Chapter 5

"Where's Chaeyoung?" Y/N asked one of the maids when she entered her house.

"She's in the living room with Ms. Tzuyu." The maid answered and Y/N went to the living room.

"Explain this." Y/N glared at Chaeyoung as she threw the pictures towards her, making both Tzuyu and Chaeyoung confused.

"What's this?" Chaeyoung asked as she took one of the pictures and her eyes widened when she saw what was on it.

"Where did you get this?" Chaeyoung stood up from the couch.

"I got threatened with those pictures. When are you going to stop being so irresponsible? How many times am I going to have to save you from getting into trouble?" Y/N said in a calm tone even though she's mad. She's really sick of getting Chaeyoung out of trouble all the time.

"Oh c'mon unnie. It's not a big deal." Chaeyoung shrugged it off.

"Not a big deal? Don't you realize what would have happened if those pictures got released? And out of all the girls it's Myoui Mina?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"What even is on these pictures?" Tzuyu also stood up and took the picture from Chaeyoung's hand and her eyes widened as well.

"Aren't you proud that it's Myoui Mina? That girl kept rejecting me but I somehow managed to make her kiss me." Chaeyoung said proudly.

"How can I be proud? What should I be proud of? That you're causing trouble all the time? That I'm getting threatened because of you? That I have to keep saving you?" Y/N is really mad right now. She just wishes Chaeyoung would stop acting like a kid.

"I had one condition when we took you in in this house and that was to start being at least a little bit responsible but here you are disappointing me once again." The truth is Chaeyoung's parents actually threw her out because she kept causing trouble. They were going to send her abroad but Chaeyoung didn't want to and that's where Y/N's family stepped in and took her in. Chaeyoung's family agreed because they trust Y/N and Tzuyu and they believed that Chaeyoung would fix her attitude if she hangs out with her cousins more.

"What am I doing that's so bad huh? Am I doing drugs? Am I killing people? Am I an alcoholic? No! I'm just trying to live my life as I want to but everyone keeps acting as if I'm a burden to them!" Chaeyoung defended.

"I'm not saying that you shouldn't have fun. The only thing I want from you is to be careful. Can't you see that people keep targeting us by using you? You're our weak link and they know it." Y/N knows very well how to control her anger. No one has heard her even yell once, not even her own family. She's always calm and has a good way with words. Even though she's calm right now, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu can both see that she's pretty mad. The fact that she stays calm in this kind of situation just makes it scarier.

"What's going on here?" Y/N's mother came into the scene and Tzuyu just showed her the picture. The woman immediately knew what was going on.

"Do you think it's easy? Do you think it's easy to live like this? I can't do the things that I want to. I can't live like a normal 21 year old because in everyone's opinion my status and reputation are more important than anything! I never wanted this life so why do I have to pay for it?"

"None of us wanted to live this life but we're all adjusting to it aren't we?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"If I'm such a burden to you then why are you keeping me here? Throw me out just like my parents did." Chaeyoung said in a sad voice as she approached Y/N and now they're standing closely to each other.

"If you keep acting like this then I might as well do that." Y/N said in a serious tone.

"I fucking hate you." Chaeyoung bumped into Y/N and walked away in full speed.

"Chaeyoung-ah!" Y/N's mom yelled after her but with no response.

"I'll go after her." Tzuyu informed.

"Don't you think you were being a bit too harsh on her? You know how she's having a difficult time."

"I know that, that's why I kept my mouth shut until now but she keeps putting me in a bad position and I have to keep saving her all the time. It's tiring for me too, you know, to carry this family and the company all by myself." Y/N said weakly and left the scene as well.

"Chaeyoung-ah! Wait!" Tzuyu ran after her. They're literally in the middle of the streets right now.

"What? Are you going to tell me the same thing as her?"

"No. Let's just talk, don't run away." Tzuyu grabbed her cousin's arm.

"Let's just go somewhere else." Chaeyoung suggested and with that they went for a walk.

"You know Y/N unnie cares about you a lot right? She's just worried about you. She keeps protecting all of us and it's getting hard for her too."

"I don't need her protection." Chaeyoung shook her head.

"Yes, you do. If it wasn't for her, you would've been abroad right now, doing who knows what."

"At this point I'd rather be there."

"You're lying. I know you care about unnie equally as much as she cares about you. Admit it that you're pretty careless sometimes. You're not easy to deal with." Tzuyu laughed and that made Chaeyoung laugh too.

"I know, I know. Even when my own family abandoned me, Y/N unnie stood up for me."

"Exactly, so you have to understand where she's coming from a bit as well. She never asked you to change your attitude or the things that you do. She just wants you to be more responsible and careful. The world out there is cruel. We haven't seen much of it, but she has. That's why she's so protective over us." Tzuyu defended.

"I understand her, believe me but it just gets too much for me sometimes as well." The bad girl admitted.

"How did you manage to kiss Myoui Mina though?" Tzuyu is really curious about that. Mina hates Chaeyoung's guts so no one would be expecting this.

"She acts like she hates me but deep down she loves me." Chaeyoung winked.

"You didn't force her, right?"

"Yah! You know I won't do something like that. She just finally opened her eyes." Chaeyoung smirked.

"Ms. Chou, I found this in your office this morning." Dahyun handed Y/N something what seemed to be like a wallet. She opened it and looked at the ID, to see that it was Im Nayeon's.

"It's Im Nayeon's. She probably dropped it yesterday."

"Do you want me to bring it to her?" Dahyun asked.

"No, I'll do it myself. I'm leaving now anyways." Y/N informed and Dahyun nodded.

"You're so careless, Im Nayeon. How could you drop your wallet in my office?" Y/N asked herself and made her way to ImTech. She doesn't want to face Im Nayeon, but she should give the wallet back to the owner. She could've told Dahyun to bring it but Y/N would rather do it herself.

Y/N walked into the ImTech building and all eyes were on her. Of course everyone knows who she is. She is a famous CEO after all. Everyone became curious upon why she's here so a lot of whispers were heard.

"Can I see Im Nayeon? I'll be quick." Y/N asked the secretary.

"You can go straight to her office."

"You're not going to let her know or anything?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"Ms. Im told us to immediately lead you to her office if you happen to come by." The secretary smiled. Oh so that explains why they didn't even let her know. Y/N went to the office where they told her to go to but she stopped when she heard two people talking in the office. She didn't mean to eavesdrop but the two voices sounded very familiar.

"You're so pathetic Nayeon-ah. You couldn't even get that loser Chou Y/N to invest in your project." The guy laughed.

"I still have two days. I can convince her." Nayeon said in an angry tone.

"Just give up already. You already know that I'm going to be the next CEO of ImTech. Why are you even trying?" Y/N saw that the door was a bit open so she went closer and looked into the office. There she could see Nayeon and her older brother Jin.

"You're never becoming the CEO. I won't let that happen."

"You're so funny, sister. You realize that if Chou Y/N doesn't agree with it that your chances of becoming a CEO disappear right? I can't believe dad gave you a condition like that, but I'm happy about it. We all know what's going to happen anyways. Chou Y/N is not going to invest and that little project of yours will disappear." Y/N widened her eyes upon hearing that. So the reason why Nayeon keeps bothering her is because the project won't go through if she doesn't invest?

"Even if that project doesn't go through, I still won't let you be the CEO. As long as I'm alive you'll never get that position." Nayeon went closer to him but the guy pushed her harshly towards the desk.

"Say that again. Who do you think you are huh? You really think that I'm intimidated by you? You and I both know that dad would prefer me as a CEO."

"That's because you keep kissing his ass." Nayeon smirked.

"You fucking bitch." Jin raised his hand to hit Nayeon but was stopped by someone who held his arm. It all happened so fast that both Jin and Nayeon are confused.

"Chou Y/N?" The guy started to laugh and freed his arm from Y/N's grip. What is Y/N even doing here?

"Look at this Nayeon-ah, the person that will end your dreams of becoming a CEO is trying to save your ass from me." The guy continued to laugh.

"It's been a while, Jin-ssi." Y/N said calmly. Nayeon is confused. The two know each other?

"Why are you here?" Jin suddenly stopped laughing and became all serious.

"That's none of your business."

"You have no right to come in between me and my sister like that." Jin went closer to her.

"And you have no right to hit women like that. But what else can I expect from you? You've always been a coward." Y/N smiled and Jin's blood is starting to boil. Nayeon is quite enjoying this. She loves it when people go against Jin like this.

"I don't know why you're here but you better leave." The guy warned her but Y/N didn't answer. Luckily his assistant interrupted the scene.

"Jin-ssi, your father is looking for you."

"I need to go now. It was nice to see you again Y/N-ssi." He fake smiled and left the office.

"Are you okay?" Y/N asked Nayeon as she touched the girl's arm lightly. Her brother pushed her pretty harshly so Y/N guesses that it might have hurt. Nayeon's heart softened by seeing the worry in Y/N's eyes but then again she could be faking it.

"I'm okay. Why are you here, Y/N-ssi?"

"You dropped this in my office." Y/N handed her the wallet.

"Oh I was looking for it all day. Thank you for bringing it but couldn't your assistant bring it?"

"I'd rather give personal things myself." Y/N informed. Seeing how Nayeon's brother treated his sister, really triggered Y/N. She knows Jin very well actually and the two despise each other.

"Is there anything else?" Nayeon questioned after a short silence. Y/N seems to be in deep thoughts.

"I'll invest in your project."

"W-what?" Nayeon stuttered.

"I'll invest in your project. But under one condition."

"What is it?" Nayeon really hopes that the condition is something that she can agree on.

"Let me help you with it. We can adjust it together. That way I can be sure about where my money is going to." Y/N suggested and Nayeon chuckled. Y/N wasn't even planning on doing this. She was just supposed to return the wallet and leave. It all happened because she saw Jin.

"How about we sit down first?" Nayeon asked and Y/N nodded as both of them sat down.

"How can I know if I can trust you? I mean maybe you're doing this so you can take all the credit for it."

"I don't want any credit for it. I'll just be an investor and nothing else." Y/N informed.

"Then why would you help me? It doesn't make any sense. You weren't planning on helping me until now."

"I just want to invest in a good project and... I heard about your dad's condition."

"Oh so you heard our conversation earlier?" Nayeon looked down. Now she feels ashamed.

"Yeah, I did. It's a good idea so it really would be a waste if the project doesn't go through. I don't want to be the cause of you losing the chance of becoming a CEO." The truth is, seeing Jin brought back past memories. She really doesn't like the guy and she wants to see him fail. He'll fail when Nayeon succeeds, so if that means that she has to invest in this project then she'll do it.

"I don't need you to feel bad for me." Nayeon hates in what position she is right now.

"I don't feel bad for you. I feel bad for all your effort. So let me just help you. We'll both gain a lot from it if we do."

"I don't know if I should trust you. Maybe you're helping oppa to bring me down." She's been stabbed in the back so many times, that she can't trust anyone right now.

"You have no other choice, do you Nayeon-ssi? If you don't let me help you then the project won't go through at all and you'll lose your chances of becoming a CEO but if you do let me help you it could be very beneficial. It's up to you though." It's Nayeon's choice to make now.

"Even if I let you help me, there's no time. I only have two days left until the deadline. There's no way we can adjust everything in such a short time." Nayeon shook her head and placed it in between her two hands while her elbows were on her desk.

"Then we should start immediately." Y/N stood up.

"W-what? But I already send all the employees home, there's no one that can help us." Nayeon informed.

"Another reason for you to get up and start working. We can do this, Nayeon-ssi." Y/N assured smiling.

"You should be more confident, you know? Confidence is key in this industry." Y/N informed.

"You seem a bit too confident though." Nayeon chuckled.

"Well, that's your opinion." Y/N smiled and looked at Nayeon. Nayeon is really hoping that Y/N is actually planning on helping her. Y/N could've easily said that she won't invest after hearing her conversation with Jin, she could've used it to threaten Nayeon just like how Nayeon threatened her but Y/N isn't doing any that. At least not yet.

"So where should we start?" Y/N asked and with that they started working on their project. And let me tell you, they need every second if they want to finish on time.
