Chapter 44

"Oh love, you're late today." Nayeon said when Y/N finally came home. Normally Y/N comes home a bit earlier but since she's going to the police station tomorrow, she needed to make sure that everything is ready.

"Yeah, I was caught up in work. Didn't see that it got pretty late." Y/N smiled and kissed Nayeon's cheek.

"Aren't you tired? You work a lot and you never seem to take a break." Nayeon worried.

"I'm fine, babe. I get bored when I don't work."

"Ugh, such a workaholic." Nayeon joked which made Y/N smile. She's quite worried about what's going to happen tomorrow. She really hopes that Nayeon won't be mad at her but she surely will be.

"You have to be a workaholic if you want to be successful." Y/N stated.

"So you're saying I need to be like you?" Nayeon approached her girlfriend and stood in front of her very closely.

"Exactly, Ms. Im." Y/N said in a deep voice, which Nayeon finds very sexy.

"You look absolutely beautiful." Y/N looked into Nayeon's eyes and leaned in for a kiss. She kissed Nayeon with full passion which made Nayeon feel a bit taken aback. Y/N kisses her a lot, but this time it was a different kind of kiss. Probably because Y/N thinks that it might be the last one.

"I love you a lot, Nayeon-ah. Please remember that. Whatever people say or whatever I might do, just know that my love for you is sincere." Y/N said when she pulled away and put her forehead onto Nayeon's.

"Why are you suddenly saying all of this?"

"I just want you to know." Y/N pulled away. "I'm going to take a shower."

"Okay." Nayeon said and with that Y/N left. Nayeon has a bad feeling. She feels like something is going to happen but she has no idea what.

"What are you going to do Chou Y/N?" She knows Y/N is planning something and she has a feeling that it's related to her family. Hopefully her feeling is wrong.

The next morning Y/N woke up early and got ready. Nayeon also woke up and both of them are getting ready to go to work. At least that's what Nayeon thinks.

"Why are you so early today?" Nayeon asked.

"I have to drop off Chaeyoung at school remember?"

"Are you really giving her house arrest? She's 22, Y/N. She's not a teenager."

"But she acts like one, so I have no choice but to treat her as one. Anyways I'll see you later." She kissed her girlfriend's cheek and went downstairs.

"Chaeyoung-ah, are you ready?"

"Yes, unnie. I'm coming." The younger girl informed and walked towards Y/N.

"Let's go." And with that the two girls got into the car and left.

"Don't you mind that I'm basically giving you house arrest?" Y/N asked her cousin.

"No. I deserve it." The younger girl looked down.

"I don't like doing this either, Chaeyoung-ah."

"Unnie, can I ask something?"

"Go ahead." Y/N nodded.

"Can I at least see Mina? I know you told me to not see anyone but she helps me a lot, unnie. Just like how you help me to get away from bad stuff."

"I actually noticed that. You've been different ever since Mina entered your life. You can see her if she comes to our place." Y/N agreed.

"Really? Thank you." Chaeyoung smiled and they finally arrived at her school.

"Thanks for the ride."

"I'll send my driver if I can't make it after school. Do not go anywhere else, understand?"

"Yes unnie. I understand." Chaeyoung said and got out of the car.

"Jihyo, I'm on my way to the police station." She called her half-sister.

"Alright, I'm also on my way. Let's meet there." Jihyo suggested and hung up. Y/N drove to the police station and Jihyo was already there so she approached her.

"Are we really doing this?" Jihyo asked when she saw Y/N.

"Yes. We're finally doing it, Jihyo-yah." Y/N sighed and the two walked in.

"Ms. Im! Ms. Im!" Momo ran in hurry to Nayeon's office.

"What's going on Momo?"

"T-the police a-are here." Momo said out of breath.

"The police?" Nayeon furrowed her eyebrows.

"They're taking your father and brother with them."

"What why?" Nayeon stood up.

"I have no idea, you should come and see." The assistant suggested and Nayeon walked as fast as she could to her father's office. The moment she went there she saw her brother and father in handcuffs.

"Dad? Oppa? What's happening? Why are they taking you?" Nayeon worried but none of them answered.

"Let me go! We didn't do anything!" Jin yelled and tried to escape from the police men.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you." One of the police men said to Mr. Im.

"Why are you arresting them?" The CEO asked the police men but just ignored her.

"Mr. Lee?" She asked her dad's secretary but he shook his head indicating that he doesn't know what's happening either.

"Dad, please say something!" Why is he keeping quiet?

"Ms. Please get out of the way. We're going to the station."

"Let's go Mr. Lee, we're going as well." Nayeon said to the man and he nodded. Jin and Mr. Im were brought to the police station in a police car and Nayeon and the secretary went there afterwards as well.

"I'll find out what's happening. You wait here." The man said and Nayeon nodded. She knows that her brother and father have done bad stuff but what did they do to end up here?

"Ms. Im?" Her father's lawyer also showed up.

"Mr. Sook please find out what's happening." She pleaded and the man nodded as he went to talk to the police. After about 20 minutes he came back with the secretary.

"And??"

"Someone sued your brother and father. According to the person, they killed a married couple eight years ago and made someone else plead guilty. The case was closed back then but now with the allegations of this person the case is reopened."

"Does that person even have any evidence?" This can't be true right? Her brother and father can't be murderers...

"Yes, they do. It seems like they've been gathering some evidence for a while. They even have your dad admitting to it on record. It doesn't look very good Nayeon-ssi."

"Who even is this person?" Nayeon has a feeling that it's someone close to them. Who else would be able to record it?

"We're not entirely sure about that but..."

"But what?"

"Apparently Chou Y/N is involved. She came here with a woman called Park Jihyo." The moment Nayeon heard that, her heart stopped.

"Y-Y/N? But that's not possible..." Right at that moment her brother and father came out of a room and Nayeon immediately approached them.

"Please tell me what's happening oppa." Nayeon pleaded.

"You fucking bitch!" Jin yelled to someone that was behind Nayeon. Nayeon turned around to see Y/N. Y/N just smirked and walked towards Jin and Mr. Im. Y/N gestured the police men to let her talk to them and they did since Y/N has a lot of power.

"You know I've been waiting 8 years to see this scene in front of me. It's quite relieving, you know." She laughed and Nayeon just watched her with her mouth open. Is this the same Y/N that she loves?

"Don't be too happy, Chou Y/N. We'll get out of here." Mr. Im stated.

"That's not possible, Mr. Im. There's no way you can run away from this. There's too much evidence against you." She said and Jin tried to escape from the police men due to anger towards Y/N but he couldn't.

"Do you remember what you said yesterday Jin? You said that I have no chance to win against you. But look at who's winning now. You both look so freaking pathetic. You can take them now." She said to the police men and they started to walk them to the interrogation room.

"You'll regret this Chou Y/N!" Jin yelled.

The moment Y/N turned around she got slapped in the face by Nayeon. She knew this was going to happen.

"Was this what you were planning behind my back?" Nayeon should've known that she wanted more than just to bring Jin down. Seeing those articles in her room were a great sign. The way Y/N acted so secretive was a great sign.

"Let's go home and talk about it." Nayeon doesn't really know what's happening at this point. "I'll explain it to you."

"What is there to explain, Y/N?" Nayeon asked weakly.

"A lot. Please just listen to me for a few minutes." Y/N pleaded and Nayeon nodded. She doesn't even know why they got arrested or why Y/N sued them.

"Let's go somewhere private." Y/N suggested and Nayeon followed.

"I'm listening. Why did you sue my family?"

"They killed Jihyo's parents, Nayeon-ah. Meaning that they killed my birth mother."

"W-what?" Nayeon is in shock. "How couldn't you tell me?" She's on the verge of tears right now. Her brother and father are the murderers of her girlfriend's birth mother?

"Because this is not your business."

"Not my business?! Not my business you say?? You're my girlfriend, Y/N. How can you keep something like this from me?" She started to cry and Y/N couldn't give her an answer. Y/N was expecting all of this.

"How long have you known? How long have you known that they're the killers?"

"Ever since they got killed."

"So you've been planning this all along, huh? It all makes sense now. The reason why you wanted to invest in my project was so that you could get closer to them, wasn't it?" She asked and Y/N just nodded.

"I can't believe you Y/N!" She hit her girlfriend's chest lightly. Y/N feels very bad but she had to do it. The two men who killed a family deserve to go to jail even if they're her girlfriend's family.

"Ms. Im? Your mother just came." Mr. Lee approached them.

"I'm coming." Nayeon wiped her tears.

"Please wait." Y/N held her wrist. "Let me explain everything to you from the beginning. Don't leave like this."

"I need to go to my mom, she's probably panicking right now. We'll talk later Y/N." Nayeon said and pulled her arm away from her.

"Mom?"

"Nayeon-ah? What's happening? Why did they arrest Jin and your father?" The woman worried.

"Mr. Sook? Please tell me that it's a misunderstanding." The woman pleaded.

"I can't really say anything. I'll do my best to get them out of here but it won't be easy. This is all the information I got." The man handed them a file. Nayeon and her mother opened it and saw the description of the case and the complaint. Nayeon didn't want to believe this but there's enough evidence for her to believe it. She's not surprised that they killed someone but what's even worse is that there's an innocent guy in jail because of them.

"What's going to happen now?" Nayeon asked.

"They're being interrogated right now. I'm guessing that they won't say anything but if the guy in prison tells them that they're the actual killers then I'm afraid that we won't be able to do much to save them."

"You need to save them, do you hear me? You need to get them out of here no matter what." Nayeon's mother said in a serious tone.

"I will Mrs. Im. I'll try my best. You two should go, they're probably going to get interrogated for a long time. It's best for you to leave. I'll call you if something happens."

"No, we're not going anywhere. We're staying here." The woman protested and the lawyer just nodded as he walked away.

"Why would they come out after 8 years, Nayeon-ah? Why now?" The woman cried.

"I don't know." Nayeon sighed. Y/N has all the answers which Nayeon is dying to know.

Hours have passed and Nayeon and her mother are still at the police station.

"Ms. Im, they're going to stay here for the night. You two should really go home now." Mr.Im's secretary let them know.

"He's right mom, we need to go. Mr. Lee can you take her home? I need to go somewhere quick."

"Where are you going, Nayeon-ah?" Her mother asked.

"I'm going to get my stuff from Y/N. I'll come home afterwards. I'll stay with you until they're released." That's if they ever get released.

Nayeon hugged her mom and went to Y/N's house. She has a feeling that their conversation won't go well.

"Oh you're here." Y/N said when she saw Nayeon in her house.

"I'm giving you the chance to explain everything." Nayeon crossed her arms. With that Y/N told her how they first put Y/N's dad in jail when he didn't even do anything, then she told them about how they killed Jihyo's parents.

"Why now Y/N? Why didn't you expose them back then? Why now? Is it because you didn't know that she was your mother back then?"

"No. I was just waiting for the right moment to bring them down."

"And that right moment came with me right?" Nayeon raised her eyebrows and Y/N nodded weakly.

"Why are you blaming me? You should blame them, Nayeon-ah. Are you seriously mad at me for doing this? Didn't you hear what I said? They KILLED my birth mother and her husband. They made a 15 year old girl an orphan. Do you really think that I would be able to sleep knowing that their killers are out there?" Y/N raised her voice.

"I fucking heard what you said Y/N. The problem isn't that you sued them, the problem is that you hid this from me! You've been planning this all behind my back and you're expecting me to trust you right now?" Nayeon raised her voice as well.

"I couldn't tell you Nayeon, I just couldn't."

"Why?" Nayeon yelled. At this point Y/N's entire family is listening to their conversation. The conversation is pretty heated and since they keep yelling anyone can follow along.

"Because you would have tried to stop me!"

"I wouldn't have Y/N! I fucking wouldn't have! They deserve to go to jail if they did all of this, it doesn't matter if they're my family."

"That's what you say right now but believe me you would have tried to stop me. Do you know why? Because you're a good person Nayeon-ah. No matter how much the two of them hurt you, you still care about them and you still would try to save them so yes you would have tried to stop me."

"Was all of this even real, Y/N? You've been planning this for 8 years. Be honest with me the reason why you got close to me was because of this and not because you liked me was it?"

"My feelings for you are real, Nayeon-ah. I never lied when I said that I love you."

"Then why do I feel like you're lying?" Nayeon shed a tear. "It seems like this revenge is more important to you than I am."

"I-it's not, Nayeon-ah. I really do love you."

"Stop it, Y/N, stop it!" She started to cry harder, Y/N is also on the verge of tears but she's keeping it all in. "You just used me. You used me for revenge and I was stupid enough to believe you."

"I did not use you, stop saying that! Yes it was my plan at first. I used you to get to them but you also used me for your project. We both used each other, Nayeon-ah."

"I stopped using you the moment I fell for you but you till this day still kept using me." Nayeon said in a sad voice.

"I didn't have a choice. It was the only way to bring them down." Y/N admitted. Without Nayeon she wouldn't have been able to do all of this.

"I fucking hate you, Chou Y/N." Nayeon said in disgust. She can't believe that Y/N has been deceiving her for all this time.

"Look, Nayeon-ah." Y/N approached her and held the woman's cheek. "I admit it wasn't my plan to fall for you, but I did. I really did fall for you. My love for you isn't an act."

"How am I supposed to trust you after this? This isn't just a small lie Y/N. You kept something huge from me." Nayeon pulled away from Y/N's touch.

"Yes, I did but..."

"But what Y/N? What if you hadn't fallen for me? Would you have played with my feelings until you finally got your revenge?" Nayeon asked and Y/N kept quiet. That was the original plan.

"You're a fucking asshole, do you know that?" Yes Y/N knows.

"I'm sorry." Y/N doesn't know what to say anymore. She's out of words.

"I'm going now, please leave me alone from now on." Nayeon demanded. There's probably much more that Nayeon doesn't know about but she doesn't have the energy to question Y/N about all of that right now.

"Wait, where are you going? Where will you stay?"

"Don't even act like you care. I got thrown out because of you and you used it to your advantage. You even used the fact that I got abused to your advantage!"

"Stop it, Nayeon. You're exaggerating." Y/N looked at her and Nayeon is so done with her right now.

"I'm going to my mom. She's devastated. I need to be with her." Nayeon informed and left the house.

"Fuck!" Y/N yelled once her girlfriend left. There's no way that Nayeon will ever forgive her.

"Y/N are you okay?" Mrs. Chou approached her. "This is what we tried to warn you for, Y/N. You may have your revenge now but you lost your happiness."

"I don't need someone to be happy besides stop acting like you care about me, you're not even my real mother." Of course Y/N didn't mean to say that but she's just so angry with everything that she took it out on her mother. Y/N may act like she's okay but it isn't easy for her either. She still can't accept the fact that Mrs. Chou is not her real mother.

"Y/N..." The woman was speechless, luckily Y/N walked away without saying anything further.
