The first one
Alecs mother Sofia Darren loved having people over just as much as her own parents did. They where not happy until they stuffed they're guest with at least one or two good meals and three types of homemade snacks.
She had only heard about Alecs pack thru the letters he wrote her. And she knew by those letters that he didn't remember anything but her and his dear father. Nothing of his old pack. Or the really bad days he had. About the bullying or that Allister boy.
Not even his grandparents who had been a big part of his life growing up. Especially after his father died. Cillian (keel-ie-an) Lynch-Darren. An border wolf born and raised in an Irish pack. After he had found his mate and the love of his life, he took her last name because he never had the kind of bond with his parents that his mate had. And this was his way to honor it.
Sarah and Isiah had loved that boy like he was they're own Son.
Alec was now sitting on the couch next to the curled up wolf form of a boy named Kit, looking at a picture book from when he was little. Smiling at pictures of the people he missed so much. James was placed next to the couch and kept a watchful eye on every thing around him. Alecs mom really like hearing her Son talk so lovingly about his wolf pack. He had changed so much. It was like he finally fit right into his own skin. Something he never had before...
Alec had never slept beter than he had those days after his brothers had come. Curled up around his brothers in a hand made nest in the corner of his room. Kit had used his time to carefully "borrow" a variety of pillows and blankets and soft fluffy sweaters from different pack members over these past couple of days.
James had apparently hunted alone last night ...the way he always hunts. Like a crazy dangerous madman...wolf..
Needless to say there had been a couple of... complaints.
Alec thought that the strange phone call Jacob had was probably about this.
But he would hear about it in the morning.
You know... after he had breakfast with his brothers at his mothers house.
Kit was the first to wake up like usual. He then started to wake them up.
Alec didn't like being awoken in the morning but James absolutely hated it!
So it was probably best if they stayed apart for a while. With himself as a buffer in between them.
His mother had made him breakfast. Finally a normal human breakfast he did not hate. Slices of toast with his grandmothers homemade butter.
It was simple but nice.
Kit kinda liked everything that was eatable, so he wasn't hard to pleas. James mostly went along with the rest and would never really tell wether he did or didn't like something. Only about important things. But after living mostly as a real wolf for the past two years Alec had changed a lot. And thinks like bacon and eggs or pancakes... he just didn't like them anymore.
He did like the simplicity of the crunchy toast and the soft and creamy butter.
And of course he would never ever not like the peach cobbler that the people in his family made with pride.
His grandmother had first thought her son in law to bake it but he had also told his mate how to make it. But his father was the one that really had loved to bake. And his mother's pie would never really match up to the one his father used to make...
'Jacob really seems a lot different ...' Alec started. He wanted to know what his mother thought about it. they hadn't had a real conversation about... wel everything since he got back.
'I suppose he has changed a lot the past years.' His mother nodded and tried to feed the dark brown wolf on the ground some more vanilla cookies.
'Do you think... do you think I should... you know.' Alec didn't like having conversations about stuff like this. He didn't even want to think about it. But he didn't know how to decide about this. He wanted what was best for his wolf and his pack. Did they need him? Did his old pack need him?
'I don't know sweets. That's something you wil have to decide yourself.'
'I thought you would say that.' Alec muttered. His mother laughed.
'Honey. Everybody always talks about the matingbond like it is the one true answer. Like it is the only thing to follow. Like you need to close your eyes, trust it completely and dive in head first...'
she sighed and went and sat on the light grey chair that his father used to love to read the paper in.
'I suppose... I was no better, but I was lucky. My parents had wonderful matingbond and my mate was a big sweetheart. He was so caring and selfless. He would do anything for the once he loved. Anything. You are so much like him.' Alec closed the book but kept his hand tightly wrapped around it.
'You are to much like him. You want to safe everybody. To protect everybody and make them so happy that you sometimes forget yourself in the process.'
Alec looked up to his mother. Her light brown hair was braided and she wore a pink knitted sweater and a dozen bracelets around her wrist made from leather and different kinds of beats in all colors and sizes. He looked more like his father than his mother. And not just in his looks.
But his mother had a keen sense of humor and liked to make a lot of sarcastic remarks that where not always appreciated by everyone. At least she did her best to make her dear son a little bit more sassy than her husband was. He was to sweet for those kinds of things.
'What do you want Alec? You don't have to stay just because fate mated you to someone. But you can always give it a change. Fate must have had his reasons.'
'But what if it is....What if Jacob is changed. What if... what if I could have what you had with dad. What if I never find anything like it ever again if I leave in a couple of days...' Alec fest up his fear. The fear he tried to not think about to much.
What if hating Jacob... would get in the way of his happiness.
What if this could work out... in time. Slowly...
He wasn't gonna fall head over heals in love. But perhaps...
' you don't have to rush honey. Time will tell. Just because you live somewhere else doesn't mean you can't visit. All will be well.' She told him.
She smirked.
'And if not. You eat some more pie!' Alec smiled back at his mother and put the picture book on the table.
She was right. He shouldn't worry. He didn't need answers right now. He could wait and see what happened.
'I wouldn't mind some more pie.' He joked.
'Of course not I raised you well!'
Kit yipped and pushed his nose deep into Alecs sweater. He petted his friend and leaned back into the couch.
He had really missed this pie!
To be safe Alec told Kit to join James on his hunting trip. They took turns in hunting and because they sometimes ate a meal or two in their human forms. They didn't need to hunt as much.
Sam found them playing near the forest and told him Jacob was looking for him. He was in the Alfa suite of the packhouse so Alec tried to find it.
He had never really been there. When Alec was young and Jacobs dad was the Alfa he had only seen the man from afar. Now he lived with his wife in an other pack.
Giving full control to their son the new Alfa. A wolf only became an Alfa after he or she found their mate... apparently it didn't matter is said mate hung around or not.
Jacob must be busy he thought...
He had college, his Alfa duties and a mate to try and court. But maybe Finn and Sam helped him a lot with his duties. Also the ash pack was not as big as other packs. Everything just kinda went along as always and the Alfa was more of a supervisor.
Alec never liked spending his time in the packhouse like other young wolf use to do.
Most unmated wolfs usually hung around there when they were 16 or 17 years old.
After they mated they bought a house or had one made for them before starting their own little family. Alec wondered for a moment what Jacob would do for a heir.
Usually one of the born Alfa children would take over. But they couldn't have kids the old fashion way .... maybe they would adopt...
Alec shook his head. Way to soon to be even thinking about those things!
'Alec!' Relieved He turned around to find Jacob leaning against an open doorway.
He had been rooming the hallways not even paying attention and apparently walked right past the Alfa suite.
A small blush crept up his face.
'You were looking for me?'
Jacob smiled.
'Yea... I wanted to spent some more time with you. I am almost done with my work.I was thinking maybe we could go for a walk. Or maybe just chat somewhere?'
Alec nodded slowly.
'Sure... what do you usually do in your free time?' He asked. He never knew if Jacob had some secret hobby or not. When he was young he just hung around with friends and did normal kid things. Running, swimming, being annoying brats, playing games.
'I hang with my friends. Watch some movies. Finn makes me join him with gaming sometimes.' He shrugged.
'What about you?'
'Oh I love to play with the nymphs and the dryads! I go running with my friends. We go swimming a lot. Sometimes we play chase with some of the other shifters.'
Jacob smiled and beckoned him inside.
'Are there many different shifters?' He asked.
Alec nodded while looking around.
He had never been here before.
The room was quit simple. A big tv on the wall with a couch in front of it. A bunch of games and dvds around it. He had a desk with a bunch of work related stuff on it and a laptop and such and there were two more doors. One to the bedroom and one to the bathroom probably.
Jacob went to sit on the coach and Alec joined him.
'Some bears, a hyena... uhm ... there are a couple of felines who form there own little pride. And of course my Wolfpack and then the dragon.'
This peeked Jacobs interest.
'There is a dragon?' He asked with a frown.
Alec nodded.
'Yea! But don't worry he is really nice and friendly. I suppose al dragons are kinda possessive. But if you don't touch his treasure, your good!' Alec reassured him.
Jacob smiled.
'You don't hear many good things about dragons nowadays... after that dragon war a couple of years ago.' He shook his head.
Alec knew there had been a big war between a couple dragon clans but maybe Jacob as an Alfa knew way more about it.
'Yeah.... Bane lost most of his family in that war. So he made a deal with Sil to save one of his loved once.' The young dragon was not even near a hundred years old and still pretty aggressive from time to time. But there was little Bane would not do for those he cared about!
Alec being one of them after what had happened between them about three weeks ago. He wondered if it was a good idea to let Jacob in on that though.
It was probably not.
