examined the looks on each of their faces . ".... Keep going ."

"Big found out and he's looking for him!" Shay exclaimed

"That's not much of a surprise.. Maybe if Dontae wasn't such a bitch and didn't run away from his issues this wouldn't be happening." I said not Caring about the looks they were giving me . "I have my own things to deal with ."

"Like what?!" Derek said raising his voice for once

I turned and looked at my bedroom window. "Kayla almost got raped again last night .. "

"Is she ok?!" They asked in unison .

"She's fine . I showed up then Big showed up . So where's Dontae?"

"Somewhere on Tybee Island." Derek stated

"Like always ... Just ... Go find him and convince him to come back . I'll talk to Big tonight when I see him if he says anything . " I said I put on my helmet . "And don't bother Kayla!" I yelled as I started my bike and sped off .

I got to school about fifteen minutes late. I went to the front office and grabbed and late pass then headed to first period . I took my usual seat and immediately put my head down until I felt someone tap on my shoulder . I lifted my head to see that it was Jessica .

"Baby are you ok?" She whispered

"Yea I'm fine."

"You look really tired ... "

"Yea I had a long night."

"Did anything happen? You know with the whole ... Thing."

"No I didnt have to go last night but I'm going tonight . " I said avoiding looking at her

"Is there something you're not telling me?" She asked as she eyed me curiously

"I'll tell you later . Ok?" I watched her as she nodded and sat back In her seat . I eventually put my head back down still listening to my teachers faint voice as I got lost in my own thoughts . I felt as Jessica placed her hand on my thigh and caressed it with her thumb and it slightly comforted me . I put my hand onto hers and intertwined our fingers . Class took what felt like forever to end.

The bell rang and I quickly grabbed my stuff and walked out of the room behind Jessica . She grabbed my hand and dragged me to her locker. Leaning against her locker she eyed me curiously .

"Tell me what you're not telling me!" She demanded

"Not here ..." I said looking around the hallway

"Tyler .. Now!" She said grabbing my hand

I looking around the hallway one more time then leaned in and whispered everything in her ear.

"She almost got ra-" she started to say before I covered her mouth.

"Don't say anything !" I demanded .

"So you have to go there tonight?" She asking looking at me with sad eyes watching as I nodded . Then she leaned in and kissed me .

"Be safe ... " she said rubbing the back of my neck .

"I always am . I doubt anything is gonna happen to me anyway." I said kissing her forehead . She giggling as the bell started to ring , and I decided to walk her to her next class. I kissed her then headed down the hall . I was almost to my class when I got a text from Kayla.

Kayla ;): how's school?

Me: it's fine ... How r u feeling?

Kayla ;) : I'm ok . I ate your yogurt btw

Me: .... It better have been good :P

Kayla ;) :it was! But Big came by... But just to check on me.

Me: he knew you were there?

Kayla ;) : I guess so & he said something about Dontae was gone..

Me: -.- yea I heard . I'll text you after school .

I tucked away my phone and headed to class .

After school I went straight home and when I got there Derek's bike was in my driveway . I jogged up the stairs to see Kayla , Shay , Derek and Dontae sitting around my room.

"Why is everybody here? I told y'all not to bother Kayla !" I exclaimed .

"It's ok I'm fine .. " she said walking up to me wrapping her arms around me.

"Big saw us today bringing Dontae back ." Derek said

"I'm guessing that's why he's facing the wall . He got his dumb ass beat?" I said looking over at him

Dontae turned and looked at me with a sad expression . His eye was black and his lip was swolen . "Yea .. He got Roger on me." He said turning away .

"Good ." I said as I leaned back against the wall knowing I didn't mean it . "I have to go by myself tonight ." I pointed out .

"Why?!"Kayla said almost jumping out of her skin .

"I finished my stash early and he wanted to talk to me . " I stated in a as a matter of fact tone.

"About what ?" Dontae asked

"If I knew I would've said it ." I shot at him

"Can you two just make up please this is irritating !" Kayla exclaimed moving away from me ." I'm tired of this why can't things just go back to normal ?!"

"Because he has the brain of a watermelon ..." I whispered to myself.

"Stop it !" Kayla yelled slapping my arm .

"She's right." Dontae said standing up. "She can be mad all she wants. She has every right."

After that everyone sat around the room in an awkward silence .

Eventually everyone except Kayla left . I waited until Kayla fell asleep to leave . I snuck out my back door around 11 and headed down the street.

When I walked inside everyone inside greeted me . Though I was slightly confused I greeted everyone back like nothing was off . I walked downstairs and stood in front of Big's desk.

"You have the money?" He said turning around in his chair

"Yes sir." I said as I took out the bag of money and handed it to Roger.

He smiled at me. "You never disappoint Tyler Jackson .. Never. Keep something for yourself."he said as he handed me a stack . "But before you go .. Tell your little friend that leaving isn't that easy . "

"Yes sir . GoodNight ." I said and turned around to walk up the stairs but then Dontae burst in . Roger and another guy grabbed Dontae and held him at gun point .
