Chapter 14

"You're going to stop doing that project immediately." Jin suddenly barged into Nayeon's room.

"Why would I do that?"

"Because I tell you so!" Jin pushed his sister.

"No. It's going well. I have no reason to stop it."

"Listen to me you little shit. You're either stopping that project or..."

"Or what? What are you going to do? Beat me up again?" Nayeon is sick of this. She's sick of getting threatened all the time.

"I know you're working with Chou Y/N to stop me from becoming the CEO. Even if you combine your power with Chou Y/N's, it still won't be enough to stop me." Jin went closer to her.

"I know you paid that family to not move out out of that apartment. It seems like your own achievements aren't good enough so you had to sabotage mine." Nayeon smirked. She didn't know that Jin was the one that paid them, but Y/N told her.

"Listen to me. I will make your life a living hell, Nayeon-ah. You'll never win."

"Then why are you so scared?" Nayeon chuckled but Jin got so angry that he slapped her. He's just like his father. As if it isn't enough that she gets abused by her father, she also gets abused by her brother.

"Hit me as much as you want, but it won't change the fact that I'm successful. Now leave my room!" Nayeon pushed him harshly. Luckily the guy didn't continue and just left. Nayeon started crying once again. Not because she's sad, but because she's angry. She wants to destroy him. She's sick of her family and this house. She's sick of getting mistreated and abused. She thought about moving out and distancing herself from her family many times, but then that will mean that she's a coward. She doesn't want them to get away with what they did to her. She needs to show them that she can be stronger and more successful than them.

"Nayeon-ah? Are you okay?" Nayeon's mother knocked on her door as she entered.

"I'm fine." Nayeon wiped her tears away.

"Why is your cheek red? Did he hit you again?" Nayeon does get along with her mother, but the woman is a coward. She has no power in this house, so she never ever protected Nayeon from Jin and her father.

"It doesn't matter. I need to go." Nayeon stood up from her bed.

"Nayeon-ah, just give up already. They're going to hurt you badly. You can't go against them."

"Are you serious, mom? Stop being such a coward! Stand up for yourself for once! Aren't you sick of getting abused too? When are you finally going to start acting like my mom? When are you finally going to protect me and support me in whatever I'm doing?" Nayeon yelled. Her mom is in the same situation as her so she should understand her but no she doesn't.

"Never, right? You're never going to do that. I guess I'm alone in all of this then." Nayeon walked away and left her house.

"Y/N-ssi, where are you right now?" Nayeon called Y/N. She needs to talk to her about the project.

"I'm at my office. Why?"

"Can I come by? We need to talk." Nayeon informed.

"It'll be suspicious if you come by a lot. I'll text you an address, meet me there in an hour."

"Okay." Nayeon said and hung up. Y/N send her a text and Nayeon went there in an hour, just like Y/N told her to. This place isn't that far from Chou Holdings. It seems like it's an office or an apartment, Nayeon isn't sure. She went to the third floor just like the text message said and there she saw Chou Y/N's name on one of the doorbells so she pressed it.

"Come in." Y/N opened the door and Nayeon entered.

"What is this place?" Nayeon looked around.

"My apartment. I got this one for my birthday three years ago but I don't stay here that often."

"Why? This place looks amazing."

"I'd rather stay with my family." Y/N answered. She wants to spend her free time with her family especially with Tzuyu and Chaeyoung.

"You must be close to your family if you'd rather stay with them than stay here."

"You can say that. Why? Wouldn't you like to stay with your family?" The CEO questioned.

"No. I wish I could move out but I can't."

"Why not? You're 25, can't you have your own place?"

"I asked my dad once but he told me that if I want to become a CEO I should live at home." Nayeon sighed.

"It must be hard living with that brother of yours."

"Yeah, tell me about it." Nayeon sighed as she sat down at the table.

"Coffee?" Y/N asked.

"Actually uhm do you have ramen? I'm starving."

"Of course I do. Did you finish the ones in your office already?" Y/N laughed.

"No, I can barely eat them because people keep coming in." Nayeon said in frustration.

"I don't get why everyone in ImTech is so against it. We have nothing like that at Chou Holdings."

"Then maybe I should join Chou Holdings." Nayeon joked.

"You're always welcome to join us." Y/N joked as well. Y/N started to cook the ramen while Nayeon was just looking around the apartment.

"I'm guessing no one knows about this place?" She asked.

"No, only my family and you now. You can't keep coming to the company to see me. We should try to not see each other that often, and if we have to, let's meet here. I'm sure Jin is following you around." Y/N suggested.

"He threatened me today."

"He did?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"Yeah, he knows you're helping me. This is not going to be easy, Y/N-ssi. That guy is crazy, he can go all the way to achieve his goal." Nayeon worried.

"But so can we, right? Here eat some." The CEO put the cooked ramen in front of Nayeon.

"I'm just worried that we might be digging our own grave."

"That won't be happening. I won't let that happen. If I were so easy to beat then he wouldn't see me as his rival."

"What do you suggest we do? I mean we need to do something. He's going to try to sabotage the project." Nayeon questioned as she slurped her noodles.

"He's probably following everything related to the project. Once he sees a crack in it, he'll attack so we need to send him a wrong message."

"Wrong message? How?"

"That friend of yours, that manager. What is her name again?" Y/N questioned.

"Jeongyeon?"

"Yes she. Tell her that you're planning to buy the two buildings next to the area as well. Say that you want to expand the area."

"But we're not going to do that." Nayeon is confused.

"Exactly, he needs to THINK that we will." Y/N emphasized.

"Okay, but why would I tell Jeongyeon?" Nayeon asked and Y/N sighed. Nayeon still needs to learn a lot.

"She's going to tell Jin and Jin will try to stop you from buying those buildings. He'll be so occupied with that, that we'll have the chance to advance with the reconstruction."

"How are you so sure that she'll tell him?"

"It's obvious she's working for him. Don't tell me that you still think that you can trust her." Y/N raised her eyebrows. Nayeon can't be that stupid, right?

"I'm still not sure if she's the one that told him."

"Okay, then see this as a test. You'll tell her and if Jin finds out then that means that she's working for him, if he doesn't then that means she's still your loyal friend." Y/N smiled.

"Okay. I'll tell her tomorrow." Nayeon gave in and an awkward silence followed afterwards while the two just continued to eat.

"Why is your cheek so red?" Y/N noticed it ever since Nayeon came. It isn't her whole face that's red, it's just one side.

"Oh, probably because it's hot in here." Nayeon lied but Y/N of course didn't believe it.

"But it's cold in here. Are you sick?" Y/N suddenly stood up and touched Nayeon's forehead startling her.

"You're not warm." Y/N shook her head. She looked closer at Nayeon's face and it looks like she got hit. Y/N decided to touch Nayeon's cheek and by Nayeon's hissing she could confirm her guess. It looks like it hurts.

"Yah, why are you touching me without my permission?" Nayeon pushed Y/N's hand away.

"I thought you were sick."

"I'm not, so stop touching me."

"Okay." Y/N sighed and she suddenly went to the freezer. There she got an ice pack and placed it in front of Nayeon.

"What is this for?" Nayeon questioned.

"Your cheek. I know it hurts."

"Why would it hurt?" There's no way that Y/N could see that someone hit her, right?

"Aish, don't be so stubborn and take it." Y/N gestured to the ice pack.

"I don't need it."

"Fine, then I'll do it." Y/N took the ice pack and placed it against Nayeon's cheek. Nayeon was touched by Y/N's movement. Why is this CEO making her feel butterflies in her stomach? She has liked people before, but this feels different. Maybe because this time she actually doesn't want to fall for the person in front of her.

"That's better, right?" Y/N asked after a while. Still holding it.

"Yeah, thanks. I can hold it myself though." Nayeon took it from Y/N.

"I'm not going to ask what happened, don't worry. But if you want to tell me, you can."

"Why would I tell you? You and I are just business partners, I'm not going to tell you my personal things." Nayeon said harshly.

"Okay, I'm not forcing you. We may be just business partners, but I am human after all. I can see that someone hurt you and it worries me." Y/N admitted. She knows that Jin is a psychopath that might be abusing his sister, but then again it might have been Mr. Im as well.

"Mind your own business, Y/N-ssi." Nayeon suddenly stood up and was about to leave.

"I'm sorry." Y/N stopped Nayeon holding her arm. "If someone hurts you, please tell me." Nayeon looked into Y/N's eyes and it really looked like Y/N was worrying.

"No one is hurting me except for you right now." Nayeon eyed the hand on her arm and Y/N immediately pulled away.

"I'll let you know when I tell Jeongyeon. I'll get going now." Nayeon said and left Y/N's apartment.

"You're being difficult huh, Im Nayeon?" Y/N asked herself once the girl left.
