Chapter 303 - Coincidence

“Please go at your own pace. Don’t let me interfere with your work,” said Yun Xiangxiang tenderly.

She lowered her head, hiding her emotions from Song Mian, but he knew what she was thinking about. She would be upset if he got out of his way just for her.

He was worried about Yun Xiangxiang, but she wasn’t going to have any of it. Song Mian couldn’t blame her for it either. He was in a dilemma.

“I promise you that I won’t abandon my business for personal reasons. Do trust that I would have finished what I am working on before I come for you,” said Song Mian softly.

“I know you will finish your work before coming for me.” Yun Xiangxiang corrected it. “I just don’t want you to finish five days of work in one day.”

Song Mian could go straight to her if he wanted to be with her. Nobody could force him to stay and finish his work.

But he had responsibilities. He couldn’t do whatever he wanted. He wasn’t trying to do anything noble like saving the whole world.

It was his responsibility as the successor of the Song Family to keep on working on medicine. That was the weight of the pride and legacy of many generations on his shoulders.

He was the one leading the whole Song Family. He could never allow anyone to surpass his family.

He couldn’t stop working just because the Song Family was dazzling now. If he did, the Song Family would sooner or later be surpassed. The consequences of slothfulness were eradication.

It took generations of leaders to create a family that could stand at the top, but it only needed one generation to destroy it.

Song Mian wasn’t that kind of person. She would never fall in love with someone like that.

If Song Mian needed to spend more time with her, he would have to push himself to the limit, spending more energy to finish the same work quicker.

This wasn’t something Yun Xiangxiang wanted to see. “Ah Mian, never let me think that it’s better for you to have never met me.”

If he hadn’t met her, he would never mess up his pace. He would never ignore his health because of her.

“Why are you thinking that way?” Song Mian was planning to work overtime and end it sooner. But now that his girlfriend gave him an ultimatum, he cancelled what he had in mind.

“Your work can be dangerous. I don’t want me or my troubles interfering with your work. It might end up hurting you or worse.”

Yun Xiangxiang pondered upon it. “I want all our memories of love to be sweet. I hope you can accept that accidents can and will happen to me. I want to be able to accept that you will get injured, and that’s not because you were rushing because of me.”

Couples could feel sad for their partner, but they should never mess up their lives for them.

“I have a girlfriend with a unique mind,” Song Mian thought about the so-called love tactics Song Yao told him.

One of the tactics stated that the boyfriend must be nervous for his girl, even if she loses just one strand of hair.

Song Mian gave this response, “It’s normal for humans to lose more than fifty strands of hair per day.”

Now he understood what Yun Xiangxiang meant. Just like how humans would lose their hair every day, some things just couldn’t be avoided. He should see accidents as such blips in life.

“I’m just an ordinary girl.” Yun Xiangxiang made a face at him.

The couple went back to talking about pleasant things. As the couple kept on being sweet, someone was scheming against them.

Yun Xiangxiang would never expect Faye to be here. But she didn’t follow Yun Xiangxiang. Faye was sent here first.

What Faye did disappointed Eric. Eric thought what his daughter did was unbecoming of a noble aristocrat.

Not long after her birthday party, Eric sent Faye to this place. He wanted her to stay away from the temptations of life and calm down.

Faye had never been punished so severely by her father before. Now she hated Yun Xiangxiang more.

She underestimated Yun Xiangxiang in her last scheme. Faye thought Yun Xiangxiang was just an ordinary eighteen-year-old.

But she forgot an ordinary girl wouldn’t have been able to catch Song Mian eye in the first place.

Faye wouldn’t underestimate her anymore. She would do everything to destroy Yun Xiangxiang’s reputation.

Faye had her people keep an eye on Yun Xiangxiang. She was surprised that the girl would come to her unknowingly.

“You say reporters follow her, and her stories are sold to China?” Faye lowered her voice as she asked her butler.

“Yes, miss,” The butler replied respectfully. “But they haven’t gotten any valuable news yet.”

“Seems like she has offended a lot of people.” They must be spending a lot of money to hire foreign reporters to follow her every move. They must want that girl to fall.

“Her base of operations is in China. What luck.” Faye took out a white rose from the vase and took in its fragrance. Her gaze darkened. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend. And friends should help one another, no? Here, you go and...”

The scenes that would be shot after Yun Xiangxiang was done filming for the next day would be outdoors. As she wouldn’t be involved in it, she planned to take a stroll around the place.

Even if she couldn’t travel around France, she should take a look around where she was. Yun Xiangxiang went with Song Qian by her side.

A car suddenly stopped by the roadside, and a stranger came out of it.

“Hello, Miss Yun. Our young miss is here too. She wants to invite you to dinner,” the man was polite.

“Your young miss?” Yun Xiangxiang could guess who it was.

“Our young miss is Faye Cardicra.”

I knew it. Yun Xiangxiang smiled. “Please tell Miss Faye that we aren’t at the point where we can have dinner together.”

Yun Xiangxiang left with Song Qian. The man didn’t follow her. Instead, he went back to the car and left after sending them off.

Yun Xiangxiang went to the party back then because she didn’t know Faye existed. Nor did she know what kind of person Faye was. Now that she knew, Yun Xiangxiang didn’t see the need to get along with Faye.

“She can’t be following me, right?” Yun Xiangxiang was worried.

“I’ll investigate this,” Song Qian couldn’t let Faye attack Yun Xiangxiang.

Yun Xiangxiang’s worries were unnecessary. Song Qian found out that Faye was here earlier. She came here right after the party was finished.

Faye couldn’t be waiting for them unless she knew they would be filming here.

It wouldn’t be hard to find out where they would be filming. The crew knew that. But Yun Xiangxiang didn’t think Faye would do that.

Them bumping into each other here was purely coincidental.

Since that day onward, Faye would send someone to invite Yun Xiangxiang for dinner.

Yun Xiangxiang rejected the invite for three days in a row. Faye’s men did not insist. They merely left every time they were rejected.

Yun Xiangxiang could see Faye’s persistence. If she refused to meet Faye, heavens knew how much longer she would keep this up.

On the fifth time Yun Xiangxiang was invited, she agreed to it. Yun Xiangxiang was about to leave this place and go to the next for her filming.
