The Enemy's Ambassador ⚜ Ch. 6

Royal Academy Diaries II

"And one two three, one two three. Keep to the beat," the music professor said.

"Why do we have to learn dancing in music class," Rolf whispered.

Yosef shrugged. "It's above my pay grade."

He let his hand slip around his waist a little, enjoying holding him close. Rolf knew that if he wasn't careful, his feelings for him would deepen. And he wasn't sure he wanted to be careful.

They spun around the room with the others, trying to get the steps. Next to them were Nico and Marit, dancing as flawlessly as anyone.

"You have two left feet, you know that Steidl?" Nico teased.

He rolled his eyes, trying to not step on Yosef's toes. The old gramma phone played the scratched up record, skipping a little every now and then. As the song played on repeat, Yosef began to hum along. Rolf smiled and watched as he closed his eyes.

They finally started to get the hang of the waltz, and he could focus less on the steps and more on his partner. He stopped humming and chuckled embarrassedly.

"Don't stop," Rolf murmured.

His eyes widened a little. "But the others might hear."

"And they'll think it's just as charming as I do," he assured him.

With a small smile, Yosef closed his eyes and started humming again. Rolf put his face close to his, and could smell the faint scent of his musky cologne.

When the record finally stopped, the professor clapped her hands. "Very good. You're starting to get it. We'll keep practicing tomorrow."

They stepped apart, albeit rather slowly, and smiled at each other. "Thank you for the dance, Sir," he said, taking his hand and kissing it.

Yosef's cheeks took on a red tint and he raked his hand through his hair. "Thank you."
