Chapter 16

Tyler's POV 💭

I sat uncomfortably in a chair outside of the room my mother was in, I skipped school today to go to the doctor with her. Eventually a nurse peeked out of the room and motioned me to come inside . I walked in to see my mother sound asleep on the bed .

"We had to run a few tests but as of now she's perfectly fine, but as time goes on .... Well we won't be so sure until that time comes." The nurse said looking over the paper on her clip board . "You're welcome to stay ." She said , then she left.

I sat in the chair next to the bed and placed my hand over hers; rubbing my thumb across it. I was here until sunset before visiting hours were over and I was told to leave.

I drove into the neighborhood to see everyone together on the corner so I pulled over and joined them.

"What's going on?" I asked walking towards Dontae and Shay.

"That's what we're tryna figure out." Dontae replied . I heard faint laughter in the distance behind us and turned around to see three people in a car looking out of there windows and laughing. I turned back around and looked at the wall next to us. "Watch Your Backs" it read .

"I wonder who left that .. " Shay said .

"Turn around .. But don't make it too obvious ." I said watching as they both slowly turned there heads and quickly turned them back around.

"The car?" Dontae asked. I nodded.

"You guys know who's car that is right?" Shay asked with a serious tone . Dontae and I eyed her curiously waiting for answer.

She sighed. "Demi .." I felt a sudden rage come over me hearing her name. She just doesn't give up! I turned around heading up the street on the opposite side of the car. My head down, placing my hood over my head .As I got closer , the voices in the car got louder. Once I was a little way behind the car I stood against the wall and lit a blunt. I sat on the ground and tried to listen to their conversation .

"She's not gonna expect it." One male voice said .

"Who's cares? After I'm finished with her all I have to worry about is getting Jess.." A voice I made out to be Demi's said .

"For somebody that hurts her you sure seem obsessed." Another female voice said. Then I heard the click of a gun . I saw Demi point the gun towards the girl in the back.

"Shut up. When her little savior is gone she'll have no choice." She said as she admiringly looked at her gun.

I sat the getter angrier by the second .

"Demi why are we still here? Somebody's bound to see a car suspiciously sitting here." '

'Too late' I said to myself .

"I'm waiting for Jackson to show up." She said gripping her steering wheel .

'Already here'

They say for another twenty minutes before leaving. When they were out of sight I slowly stood up and headed back towards the crowd and once with them I explained everything.

"So they're after you?!" One guy said. I nodded .

"What makes them think we'll let them touch you?!" Dontae said. I shrugged running my fingers through my hair.

"They won't," I replied," but that's not what I'm worried about."

Just then Big stepped through the crowd and stood next to me."So then who are you worried about Jackson?"

"Jessica..."

"Girlfriend?" He asked .

"You could say that..." I said rubbing my hands together.

"Well," he said placing his hand on my shoulder," we got you."

~ The Next Morning ~

I woke up to find myself laying in Jessica's bed with her body ontop of mine . I almost forgot I came over here last night just incase Demi tried something. Suddenly her alarm went off and she jumped up.

"Good Morning Beautiful." I said still playing with her hair. She smiled, kissed me and headed to the bathroom . I stood up and walked behind her , wrapping my arms around around her waist and kissing her neck. I looked up at us the mirror .

"It'll take me longer to get ready for school is this position baby." She said laying her head onto my shoulder .

"I feel like you're safer like this." I replied kissing her neck .

She giggled .

"Marry Meeeeeee ! " I said into her neck .

"OMG babe this is so sudden we're not even together yet!" She said over dramatically fanning herself .

"You're right .... So we're going out tonight ." I said sitting on the counter .

She kissed me . "Can't wait." She winked .
