Chapter 40

It's night time and Nayeon is trying to sleep, but she can't. The meeting is tomorrow and she's so nervous that she can't sleep. She's sleeping in the guest room and she really wishes that she was next to Y/N right now because when she's with her, she can sleep way better than when she sleeps alone.

Nayeon was debating with herself wether or not to go to Y/N. She doesn't want to forgive Y/N easily and she wants to play a bit hard to get but then again she wants to be next to Y/N right now.

"She might be awake." Nayeon said to herself and got out of bed. She went to Y/N's room slowly and opened the door. She entered and saw Y/N sleeping peacefully. She sat on her bed and caressed Y/N's hair.

"How the fuck are you so beautiful?" Nayeon whispered to herself. She stared at Y/N for like a minute until Y/N noticed a presence next to her.

"Nayeon?" Y/N rubbed her eyes. Shit she woke up. "Is something wrong?"

"No, no, don't mind me, just sleep."

"You can't sleep, can you?" The CEO asked and Nayeon shook her head.

"Because you're nervous?" Nayeon nodded.

"Instead of watching me sleep, how about you sleep with me?" Y/N smirked a bit but Nayeon couldn't see since it's dark.

"C'mon, we both sleep better next to each other." Y/N lifted the blanket and gestured for Nayeon to join her. Nayeon hesitated a bit but decided to join her anyways. There it goes her "I'm going to play hard to get"

"Y/N?"

"Hmm?" Y/N hummed. She's actually very tired right now and she's struggling to keep her eyes open.

"I have a bad feeling." Nayeon confessed which made Y/N look at her.

"Everything will be fine. Just try to sleep right now and whatever happens tomorrow just know that I will always be by your side." Y/N kissed her forehead and Nayeon buried her face into Y/N's neck afterwards.

"Just trust me, Nayeon-ah. I'll make you the CEO no matter what."

The next morning Nayeon woke up very early. She slept for like maybe 3 hours? She looked at Y/N and can see that the CEO is very tired so she left her room without waking her up. She got ready in all nervousness and got hungry so she went to the kitchen.

"You're awake early." Mrs. Chou saw her. Mrs. Chou always wakes up early.

"Yeah, couldn't sleep."

"I can see you're very nervous. It'll be okay, Nayeon-ah. C'mon let's have breakfast together." The woman patted Nayeon's arm and the two sat down to eat.

After about half an hour Y/N woke up as well and saw that Nayeon was not beside her anymore. She guesses that the girl already woke up. She got out of bed and got herself ready before going downstairs.

"Having breakfast without me?" Y/N questioned when she saw her mother, Nayeon and Tzuyu having breakfast.

"You should've woken up earlier if you wanted some." Tzuyu teased.

"Good morning, mom." Y/N kissed her mother's cheek ignoring Tzuyu's statement.

"Good morning to you too, Nayeon-ah." She kissed her cheek as well which startled Nayeon. Y/N isn't the type to show affection when there are other people around.

"Please, don't do that to me as well." Tzuyu pleaded.

"Don't worry, I don't want to." Y/N teased and sat down next to Nayeon.

"You seem to be in a good mood." Mrs. Chou noticed. How can she be so calm when the meeting is literally in a few hours?

"I'm actually quite nervous too. But I'm confident that today's result will turn out to be beneficial for us." Y/N admitted.

"How are you so sure about that?" Nayeon asked.

"Because I always win." Nayeon was a bit taken aback by Y/N's answer. Y/N can be a scary person. She definitely wouldn't want to be Y/N's rival. Y/N gets everything that she wants even if it means that she needs to hurt people in the process.

"Apparently ImTech is surrounded by a hundred of reporters right now. They're waiting for everyone to arrive." Tzuyu informed.

"That means we need to be careful while going there. We can't go in together so call Momo and ask her to join you, I'll also send one of my bodyguards with you. Tzuyu, you and Dahyun will be entering with me." Y/N explained and everyone nodded. They waited for the time to finally come so that they can leave.

"Momo is here." Nayeon's heart is beating really fast right now.

"Okay, then you go first. We'll depart shortly after you." Y/N said as she walked with Nayeon towards the front door.

"It'll be okay. Please don't be so nervous and most importantly don't let them get to you, okay?" Y/N cupped Nayeon's face and kissed her forehead before Nayeon left. After like 10 minutes Y/N also departed.

The moment they arrived at ImTech there were a lot of reporters trying to get some answers out of them. Since there were so many of them, it was quite hard to get inside but luckily the security helped them in.

The moment Y/N got in she went to the meeting room and saw that most of the shareholders, directors and other important people already had arrived.

"Hello, Mr. Im, Jin-ssi." Y/N bowed to them but the two men didn't even glance at her. They already know the outcome of this meeting, that's why instead of trying to change the outcome they're coming up with a plan on what to do afterwards.

"You can sit here, Ms. Chou." The director gestured for Y/N and Tzuyu to sit. Nayeon was sitting at the other side of the table. She can really see that Nayeon might die out of nervousness.

"Since everyone is here, we can start the meeting. First we'll vote wether or not Mr. Im should leave his position as the CEO. If the majority votes yes, then we'll have a second vote on who'll become the next CEO." The director explained. "Any questions?" He asked and everyone shook their heads.

"Then I'm starting the vote right now." Of course Y/N voted for Mr. Im to leave his position and she knows most shareholders will vote the same as her. Tzuyu cannot vote since she's not a shareholder, but she's here as a representative of Chou Holdings.

"I'll reveal the result." The man said after everyone voted and Nayeon took a deep breath waiting for the man to reveal the result.

"With the majority of the votes, I announce that Mr. Im is no longer the CEO of ImTech." The room became silent after the revelation and Y/N looked at Mr. Im. The man doesn't look surprised. He saw this coming. After the news of his affair, his reputation went downhill and no one trusts him anymore. He knows he can't save himself from this situation, that's why he's focusing on Jin.

"This means we'll have a second vote to determine the next CEO. You can vote for Im Nayeon or for Im Seokjin." The director said and the second round of voting started. Y/N is a major shareholder, but so is Mr. Im meaning that their votes are the most important ones. Since Y/N will be voting for Nayeon and Mr. Im for Jin, the result will depend on the other shareholders.

"Please think carefully before voting." Jin pleaded and everyone took their vote.

"I will now reveal the new CEO of ImTech." The director said. "It was a close one but with the majority of the votes, the new CEO of ImTech is..." Nayeon doesn't want to hear it. She has a feeling that she won't hear her name. Never in her life has she beat Jin in something, why would she now?

"Im Nayeon." Y/N and Tzuyu smiled weakly upon hearing that. She looked at Nayeon and saw her with her eyes wide open. Did she just hear her name or is she hallucinating?

"Congratulations, Im Nayeon. You're the new CEO of ImTech." The director clapped and everyone followed along.

"Thank you so much. I won't disappoint you, I promise." Nayeon stood up and bowed non stop. This was everything that she ever wanted. Beating Jin and becoming the CEO.

"If no one has something to say, I will end the meeting here." The director said looking around. No one has anything to say about this matter. Y/N looked at Jin and Mr. Im and they look calm? This was not what Y/N was hoping for. The two are supposed to be mad right now. They just lost, but they don't look like they lost at all.

Tzuyu noticed Y/N looking at them with furrowed eyebrows and can already guess what Y/N is thinking. She finds it weird as well, that the two aren't causing a scene right now.

"Then I'm ending the meeting here. You can all leave." The director said when no one said anything. The shareholders all congratulated Nayeon while Mr. Im and Jin immediately left the room. Y/N smells something fishy.

"Tzuyu, wait for me here and stay beside Nayeon." Y/N said as she went after Mr. Im and Jin.

"Mr. Im!" Y/N yelled and the two turned around.

"I guess you're finally accepting that you can't win against me, huh?" Y/N smirked.

"Congratulations, Y/N-ssi. You got what you wanted but don't forget that Nayeon isn't as capable as you. She might lose that position sooner than you think." The man informed.

"We won't give up, you know that right? This is just the beginning, Y/N-ah." Jin smiled and the two left. Y/N is 100% sure that they're planning something, but she doesn't know what. However there's one thing that she knows and that's that they will definitely use the pictures of her and Nayeon to their advantage.

Y/N walked back to the meeting room and saw Nayeon, Tzuyu, Momo and Dahyun talking. Nayeon has the widest smile on her face, which makes Y/N happy to see.

"Congratulations, Ms. CEO." Y/N approached her and bowed.

"Thank you, Ms. Chou." Nayeon bowed as well. She really wants to pull Y/N in a big tight hug, but she can't. Even though there are only people that they trust in the room right now, you never know who might be watching.

"Now that you're the CEO, it means I'm going to have to see you a lot as a major shareholder of this company. That's a good thing because I don't think I would like seeing Jin that much." Y/N joked and everyone laughed.

"We should go now, unnie. Nayeon-ssi, has probably a lot of work to do as the CEO." Tzuyu smiled.

"Yes, we should. Congratulations again and see you later." Y/N smiled and Nayeon thanked her. She's really holding herself back from not kissing Y/N right now. After all without Y/N this never would have happened.

"Congratulations, Nayeon-ssi." Tzuyu and Dahyun also congratulated her before leaving the room.

"Aaaah." Nayeon squealed in happiness and hugged Momo." Is this true Momo? I'm not dreaming, right?"

"You're not Ms. Im. It really happened." Momo is really happy for her. It's what Nayeon deserves.

"I think it's already announced to everyone. Let's turn on the tv." Momo suggested and turned on the tv.

Breaking news: After today's shareholders' meeting at ImTech it is revealed that the daughter of Mr. Im, Im Nayeon is the new CEO of the company.

Hearing it on tv made Nayeon realize that it really happened. She's really the CEO now...

"Did you see my dad and brother?" Nayeon noticed that the two were immediately out of sight after the meeting.

"I think they went to your dad's office." Momo answered and Nayeon decided to go there. She knows they're going to be very angry right now, but she can't miss the chance of rubbing this in their faces, can she?

"Is my dad inside?" Nayeon asked her father's secretary and the man nodded. Nayeon knocked on the door and entered to see her dad and older brother.

"Oh, it's our new CEO." Jin said in a mocking voice.

"Hello, father." Nayeon bowed and the man stood up going closer to her. Nayeon is a bit scared to be honest.

"Congratulations, daughter." The man said and Nayeon raised her eyebrows. He has never congratulated her before.

"Thank you."

"The company is in your hands right now. I hope you won't disappoint me, but you're an Im after all. I know you have it in you to lead this company the right way. Just don't mess it up. I spend my entire life building this company."

"I won't father." Nayeon smiled. Is he finally seeing Nayeon's potential? Nayeon really hopes so.

"I never thought you would succeed, but I guess we underestimated you. I'm proud of you." He said and Nayeon feels weird hearing these words from her. It's a good kind of weird though. Who wouldn't be happy to hear those words from their father? Especially if it's the first time hearing them.

"Thank you dad. I promise I'll lead this company well. You can trust me." She said and Mr. Im just nodded.

"If you need any help, you can always ask us. After all I have a lot of experience as the CEO of this company." He smiled and patted Nayeon's arm.

"You should go to work now, though. Being a CEO means that you'll have to work a lot in order to do a good job." He suggested and Nayeon nodded as she left his office.

"I just heard the news. Congratulations unnie." Jihyo called Y/N.

"Thank you, Jihyo-yah. What are you doing right now?"

"I'm at work but I couldn't wait with congratulating you. I mean we're one step further now aren't we?"

"Yes, we are. By the way we're going to celebrate at my house today. I'm assuming you're coming right?"

"Of course. I wouldn't want to miss that." Jihyo smiled. Y/N actually mentioned it before, so Jihyo was already informed.

"Alright, Jihyo-yah. See you tonight then! Also Nayeon doesn't know about this, so it'll be kind of a surprise."

"Oh I see, your spoiling your girlfriend huh?" Jihyo chuckled.

"Yah, she's not my girlfriend! I just want to make her happy and show her that she has people that she can rely on."

"Of course, of course. Anyways I need to go now, unnie. I have a patient." Jihyo said and bid her goodbyes.

Y/N went home and started to prepare for the dinner tonight. There won't be a lot of people present. Just her family, Jihyo, Dahyun, Momo and Mina. Y/N knew Nayeon was going to win, so she actually planned everything beforehand.

"When is Nayeon unnie even coming?" Chaeyoung asked as she helped Y/N.

"I asked Momo to keep her busy until dinner. She just became the CEO, so I'm sure there are a lot of things that she needs to take care of." Y/N was right about that. It's only Nayeon's first day as the CEO but she can already feel all the responsibility that comes with it.

"What comes after this, unnie?" Y/N's cousin asked and Y/N thought for a bit before answering.

"Only good things, Chaeyoung-ah. Only good things."

Everyone already came home except for Nayeon. They're waiting for her to arrive so that they can surprise her. Momo just messaged Y/N saying that they're on their way.

"They're coming guys. Is everything ready?"

"Yes, Y/N-ie. Everything is ready, stop worrying so much." Her mother patted her back.

"I just want her to be happy."

"I know. She'll definitely be happy to see this." The woman said and right at that moment the doorbell rang.

"She's here. Mrs. Hwang can you open the door please?" Y/N asked and the maid did as she was told. The moment Nayeon and Momo entered they all yelled surprise and Nayeon got scared because she didn't expect it.

"You guys scared me!" She held her chest but then started to tear up seeing everyone in front of her.

"Congratulations, Nayeon-ah." Y/N approached her.

"You did this?" She asked and Y/N nodded. She hugged Y/N tightly and kept thanking her. Everyone smiled seeing the two interact like this.

"Congratulations, Nayeon-ah." Mr. Chou approached her as well and everyone started to congratulate her.

"How about we all sit down at the table and have dinner already? I'm starving." Chaeyoung held her stomach.

"Wait. There's one more guest." Y/N said and Nayeon got confused. Who can it be? Y/N's entire family is here. Mina is here and even Momo and Dahyun are here. There's no one else that's close to either Y/N or Nayeon.

"Come out, Mrs.Im." Y/N said and suddenly Nayeon's mother came out of the kitchen making Nayeon's heart drop.

"M-mom?" She teared up.

"Congratulations, Nayeon-ah." The woman started to cry and Nayeon hugged her tightly. The last time they saw each other, it didn't end very well.

"How? I mean how did you come here?" Mr. Im doesn't even let her go to the convenience store alone, so how did she manage to come here?

"Y/N helped me. And surprisingly your dad was okay with it."

"Now that everyone's here, we can eat right?" Jihyo asked and everyone nodded as they went towards the table. Nayeon can't be happier right now.

"I fucking love you, do you know that?" Nayeon stated when everyone already went to the table except for Nayeon and Y/N.

"I love you. You deserve the world. I wanted to organise a whole party for you, but due to the lack of time, I only managed to do this."

"This is more than enough, love. You even managed to bring my mom here. You don't know how much that means to me." Nayeon caressed Y/N's face.

"This is a new beginning for you. We need to celebrate it right?" Y/N smiled and pecked Nayeon's lips.

"Hey, lovebirds! We're waiting for you!" Tzuyu yelled and the two finally went to the table with their hands intertwined. The dinner went quite well and everyone was having a good time. Y/N and Nayeon are being clingy and cute towards each other which makes everyone happy to see. Mrs. Im didn't know that Nayeon and Y/N were this close, but seeing har daughter happy makes her happy as well. She just hopes that Y/N won't hurt her and will treat her well. Luckily the woman doesn't know anything about Y/N. Besides Y/N has a very good reputation so no one would think badly about her.

"I should go now. It's been a fun evening. Congratulations again, Nayeon-ssi." Jihyo stood up and hugged Nayeon.

"Thank you so much for coming."

"Of course. I'm happy for you." Jihyo said and Y/N walked with her half-sister to the front door while Nayeon stayed with the other guests.

"My driver will bring you home." Y/N informed.

"Alright, thanks."

"Can we meet up tomorrow? There's something important."

"Yeah, how about you come to my place after work?" Jihyo questioned and Y/N nodded. After Jihyo left, Dahyun, Momo and Mina left as well. Mrs. Im is the only one that's left right now.

"I should go now too, Nayeon-ah."

"Thank you so much for coming. I know it was hard for you." Nayeon hugged her mother.

"It's all thanks to Y/N that I'm here right now." She glanced at Y/N and Y/N just smiled.

"Is someone picking you up?" Nayeon asked.

"I'm bringing her home. I promised that to your dad." Nayeon still doesn't understand how Y/N managed to convince her dad on letting her mother come, but she'll question Y/N on that matter later on.

"Okay, bring her home safe Y/N-ah."

"Of course. Should we go Ms. Im?" Y/N asked and the two left. While Y/N was driving, Mrs. Im was just keeping quiet. The mood is kind of awkward.

"Thank you for making my daughter happy." She suddenly spoke up.

"It's my pleasure."

"Please don't hurt her. I'm sure that you know what kind of life she lived. She's been hurt a lot, please don't add on to that. Please keep making her happy as you do now and please keep protecting her from her father and brother." The woman pleaded. There's no one else that would protect Nayeon like this, so Y/N is her only hope.

"They won't stop going after her. You're the only one that can stop them." She added and Y/N nodded.

"I promise that they can't hurt her. I'll protect her till the very end."

"Do you love her?" Y/N was a bit taken aback by the question but answered anyways.

"Yes, I do. A lot." The CEO answered and Mrs. Im nodded.

"We're here. You know you can leave this place as well right? Nayeon keeps worrying about you. She regrets leaving you behind like this so please know that when you want to leave this place you can. I'll help you with that."

"Thank you, Y/N-ssi but I'm good. This is my destiny, I can't change it." The woman said and left the car.
