Chapter 68: Water Falls Moments
Demon: Book 1
Chapter 68
Water Falls Moments
My mother straightened my teal silk tie and made sure it laid right beneath my vest. She picked up the suit jacket off a chair and held me put it on. She looked beautiful in her teal dress with a matching jacket with a corsage on her wrist. I took a deep breath as she did up the button.
"Nerves getting to you."
I shook my head. "Excited."
She raised an eyebrow.
"And a few nerves."
Laughing she clasped my cheek. "You've been counting down to this day for months."
"It's just tonight," I whispered. "You know."
My mom hugged me. "Aden, you're my son. Werewolf, human, none of that matters, and if Titus doesn't want a visit from your father, he'll treat you right."
"Thanks, mom," I laughed.
She fixed the piece of fabric sticking out of my pocket. "You look very handsome. If only you have let me get the wedding dress."
"Mom." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm teasing, Aden." She gave me a content smile. "In one year you've grown up on me. Never thought you'd get married this quickly."
"Me either."
Rising up on her toes, she kissed my cheek. "At least I know, Xavier will keep an eye on you for me."
"Mom," I groaned. "Don't remind me. Having my father-in-law as my alpha isn't something I'm looking forward to."
"That's where we're have conflicting opinions." She grabbed her bag and headed for the door. "I'll see if they have the ATV ready."
"'kay." I faced the mirror and straightened out my black suit. This was it. Tonight I would mate with Titus, but before that I was getting married. "Oh my god." I ran my hand down my face. I was so nervous. I just wanted everything to go okay. My mother had everything planned down to the colored paper holding the utensils together, but becoming a werewolf.
I sat down on a nearby chair. I wanted to be with Titus, but every possible bad outcome was flooding my mind.
"Aden."
I looked up to see Titus, standing there in the same attire as me.
"Are you okay?"
Nodding, I stood. "Yeah."
He met me in the middle of the room and wrapped me up in his arms. We just stood there embracing one another. Knowing I'd have him by my side through it all was very calming, though.
"I love you," he whispered in my ear.
I cupped his face and kissed him. "I love you too." Stepping back, I smoothed out his suit jacket. "You look really nice."
"Wait until you see Darius. He's been moaning about it all morning. Kept telling me it's lucky were brother because he'll never spend a day pretending to be human again."
"You know," I scoffed. "I don't doubt that for a moment."
Titus chuckled. "Your mom took care of it, though. So don't worry."
"I don't doubt that either."
My mother cleared her throat. "The ATV outside, so when you two are ready, we'll be waiting for you."
"'kay, thanks mom."
She smiled and left us alone.
Titus grabbed my hand and slipped off my ring. "I can still get you a better one." He dropped it in his pocket.
I shook my head. "I only need one." A simple black ring with our initials carved into it was sitting in my pocket for him. Titus had insisted no more than that.
"Ready." He held out his hand.
I slipped mine into it. "Ready."
We walked down the cave halls outside and down to the parking lot. The ATVs were new. My mother had insisted they be fully encased, so she won't have to worry about dust.
"The glorious couple finally arrives," said Darius, leaning against the side of the vehicle. "You're with me princess. I'll get you and your prince charming to the wedding safely."
I trudged over and climbed inside. "You're the worst part of this marriage," I muttered.
Darius pretended to be hurt by the comment. "You cut me deep, Aden. Here I thought of you as a little brother, right Titus?"
"Hmmm... we might need to change packs." He closed the door.
Darius narrowed his eyes at us and slipped behind the wheel. "No one would take you," he muttered.
Storm rolled her eyes from the passenger seat. "Enough, it's their day. Stop teasing them."
"Yes, dear," he said in an airy voice. "Whatever you say."
We started down the road. Titus kept a hold of my hand as we bounced down the road.
"Darius, go slower," instructed Storm.
"Yes ma'am."
She smacked his arm.
Darius just laughed. "You look gorgeous. Human clothes suit you."
Storm smoothed out her dress. "As do you."
He scoffed and rolled his head to the side dramatically. "Whatever Aden's mom paid you, it's not enough. After today, it won't be happening again."
"We'll see," she said with a smile.
We fell silent for the rest of the journey. I stared out the window at the passing tree. We were almost there. My heart rate started to pick up. Titus let go of my hand and put his arm around my shoulder.
He brought me over to him and kissed the top of my head. "I'm nervous too," he whispered in my ear. "This is my first wedding I've been too, and it happens to me mine," he laughed softly.
I leaned against him and took a deep breath when Darius stopped the ATV.
"Alright love birds," Darius turned around in his seat. "We're going to go sit down, so whenever you're ready."
Darius and Storm exited the vehicle, and I glanced out the window to see them walking hand and hand through the trees where the ceremony would be held. My mother opened the door.
"So when you're ready, just do it like we practiced the other night, alright?" She leaned into the car and kissed my cheek. "I'm so happy for you."
"Thanks mom, you're support through all this really has meant everything for me."
She stood up straight outside the ATV and fanned her face. "Oh lord, I'm already crying. I'm going to be a mess." Clearing her throat, she dabbed at her eyes. "Okay, whenever you ready, no rush."
My father stepped up to the car. "Enjoy it, both of you. It's a day you'll always remember."
I nodded.
He pointed to Titus. "He's still my son. I'll take him back if you don't treat him right."
"I will," said Titus with a nod.
My parents left arm and with Rose right behind them. We sat there quietly for a couple minutes.
"Are you ready?"
A smile spread across my lips. "Yes, yes I am."
Titus stepped out of the vehicle and offered me his hand. I took it and climbed out. Our eyes met, and we both took a deep breath together. Hand and hand, we walked through the trees to the waterfall where Titus had asked me to marry him. My family filled one side, having been shuttled in early that morning. The pack was on the other. A couple more rows that had been added since the dress rehearsal.
"Oh god." I turned to Titus as we stood behind the wall covered in white flowers. "We should have eloped."
"Doesn't matter, your mother would've made us do a proper ceremony anyways."
I sighed. "True."
Titus signaled to the wedding planner, and the music started. He brought my hand to his lips and give it a simple peck. "I'm right here. I'll protect you from both our families," he winked at me.
Rolling my eyes, I rubbed my face. "Okay then, let's get married."
We walked to the aisle and waited as everyone stood. My heart was beating so fast as Titus led me down the white runner. Everyone looked happy for us, and it was helping me calm down. We stopped under the canopy with daisy twisted around the poles. Xavier glanced between us both. He took out his book with the vows. Titus and I held hands, facing each other as he said them. My eyes never wandered from his as we repeated them to each other.
"Titus do you take Aden as your husband?"
"I do," he stated with a smile as he slipped my ring onto my finger.
"Aden, do you take Titus as your husband?"
"Yes." I took the black ring from my pocket and place it on his finger. My hands were shaking, but Titus just smiled at me and waited for me to put it on properly.
"I now pronounce you lawfully wedded." He closed the book and stepped back.
Smiling at Titus, I stood up on my toes as he kissed me. The crowd clapped and I was sure I heard a whistle form Darius. We parted, and I just stared at him. We were married, and I couldn't be happier to call Titus my husband.
***
I felt exhausted. The reception had taken the last of my energy, but it had been fun. Putting the last of my clothes in my suitcase, I zipped it up. Today would be a one I'd always remember, my mother had put far more working into the wedding than I anticipated.
Titus poked his head into my bedroom. "Ready to go?"
I nodded and grabbed the smaller bag I packed for our honeymoon. I didn't think honeymoon was the right way to describe it though.
We walked downstairs where our parents were waiting.
"It was great mom." I dropped my bag and hugged her. "Thank you."
"We'll come visit you soon."
""kay."
We parted and I stepped toward my dad.
He pulled me into his arms. "You be careful. Do as Xavier asks. It harder than you think being a werewolf, so follow the rules."
I nodded. "I'm sure they'll let me know when I mess up."
Rose shuffled over and held her arms open. "I want one too."
Smiling, I hugged her. "Thanks for all your help today."
"It was fun." She rocked me back and forth. "I'm so happy to have you in the family."
We parted as she lifted my chin.
"I have a feeling you're going to be a very handsome werewolf."
"I hope," I laughed, hesitantly. "But who knows, Titus might be in for a disappointment."
My husband huffed at the comment. Xavier looked at me with a grin on his face.
"Sir," I held out my hand.
He brought me into his arms as well. It startled me, but I hugged him back.
"Welcome to the pack." He patted my shoulder, and moved out of the way so we could get through the door.
"Bye," I waved to everyone as Titus led me outside.
"Be safe," called my mother as we walked to the car. "Titus do look after him, and be gentle with him too."
"Mom," I hissed.
Titus opened my door and pushed me inside. "I will Mrs. Perri. He's safe in my hands."
I rolled my eyes and slammed the door. Titus tossed my bag in the trunk with his and slipped behind the wheel.
"So where are we off to?" I asked.
He started the car and started down the road. "Do you remember that falls I keep mentioning north of the cave?"
I nodded. "How are we supposed to get there though?"
Titus gave me a cheesy grin. "My dad called in a favor."
***
"Aden, we're here." Titus shook me gently.
I yawned and looked out the window of the helicopter.
Titus opened the door. I jumped down and started to stretch as Titus grabbed the bags. He gave the pilot a wave, and we hurried to get out of the way as he lifted off the ground. I hugged my arms around me. It was far colder up here, and there were still patches of snow on the ground. Titus undressed and shifted. I quickly went to his side. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I snuggled into his fur.
He laughed at me. "It's not that cold."
"You ran hot," I muttered. "You said so yourself."
Stooping down, he picked me up.
I stared at him wideyes. "What are you planning?"
"We need to go up there?" He glanced up a steep trail.
Groaning, I draped my arms over his shoulder.
"I'm willing to carry you."
"I know," I muttered, "and I'm too tired to argue, so just do it."
He brushed his cold nose against my cheek. I wiped the spot and narrowed my eyes at him. Putting me down, he grabbed the bags and bent over. I hopped onto his back and held on as he easily walked up the trail. I really hoped I got this super power as well. He stopped at when the trail leveled out and let me down. I could hear water nearby.
"Come on." He intertwined his fingers with mine and led me down the path.
I could see the river up ahead, but Titus stopped and led me through a cave with a low ceiling. Even I had to crouch to make it through. It opened up into a large room, but it was too dark for me to see much of anything else.
"Wait here." Titus ran off and I heard the winding of a lantern. He came back to my side and slipped behind me. He turned it on.
I smiled. A bed had been made in the middle of the room. Basket of desserts and other food in fancy packaging sat neatly near the wall. It was better than any honeymoon suit I had seen online.
"What do you think?"
"I love it," I tipped my head back and waited for a kiss. "Thank you."
He pressed his muzzle to my lips. I laughed at the weird tickling feeling from his fur.
"Oh wait there's one more thing." He hurried over to the other side of the room and slowly pulled back the hid.
"Wow," I breathed as I looked out over the forest. The ledge was high enough that we could see for miles. The moon sat in plain view with star all around it. "It's beautiful, Titus."
"I hoped you liked it. Darius kept telling me to take you somewhere tropical or an amusement park."
I walked over to him. "I prefer this. No one else gets to come here."
Titus shifted to human and put his arms around me. "I'll bring you back here next year if you want."
"I'd like that. It can be our anniversary trip."
He led me over to the bed and began taking off my clothes. I was tired, but if he wanted to mate tonight, I'd be okay with it. Titus and I climbed under the covers. He held me close to him. It helped warm me up from the journey here.
"How about we wait until tomorrow, the full moons not until then anyways."
I nodded. "Full moons matter then? I thought that was just human stories."
"Only to mated humans," he brushed the back of his hand over my cheek. "That's when you'll changed for the first time, and I'll get to see my mate as a werewolf."
"Don't be disappointed if I'm not exactly what you want."
"Impossible." He pressed his lips to mine. "Because you already are."
