Chapter nine

More reasons to stay

I moved closer to her in anger. I was going to be civil about things, but I hoped she saw it too.

"Stop it. Whatever news it is you're spreading about my family, just stop it" I voiced out.

There it was, I saw it, she was obviously among the list of people who wouldn't accept I'm good enough for Mason.

What was wrong with me???

Nothing at all

I have my own fortune too or what, is it cause I'm not working in one of my dad's big companies or cause I'm with him as just the mother if his kids???

"Your family?" she asked.

"It's not a family. You both, you deserve better than each other. You should see that now before it's too late for you to have a proper life"

"My family is just fine" I told her.

"You've sinned against God. You're living with this man, sleeping with him, and he's not your husband. Not only that, you've got two kids for him and counting... You really think you can turn your life around if you go too far in this?" she asked me.

"But yet, that man wouldn't cheat" I told her.

"I made my research. Your husband, what is he again? A cheat. You've filed for divorce just cause he's a cheat and you somehow end up forgiving him, backing up your divorce process. You should learn to keep your own life in place before you try to keep mine"

"I did it cause I know with prayers, God would help him see. See the importance of family and commitment"

"Well, my God would help him see too, that which he is missing in a family"

I hated her speech, everything about it. Nothing concerned her about my relationship with Mason. Who did she think she was with all those advice?

"I'd say it for the last time Mrs. Carolina, you stop it, the rumors, or else, you'd be shocked with what I'll be doing"

"It's not rumors, it's the truth. They all envy you, the mothers around. But really, do they know the truth? Do they know you're only with him cause of the kids?" she asked me.

"It's more than just that Mrs. Caroline" I said walking away.

Through out my drive home, I was angry. For some reason, I was surprised, I wasn't sad as I expected, no, but I was more than angry.

*****

I was getting dressed. Everything was already set for his parents death anniversary. He hadn't gotten home yet, when i heard the door open, I thought it was him. But it was just Ellie.

"Hey baby!" I called smiling.

She walked over to me requesting I helped with the zip of her dress

"I talked to your teacher already" I told smiling as I landed a kiss on her shoulder.

She smiled at me through the mirror and it melted my heart.

Didn't I just love this kid!??

"Go put on your shoes" I told her bidding her off.
