Chapter 35

"Are you ready?" Y/N asked as she squeezed Nayeon's hand in her car. They're in front of ImTech right now. Y/N managed to arrange a board meeting and everyone who has important ties to ImTech will be present.

"I'm nervous." Nayeon answered.

"Don't be. We'll succeed, okay?" Y/N assured her and with that the two left the car. The moment they left the car they got bombarded with questions from reporters. There are a lot of them. Apparently the news that there will be a meeting got out.

"Ms. Chou, why did you buy so many shares of ImTech?"

"What is the relationship between you two?"

"Ms. Im, how do you feel about your father having an affair?" Those were the most frequent asked questions but the two women ignored the questions and walked into the company as fast as they could.

"Are you okay?" Y/N asked once they got in and Nayeon nodded.

"Let's go." And with that the two went to the meeting room. The moment they stepped in all eyes were on them. Mr. Im, Jin, Jeongyeon and a lot of directors, shareholders and investors were present including Mr. Myoui, who is the third largest shareholder of the company.

"Since everyone is here, we can start." Jin said and everyone sat down. Y/N sat down close to the head of the table while Nayeon sat at the end, next to her brother.

"Why did you ask us to gather here, Ms. Chou?" One of the directors asked.

"As you guys might have seen the stock prices are very low right now. The prices have dropped insanely and the company is starting to lose money because of that. We're going to need to come up with a solution. As a big investor in this company and as the second largest shareholder, I want this company to succeed not fail." Y/N explained and she could see from the corner of her eye how everyone is nodding.

"I agree, I invested a lot in this company and I don't want my money to go to waste." Mr. Myoui agreed.

"That won't happen. Yes, the stock prices have dropped but that can be fixed and it will be fixed. You won't regret investing in ImTech." Jin protested.

"As long as Mr. Im is the CEO, I don't think the prices will rise again. The public isn't taking the news of your affair very well. I even heard that some of your business partners don't want to work with you anymore. Is that true?" Y/N turned to Nayeon's father.

"It is true. Some of our partners pulled away." His director answered instead of him.

"I don't think you'll be able to attract any new ones either. I mean it isn't very acceptable to have an affair, is it?" Y/N chuckled and Mr. Im hit the table in front of him, startling everyone. Y/N is really provoking him.

"So what are you suggesting, Chou Y/N?" He glared at her.

"Step down as the CEO." She said and the man started to laugh.

"Why would I?"

"From what I've heard you want to step down in a few years anyways, why wait? Might as well just step down now." Y/N glanced at Nayeon and Nayeon looks pretty nervous.

"I build this company. There's no way that I'm leaving this company already." His plan was to step down in like two years, not now. It's too soon, besides Jin isn't ready yet.

"You don't have to leave the company, you just have to leave your position." One of the shareholders added.

"I think we should have a vote wether or not to change the CEO." Y/N suggested.

"Didn't you hear me? I don't agree with this." He clenched his teeth.

"You might not agree, but everyone in this room has a say about this company. All of our shares combined is way more than what you have. That's why according to the law, we'll have a vote. Does everyone agree?" Y/N asked and most of them nodded.

"What if he gets voted out? Who will take his place?" Mr. Myoui asked.

"If that happens, there's only one person that I'll allow to be the CEO and that's my son Im Seokjin. There's no way, I'll step down if it's someone else." Mr. Im said in a serious tone.

"I nominate Im Nayeon. Your daughter. I think she could be a great CEO." Y/N informed and everyone started talking upon themselves, shocked by Y/N's nomination.

"I already said that it will be Jin. If it's Jin, I'll step down like you want me to, but I won't otherwise."

"Why? Nayeon is your daughter. She's also an Im, she has the same surname and she has your blood. Why can't she be the next CEO?" Y/N questioned.

"She had one project and that project is failing. How can she run this company?" Jeongyeon spoke up, making Nayeon widen her eyes. So her apology was basically bullshit? She's going against her once again.

"She's right. Isn't that project the reason why the stock prices dropped in the first place?" The director asked.

"Those were false rumors. Here's proof that the project is doing well and that it's already making profit. The news that got released is not true at all." Nayeon stood up and handed them some papers.

"These are the real reports and if you don't believe it, you can go look at the area yourself. There's a lot of improvement there already and it will be ready soon, which will only bring more profit afterwards." Nayeon added.

"I've been to the area myself to see if it's true. I can confirm that those rumors are indeed false." Y/N defended and Jin laughed.

"She can't handle this company. She's been working here for how long? Three years? She doesn't know anything yet and this was her first project. Even her first project isn't going smoothly and let's not forget the fact that without Chou Y/N's help, she wouldn't even have a project in the first place. I'm the one that knows this company in and out. I've been working here for about 10 years and I've never left my dad's side, so I know how these things work and I've had multiple successful projects. I'm sure you already know that." Jin tried to convince them. Nayeon is very worried at this point because everything he said is true.

"I trust that Im Nayeon will do a better job. She has the qualities to be a CEO. You might have shown some great results, but you've never shown anyone that you can stand on your own feet. Your dad is always the one that's behind everything you do. While Nayeon-ssi did this project herself, without anyone's help." Y/N said and Mr. Im chuckled.

"So you're really going to act like you didn't help her from the very beginning? Very cruel Chou Y/N."

"How about first we vote on if Mr. Im should step down and then we'll vote for who'll become the next CEO?" Mina's father asked.

"I don't think we can make the decision already. I mean it's so sudden and I don't think we've seen enough of both nominees. I think we should have some time to think and research before voting." One of the shareholders said and everyone agreed with him.

"Then it's settled. We'll have the vote next week." One of the directors said and that was the end of the meeting.

"Goodbye, Ms. Chou. It was nice to see you again." Everyone bowed to her and to Mr. Im and left, leaving only them, Nayeon, Jin and Jeongyeon behind.

"Well I guess we'll see each other next week again. Let's go Nayeon-ah." The two were about to leave but stopped when Mr. Im spoke up.

"You two. Wait." He approached Nayeon and Y/N. "Jin close the door." He demanded and his son did as he was told.

"Don't you think you're going a bit too far?" He asked Y/N.

"No, I'm just doing what I should do as the second largest shareholder." Mr. Im is already very angry that she managed to get her hands on so many of the shares. At this point she could easily ruin ImTech. He needs to find a way to get back those shares.

"I can't believe you're really partners with this girl, Nayeon-ah. You two are pretty strong together, huh?" The man laughed.

"You won't be laughing next week, believe me." Y/N warned and he suddenly held Y/N by her collar. Nayeon got worried and was about to stop him, but Y/N gestured her not to.

"Listen to me. I'm going to say this only once. Either you stop trying to bring me and Jin down or you'll regret it."

"The only regret I have is that I waited so long to do this." She pushed him away from her. "I won't be holding back anymore."

"Leave her alone, dad." Nayeon came in between the two.

"She's using you to get to us yet you're here defending her. Who is she even, huh? You're really taking her above your family?" Jin asked.

"What family are you talking about? The family where everyone is abusing everyone? The family that took away my best friend from me?" She looked at Jeongyeon, but Jeongyeon just looked away. "At least Y/N is helping me to get what I want."

"You'll regret trusting her." Jeongyeon said.

"I regret trusting you." Nayeon stared at her. "And I regret trusting my own family. I regret not standing up for myself and let mysef get abused for years! I fucking regret that you're my family!" She yelled and the man was about to slap her, but Y/N stopped him holding his arm.

"Don't you dare hurt her. Hurt her one more time and I won't hesitate to hurt you." Y/N said in a scary tone. Mr. Im and Jin aren't questioning her sincerity, they know she could do it, but does she really care that much about Nayeon?

"We're leaving. We'll see you next week." Y/N held Nayeon's wrist and with that the two left.

"Aish, I'm going to kill both of them! How dare they to turn MY shareholders and MY investors against me!" He said angrily.

"Dad, I didn't want to say this in Nayeon's presence because I don't think she knows about this, but Jeongyeon and I found something." Jin said trying to calm him down.

"Will it be useful?" The CEO asked.

"I think it would. We actually have two things that could be useful." Jeongyeon informed.

"I've been following Y/N since you asked me to and I found out that she went to the hospital to take a DNA test secretly. It was very hard to get that information since it's not even in the records, but I found out that she did a DNA test. Apparently Y/N has a half-sister which she didn't know about."

"And how is that going to help us, Jin?" His father asked.

"Her half-sister is Park Jihyo. The daughter of the Parks. That means that one of Y/N's parents is a Park."

"Oh my God. Now that is shocking indeed." He laughed.

"I looked more into it and according to my research Mrs. Park and Mr. Chou were married before and they had Y/N. Afterwards they got divorced and both got re-married. None of the children knew about this, I mean at least until now." Jeongyeon explained.

"That's why she's so angry, huh? We killed her biological mother." He laughed even more. "As if it is my fault that that woman couldn't take care of her own child and made someone else take care of it."

"Anyways, what is the second thing?"

"You're not going to be happy about the second thing." Jin said and handed him some pictures. The man looked at it and he got very confused.

"What is this? Who are these?!" He yelled. He hopes it's not what he thinks it is.

"It's Y/N and Nayeon." Jeongyeon answered and the man kicked the table in front of him. The pictures show Y/N and Nayeon kissing and being close.

"What the fuck is this, huh? Don't tell me she's using my daughter like that?! I can't believe they're fucking around, they're two girls for God's sake. What will happen when these get out, huh? We will be ruined!"

"Jeongyeon-ah, you know Nayeon a bit better than us. Are they just fucking around or is there more?" Jin asked.

"I'm not sure what Y/N's intentions are, but I can tell that Nayeon has feelings for Y/N."

"She's taking advantage of her feelings. That's why Nayeon is turning against us, she's being manipulated by that bitch! And what feelings are these even? Aren't there any boys left for her to like? Why does she have feelings for a girl?!" The CEO yelled angrily.

Y/N and Nayeon drove back home and both of them were silent for the entire ride. It's clear that both of them are in deep thoughts. Finally they arrived home and when they walked in they got bombarded with questions by Y/N's family. Y/N told them everything that happened.

"I think you're going too far. That man is dangerous, Y/N. If you provoke him too much, he can kill you." Mr. Chou informed.

"Don't you think I know that? I'm not doing anything illegal or wrong. I'm just playing his game."

"This is making me nervous, I have a bad feeling about this." Her mother said.

"Are you okay, Nayeon-ah?" Y/N asked Nayeon who was sitting next to her. She's been quiet ever since they left the company.

"I'm okay. Don't worry." She smiled weakly and held Y/N's hand assuring that she's okay.

"Ms. Sana, Ms. Sana please, wait!" They suddenly heard the maid yelling and they all turned around to see the maid and Sana. Sana looks very angry.

"What's going on?" Y/N stood up and approached her, but the moment she did, she got slapped in the face by Sana which made everyone's eyes widen, including Nayeon's.

"You released those pictures, didn't you? I knew you were planning something but why did you have to bring my family into it huh?" She yelled angrily as she pushed Y/N.

"Sana, stop it!" Nayeon came in between the two.

"You stay out of it!"

"Come with me." Y/N held Sana's wrist and took her to another room.

"What is your problem?" Y/N asked.

"Why did you have to do it? My family is a mess because of you. Mom left, dad is not talking. They're probably going to get divorced because of you!" She started to cry and hit Y/N's chest.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry? Do you really think sorry is going to fix it?? I don't care what the fuck you want from the Im's, but why us, why?  What did we do to you? Please tell me." She kneeled down.

"Nothing, Sana. You didn't do anything nor your family." In fact they actually helped her out with the shares.

"We sold you our shares, yet you backstabbed us." She continued to cry and Y/N kneeled down as well.

"I'm so sorry." She does feel bad.

"Why didn't you at least tell me?"

"I wanted to."

"Then why didn't you?!" She yelled.

"She didn't release them, Sana. I did." Nayeon entered the room. She can't have Y/N take the blame even though Y/N was going to release them as well.

"W-what? Are you crazy? Why would you do that to your own family??"

"Because they're not my family! You know very well that they never treated me like family!" Nayeon's eyes got teary as well.

"You still didn't have the right to ruin my family!"

"I didn't ruin your family! Your mom did Sana! Not me, not Y/N, not you, not your dad, your mom did! She's the one that had an affair. Do you really think that your dad wouldn't have found out?!" Nayeon burst out and Sana kept silent as she just continued to cry on the floor. She knows Nayeon is right.

"Shht, it's okay." Y/N pulled Sana into a hug and gestured Nayeon to leave them alone. Both Sana and Nayeon are mad right now. It wouldn't be good for them to be in the same room.

"I hate her. Why did she have to fuck around with Nayeon's dad?" Sana said about her mother. Y/N has never seen Sana be this vulnerable. Usually Sana is just an annoying bitch, but right now Y/N is not seeing any of that.

"It'll be fine. Everything will be okay." Y/N tried to comfort her.

"It won't be. My dad didn't even yell or get angry, that's how disappointed he was." The Japanese pulled away from the hug and wiped her tears.

"It always looked like they were both very happy. My dad loves her to death, yet she cheated on him."

"Do you think your mom still loves him?"

"I have a feeling she does. But I should go now and this doesn't mean that I'm not mad at you. Don't think that we'll be okay from now on." Sana informed and left.

"Is she okay?" Nayeon asked and Y/N shook her head.

"I honestly didn't think she'd be this affected by this." Y/N admitted.

"Me neither. I shouldn't have done it so recklessly. I was so busy with trying to ruin my dad, that I ruined another family that didn't do anything wrong." Nayeon sighed in regret.

"Don't feel bad, Nayeon-ah." Y/N pulled her closer. "Along the way on achieving your goal, you're going to have to hurt people. Sometimes these will be guilty people and sometimes innocent people. You'll have to get used to it." Y/N kissed her forehead.

"I still feel very bad." Nayeon admitted. She has a soft heart and can't hurt people like that. While Y/N she's got hurt so much in the past that she doesn't mind hurting people to get what she wants.

"Everything will be okay." Y/N hugged her.

"Are you okay though? She slapped you hard." Nayeon caressed Y/N's red cheek.

"I'm fine. It hurts a bit though, maybe you can help?" Y/N smirked and Nayeon immediately understood what Y/N meant and kissed her cheek.

"Now it's better." Y/N smiled. "I got my apartment ready for us, if you want we can go and stay there from now on."

"I won't allow that." Tzuyu suddenly walked in, making Y/N and Nayeon distance themselves from each other.

"Me neither. You two are staying here until everything is settled. You're both in danger, so there's no way we're letting you go." Mrs. Chou smiled weakly.

"Yeah, me neither. I swear I'll run them over with my bike if they try to hurt you." Chaeyoung said in a serious tone. Cute.

"Thanks, guys. What would I do without you?" Y/N chuckled.

"Thank you, really." Nayeon bowed. She's starting to see Y/N's family as her own. Both Y/N's parents like her and Tzuyu and Chaeyoung are finally being nice to her as well. They're like the family that she never had.
