Chapter one

More reasons to stay

He was not my first love, not even a love to me at all. We had both gotten drunk and one way or the other ended up in his bed.

I knew him, everyone did. The youngest billionaire. Daddy left a lot of fortune for him and he was able to work his way to being successful.

I work as a clinical social worker, I live pretty well, plus both mom are dad are ready to support me till I'm married.

I had ended it, my four years study where I read sociology, I was about getting my life started as a 22 year old lady when it happened.

I remember the morning I woke up beside him, we both woke up together.

I remember him from the night before at the VIP club because we kept glancing at each other.

Seconds later, I began having mental pictures of how it happened. I was drunk, yes, but I tend to still remember things.

I had wanted to leave the restroom when we bumped into each other. He had told me he was there cause he was dealing with a breakup and I told him I was there only to celebrate a perfect life for me.

He told me he was yet to find a perfect way to deal with his pain and drowning in alcohol hadn't helped.

My phone rang. It was my mom and he offered to drop me. I agreed.

We talked in his car and apparently, he caught his girlfriend cheating and he was planning on ending it. He knew he was at fault, always too busy with work.

We were almost close to his place and I agreed we stopped at his place for a little while. I couldn't believe I had trusted him, a total stranger.

He had driven into the garage with the only source of light coming from there being his headlight.

I didn't even know when we started kissing. He said he felt he was gonna feel better if he took revenge. And I let him, I'd be more than happy to make someone else happy in my drunken state.

My phone rang, it was my mom and he had helped me turn off my phone and placed it in his pocket.

And then we had moved into his house and it had happened one way or the other.

"You should get going" he told me as he robbed his palm over his face.

I stared at him in surprise and anger at the same time.

"What do you take me for? A one night stand?" I asked with that anger.

He licked his lip as he got up the bed. He stretched my clothes to me which was laying right on the floor helplessly.

I stared at him in anger refusing to get the dress from him. He immediately dropped it on the bed as he turned to walk away.

"Make sure you're gone before I get back from the bathroom" he said walking off.

I stared at him in surprise, in disgust in fact. Was he for real???

I didn't want to argue. In fact, I never wanted to be there.

*****

I slowly opened the door to sneak into the house but to my surprise, mom was standing right in front of the door.

"Gosh! You startled me" I told her with my hands placed over my chest.

"Where have you been?" she asked.

"Uh... I've been with Trace" I let out.

"I called her, she was worried too. You left the club half drunk, she couldn't find you. She was more than worried" my mom let out.

"So she couldn't just lie for me?" I asked myself in a low tone.

"I didn't give her the chance too, plus I had dropped like 40 missed calls. I was worried" she told me.

"My phone must have been on mute" I said as I began searching through my purse for my phone.

I remembered, I had left it with him, my one night stand.

Who was he?

Joe Mason.

I gave a deep sigh as I walked away.

"Don't come knocking, I'll be asleep" I told her.
