Chapter 37

Y/N and Nayeon are driving back home now. Nayeon is really angry so she's just keeping quiet. Y/N knows that she fucked up. She can see how hurt and mad Nayeon is and when Nayeon is like this, it's best to not push her because she'll freak out.

They arrived home and Y/N turned of the engine of her car. The moment she did, Nayeon left the car in a rush. Y/N also got out and followed her. When they got in the house, Nayeon was about to walk away but Y/N stopped her holding her arm.

"We need to talk." Y/N said.

"I have nothing to say to you."

"But I do."

"What are you going to say Y/N? It was all clear wasn't it?" Nayeon raised her voice.

"I don't want to lose you over this."

"Then what the fuck do you want Y/N?" Nayeon yelled. "You don't want to lose me, but you're giving me no freaking choice!"

"How am I not giving you a choice? We were doing fine until now. I don't get what the problem is!" Y/N started to yell as well.

"What's going on?" Chaeyoung asked Tzuyu. They're sitting in the kitchen and suddenly heard people yelling in the living room.

"I think I heard Y/N unnie's voice. Let's see what's happening." Tzuyu suggested and the two went to see what's going on.

"The problem is you, Y/N! It's you! You want us to do everything that couples do, you want me around you and you even want me to stay at your house, but you don't want us to date. Does that seem logical to you?? I want you Y/N. I want you to be mine. It's just a freaking label, why does it bother you that much?" Nayeon is trying very hard not to cry right now.

"I already told you why it's bothering me! Do you really want everything that we did to fail just because of a stupid label? Why do you even need me to call you mine, huh? What was wrong with what we were doing until now?"

"Nothing was wrong. I just thought that we were heading to somewhere serious with our relationship, but it seems like you're not serious with me at all!"

"What the hell, they were fine just a couple of hours ago. Should we stop them?" Chaeyoung asked Tzuyu.

"I don't think they'll listen to us." Tzuyu shook her head. The argument is pretty heated.

"I am serious with you. Do you really think I'm playing with you? I already said that I love you and I meant it a 100% but I just can't take the risk of being in a relationship right now. It'll harm the company." Y/N sighed.

"All you fucking care about is your company!"

"How can I not care about it, Nayeon-ah? Are you seriously trying to say that I shouldn't care about it??" Nayeon is really going to lose her mind right now, they never had an argument even once until now.

"I'm not saying that! Why are you bringing your company into this when we're talking about us?! Do you even know why I want us to have a relationship?" Nayeon started to cry and Y/N shook her head.

"I don't want you to just play around with me. I want to be sure that you're mine. I wouldn't be able to stand to see you with someone else, do you get that?"

"I get that but..."

"But what Y/N? But what? Did you really think that I would do all these things with you without thinking anything serious about it? Would you be okay to see me with someone else?"

"Yeah. I would be." Y/N answered and Nayeon was shocked.

"You really would be, huh? So I can go and fuck someone else right now and you'd be okay with that?" Nayeon raised her eyebrows. She can't believe Y/N is saying all of this right now.

"Yes, I would be okay with that because we're not dating. We're not in a relationship and we won't be anytime soon." Y/N said and Nayeon pushed her.

"I fucking hate you, Chou Y/N. I'll sleep in the guest room tonight and I'll leave tomorrow morning. Don't you even dare try to stop me." She warned.

"You're not going anywhere. I won't let you. You're staying here."

"See? Do you see this, Y/N?? You can't act like this if you're not my girlfriend. You can't tell me what to do and you don't have to freaking protect me!" Nayeon yelled and Y/N just kept quiet.

"You know, I don't think this is even about the company or your reputation, this is about you. You're not ready for a relationship and whatever comes with it so you're trying to find excuses using the company. You just could've said that you don't want it instead of making up excuses." Nayeon said weakly and went to her room as she cried.

"What did you do, Y/N? Why is she crying?" Mrs. Chou showed up right at the time when Nayeon was leaving.

"Nothing." Y/N just sighed.

"Why did you make her cry?" Mrs. Chou asked once again and Y/N just looked at her and left without answering her question.

"Girls, what happened?" Mrs. Chou asked Tzuyu and Chaeyoung and they told her what they heard.

"I knew this was going to happen. I mean they've been acting like a couple for a while now. They sleep together, they are clingy, they flirt all the time yet Y/N unnie doesn't want it to become something serious as in a relationship." Chaeyoung said.

"I feel bad for Nayeon. She's obviously head over heels for Y/N unnie. It sucks that unnie just doesn't want to let anyone in." Tzuyu sighed.

"I'm going to talk to Nayeon. That girl didn't look good to me. She might need someone to talk to." Y/N's mother said and went to the guest room. She knocked on the door a few times and finally Nayeon spoke up.

"Go away, I don't want to speak to you!" Nayeon yelled thinking that it was Y/N.

"It's me, Nayeon-ah. Can you open the door?" Nayeon suddenly felt bad for yelling at Mrs. Chou and she opened the door. Mrs. Chou entered the room and closed the door behind her. She looked at Nayeon and the girl was still crying.

"Are you okay?" She asked and Nayeon shook her head as she hugged Y/N's mom.

"Shht, it'll be okay. Everything will fall into it's place eventually." She hugged Nayeon tightly. The two grew close over the time that Nayeon has been staying at their house.

"Why? Why is she like this?" Nayeon cried.

"Let's sit down." Mrs. Chou suggested and Nayeon sat down.

"Remember how I told you that if Y/N messes up, to not leave her?" Nayeon just nodded.

"This is what I meant. Y/N has never had a relationship before and she always said that she doesn't want one because she never fell in love before. She didn't think that she would fall in love anytime soon, but she did. I wouldn't be telling you this if I didn't know that she's really in love with you Nayeon-ah. Please don't leave her. She's happy with you, I can see it. Everyone can see it." Mrs. Chou really cares about the happiness of her daughter and she knows that Nayeon is the one that makes Y/N happy.

"I can't be around her knowing that she's not mine, Mrs. Chou. I really love her but it just feels like she's playing with me right now."

"I know you do, I know. I can assure you that she's not trying to play with you. She's just someone that doesn't see why people would get into relationships. She finds it unnecessary." Y/N's mother informed.

"I just... I can't do this. I'll leave tomorrow. Thank you for letting me stay here." Nayeon wiped her tears.

"Nayeon-ah, please think this through. Y/N will change her mind eventually. She'll finally realize that she wants to be with you. You just need to show her that you really want her."

"I can't force her, Mrs. Chou. If she doesn't want me then I should just leave." Nayeon shook her head and Mrs. Chou sighed. Her daughter really fucked it up this time.

"Please just think about it and give her some time. I'm sure she'll change her mind. Do you know why I'm so sure?" The woman asked and Nayeon shook her head. "I can see that you're the perfect person for her. You make her happy, you bring out the good in her and you're also slowly changing her mind about love. I'm sure that eventually she'll realize that you're the one. I just hope it won't be too late."

"Thank you for comforting me. Y/N and Tzuyu are really lucky to have you as their mom." Nayeon smiled weakly.

"Where will you go to? You have nowhere to stay."

"I'll go to my assistant and then I'll see where I'll go from there." Nayeon answered and the woman nodded as she stood up. She can't force Nayeon to stay, so she'll respect her decision.

"I'll leave you alone now. If you need me, know that I'm always here even if my daughter doesn't want you here. Just think it through, okay? You don't have to leave. You can always stay here and come back anytime you want. You're always welcome, Nayeon-ah." The woman patted her shoulder and left the room. After she left, Nayeon continued to cry in her bed. It hurts her so much that Y/N thinks of it that way.

Meanwhile Y/N is in her room just walking back and forth, thinking about what happened.

"Aaah!" She yelled and held her head in frustration. Truth is she does want to be with Nayeon. She does want Nayeon to be her girlfriend, but she knows Nayeon will leave her once she finds out about Y/N's plans. That's why she can't risk to date her right now. They will both just end up hurt if they jump into something serious right now.

The next morning Nayeon woke up early and got her stuff ready. She went downstairs and was met with Chaeyoung.

"You're really leaving?" The younger girl asked and Nayeon nodded.

"I never thought I would say this but I'll miss you." Chaeyoung chuckled.

"Really?" Nayeon is surprised to hear that. She knows that Chaeyoung doesn't like her.

"Yes, Y/N unnie is stupid to let you go. I'm sure she'll get back to you soon." She patted Nayeon's arm.

"Nayeon?" Mrs. Chou joined them. "You're really going huh?" She was hoping that Nayeon would change her mind but she didn't.

"Yes, thank you for everything. I appreciate it a lot." Nayeon bowed.

"If you want to come back, just remember you can."

"Thank you. I should go now, my assistant is here." Nayeon said and was about to walk away but Y/N came right on time to stop her.

"Can we talk? Please?"

"Y/N, I have..."

"I won't try to stop you. You can go if you want. I just want to talk before you leave. Just 5 minutes please?" Y/N pleaded.

"Okay." Nayeon answered and the two of them went to the kitchen to talk.

"Where are you even going to stay?" The CEO wondered.

"With Momo for now. I'll figure something out later on."

"You don't have to leave. You can just stay in the guest room. I won't bother you." Even if Nayeon won't talk to her, Y/N would rather have Nayeon be safe at her house than somewhere else.

"No, thanks."

"What about our plan? I mean the meeting is only a few days away." The CEO reminded her.

"We're still doing it. That's all you care about anyways, right? Bringing Jin down seems like the most important thing for you right now so I'm sure you want to go ahead with the plan. Don't worry, me too. I'll follow your plan. After all it's the reason why we became partners in the first place." Y/N sighed in relief upon hearing that. She was scared that Nayeon was going to pull away. The moment Nayeon pulls away, the plan won't go through and that will be a huge problem.

"Just don't try to pull something else. You'll regret if you do so." Nayeon warned and left.

"You really let her leave?" Chaeyoung asked when Y/N went back to the living room.

"What else was I supposed to do?"

"Euhm, I don't know, maybe stop her?" Chaeyoung said sarcastically.

"I'm not in the mood, Chaeyoung-ah." Y/N sighed and left the house to go to the company.

"Y/N!" Jihyo yelled while they were talking in Y/N's office but it seems like Y/N's mind is somewhere else.

"Chou Y/N!"

"Oh, I'm sorry, what?" Y/N finally came back to earth.

"What the hell are you thinking about? You seem off."

"Nothing. Just thinking about what to do with the Im's." Y/N tried to shrug it off.

"I may have just found out that you're my sister, but you've been my best friend for 15 years. You know that I can tell when something's wrong, don't you?"

"Fine, I had a fight with Nayeon and she left."

"Wait, what?? What do you mean she left?" Jihyo furrowed her eyebrows.

"We had a fight last night. She assumed that we were dating and I told her it's not the case, then she got mad and packed her stuff and left." Y/N explained and Jihyo suddenly hit her head.

"Ah, what was that for?" Y/N held her head.

"Pabo, this isn't the right time to fight with her! The meeting is in a couple of days and we need her."

"I know but don't worry, she'll still go through with the plan."

"How do you know that? She might pull away last minute just to make you angry."

"She won't do that. She wants to become the CEO so bad that she'll do as I say." Y/N assured.

"This is affecting you a lot isn't it?" Jihyo can tell that Y/N doesn't feel good about this.

"No, I don't care."

"Yes, you do. If you didn't have feelings for Nayeon, you would have just went along with the dating thing just for the sake of revenge, but you didn't. Care to tell me why? I mean wasn't it your plan to make her fall for you? Why didn't you just go along with it now?" Jihyo knows the answer but she's just testing Y/N. It's true that if Y/N didn't have feelings for Nayeon she just would have dated her until her plan succeeded.

"You said it yourself, Jihyo-yah. I have feelings for her and that's stopping me from getting her involved any further in this matter."

"The Y/N I know would have ignored those feelings. It looks like you can't." Jihyo noticed and Y/N slowly nodded.

"You're right, I can't and it's making me mad." Y/N sighed. "Anyways, I looked through my old stuff yesterday and I found my old phone. The phone that I had when the incident happened. The message to meet them there was sent to that phone. However the phone is broken, so I asked Dahyun to fix it since she's good at that stuff. Once the phone is fixed we can go through the old messages and identify the sender. If the sender is Jin or Mr. Im, then we can use that as evidence."

"We'll have to prove that my parents really went there though." Jihyo informed.

"There are witnesses but we'll also have to convince the guy in prison to tell the truth."

"How though? I'm sure Mr. Im paid him a lot to plead guilty. Why would he suddenly tell the truth after 8 years?"

"I'll pay him more. Just think about it Jihyo. If that guy tells the truth, if we get Mr. Im or Jin to say that they did it and if we get the evidence of the text message, then it's all over for them." Y/N nodded to herself.

"You didn't want to put them in prison before. I mean you only wanted to destroy ImTech, what changed your mind?"

"Finding out that the woman that died is my real mother changed my mind. I want them to rot in prison and I also want them to live with regret for the rest of their lives." Y/N said in a serious tone.

"If we succeed, do you still want ImTech to be gone? I mean Nayeon is going to be the CEO anyways. Why destroy the company?"

"Jihyo-yah, just think about it. They still have shares in the company. They'll get out of prison eventually and when they do, they'll still have ImTech. I want them to leave prison and continue to hurt outside of it as well. Nothing will hurt them more than losing ImTech trust me."

"So you're really giving up Nayeon for that, huh?" Jihyo questioned.

"Nayeon might not realize this now but this will be better for her as well." Jihyo didn't quite get what Y/N meant by that but she just decided not to question Y/N any further.

"Make up with her, Y/N. Go and apologize. I'm not saying this for the sake or our revenge, but I'm saying this for you. She makes you happy, don't let her go like that. Fight for her, unnie... I want you to be happy." Jihyo said weakly and Y/N looked at her half-sister with sad eyes.

"I can be happy without her." Y/N said but she knew as well that the happiness that she feels when she's with Nayeon is nothing compared to what she feels when she's alone.

"I just don't want you to regret things later on, but still it's your choice." Jihyo patted Y/N's arm.
