The sun was rising against the darkness of the night. The rays emitted, eliminating the darkness surrounding the sky. Anah stood at the balcony, absorbing the enormous view the sky put on show. Watching the nature rise again, after a deep slumber in the darkness towards a new day, a new chapter.
The birds chirping, the flowers blooming as the warm rays of the sun fell around brightening the surrounding. The wind rustled, making her hair fly. The plants joining the rhythm. She closed her eyes as she felt the breeze prickles her face, refreshing feeling washing all over her. As the day had started, she was yet determined to do, what she had thought of!
I strode towards the guest room where Hammy had been the past few days. I entered the room, laughing at the sight that welcomed me. There Hammy was sprawled all over the bed, the blanket thrown down, his head under the pillow. An adoring smile found it to my lips.
It had been a week since i had the talk with Hammy. I did not raise the topic again to give him time to think about it. All the week i had done things that revived the memories of them together in the college. Today was no different and at the beginning, I was quite hesitant to take this step. But seeing the positive reaction from Hammy, i didn't let the hope die. Throughout the week we had been doing things to relive the memories. Hammy was smiling but there was still empty feeling down his heart which reflected in his eyes. But that didn't weaken me to step back.
I stood at the edge of the bed, calling Hammy's name to wake him up. After calling a few times, Hammy lift his head from the pillow. His hair all over the place, eyes still drowsy.
"Good morning "he croaked out.
"Good morning, Hammy. You need to get out of the bed. We are going out after breakfast. Today is an eventful day. Get freshen up soon. "
He nodded and lazily got up the bed moving towards the bathroom. It had been a while since Hammy got a nightmare. The medication and tiredness after going out would put him to sleep immediately. It was certainly having a positive impact since he would be in a better mood not to cut off anything i would plan for him.
After munching on the breakfast, both stood up to head over the door. I was excited for today, the smile often slipping from the cage.
I had planned to take Hammy to visit the Musical school. Although Hammy used to act annoyed, he used to get annoyed but music but I knew it that music is his passion and everything.
The day passed by in a bliss among the musical instruments. I was so happy to see Hammy feeling good after a long time .Hammy felt a deeper connection with the music as he too was recognized as an best musician at his school. He temporarily forgot about all the sorrows and problems shading his life, instead enjoying the moment with them.
Unknown to him, there was me who stood at the side gazing at him.
The sudden buzz in my pocket distracted me from staring. Checking the caller id, i moved away from the sight.
Receiving the call, I gave a positive response to the caller assuring them of something and quickly cut the call as i saw Hammy walking towards my direction.
It was around sunset that we had decided to take leave from the there .Giving everyone one last wave to his teachers we store out of the musical school.
A comfortable silence had surrounded in between us as we walked. We were drowned in our own pool of thoughts .So I strode forward, hailed a taxi to the destination i had been planning.
Hammy was confused, "where are we going now?"
I, smiled. "You will know when we reach there." Not giving a hint.
As the taxi took turn to the familiar street, I found Hammy tensed. His body restless. It increased all the more when the taxi stopped the place he wanted to forget.
His eyes seemed alarmed when he rolled his eyes towards the bar in front of him. His body appeared to be shaking and in a matter of seconds he turned himself towards my seat and spoke out loud.
"Why are we here?
Is that the reason that you first forced me to visit musical school and now all that once again in life? I can't handle the pain Anah. These things revive the memories which hurt and were locked away. I can't. Why aren't you understanding?"
From his facial expressions it was obvious that he was about to ask a list of questions so I interrupted him by placing my hand over his lips.
Now it was my turn to explain everything Hammy wanted to know so I told him that
No this time it's different, the same place which ruined your life will be the place for you to fulfill your dreams and live with it.
"Why are you doing this, you know I'm broken, I'm hopeless. I can't do this" came the whisper of the broken.
I stepped up, eyes twinkling with determination. "You are going to do it. Just let music be your guide and heal your wounds. Find the soul you once lost. Heal the broken hearts, fill the hopeless eyes. Let your voice be on flow"
"I want you to trust me, moreover trust what was so precious to you. Your singing, your music. "I stopped there as I didn't wanted to further pacify him.
And as I got the idea that he is not going to back away. We went out of the car and head towards the main entrance door of the bar secured by two bodyguards. Hammy seemed nervous too because he had no idea what's going to happen and he was a coward according to his theory of life, but I don't think so.
So when we entered into the bar we saw the man awaiting for us. I held Hammy's hands and head towards Mr.Athore. I introduced Hammy to him. They shook hands.
"So you are Hammy. I have to say that I have heard a lot on your part by this munchkin over there. I am glad that I would be able to see what you capable of." Mr.Athore was like an uncle to me. He was there in my crucial need. When I told him about Hammy, he asked me to bring him here.
Hammy's face was blank but his palms were Sweating. I could feel it since I had held his hand.
Mr. Athore then guided hammy towards the record room to do the necessities.
After sometime there was Hammy on the small stage of the club. He seemed so nervous. But he had to do this.
The spotlight shone on Hammy making everyone here to turn their attention to him. Hammy stood there. His eyes roaming everywhere until they landed on me.
I blinked my eyes in silent support. He adjusted the mike and with one last glance towards me, he closed his eyes and started singing.
.
Am I worth it?
Am I helpless?
Am I always dependent on you?
Am I fool to love you?
Questions I used to ask to myself
I know life wasn't easier for me
But
Now I need to
Be strong
Be brave and be patient
To live and to be happy
As if I'm the only shining star here
As If I was never broken
As if I was always happy
Now I need to
Change the world with my words
Or just sleep like the world is dead
I can't help but
Hearing your thoughts in every note
Thinking about what you said
Now I need to
Forget everything about you
But you know that I can't live without you
But that's how life goes on
I get lost in my own memories
Forgetting the present
Spoiling the future
But this needs to stop now
I need to wake up now
Have to stand through winds
And struggle through the waves
Yeah
I need to be
I need to be
I need to live...
.
Sometimes someone hurts you so bad, it stops hurting at all.
Until something makes you feel again
And then it all comes back
Every word
Every hurt
Every moment :(
Throughout the song, everyone's eyes were glued to the stage. Hammy seemed like to enter a different world. His hands coordinating with the tune. His eyes were closed the entire time, feeling the song he'd been singing.
The last strings of chord struck indicating the end of the song.
The tears slipped through the tight hold, gracing its way down. He slowly opened his eyes. The once lost light were slowly making its way. His eyes roamed all over, at last he eyes landed on me.
I couldn't stop the single tear and the grin that broke through. Smiling widely I nodded my head.
His lips twitched, a small smile graced his face. Thanking everyone, he got down the stage, stopping by Mr. Athore, who smiled appreciatively.
Taking the chance, I moved to the back stage. I met up with the man who was recording the song.
I took the copy of the video.
I walk back to Hammy, silently thinking of the next move to get him out of his cocoon!
Reaching him, I couldn't help but smile. Hammy smiled back. A small smile. His eyes filled with various emotions but a prominent aura of calmness had surrounded him.
I hugged him warmly to make him feel better.
He deserved to be happy, and this is only the beginning.
Singing was Hammy's passion. Now his voice portrayed all the emotions which were locked inside. The broken person he was. But held the strength to face the world.
I glanced around to see everyone mesmerized by his singing. I took a look back at hammy and sighed happily. This was the change, slowly attempting to trust his new life.
This night completely changed Hammy's life like no one ever expected it to be.
