Chapter 50

The police didn't let go of Y/N all night. They kept asking her questions and told her that she needs to wait. She feels like shit honestly. Knowing that her ex-girlfriend did this, really breaks her heart.

"You can go, Chou Y/N." Finally they're letting her go. It's morning already, she didn't get to sleep all night. "You'll have to come back though. We'll keep investigating this and don't you dare disappear."

"I won't, believe me. After all I'm innocent. I have no reason to disappear." Y/N told the officer and got out of the room.

"Y/N! Honey, are you okay?" Her mother hugged her.

"I'm okay. Why are you guys still here? Did you stay here all night?"

"Yeah, we did. We can't leave you alone in a situation like this." Mr. Chou informed as he patted Y/N's back.

"Thanks guys." Y/N said weakly as she looked down.

"We know that Nayeon did this. It's all over the news." Tzuyu told her.

"I fucking want to go and kill her." Chaeyoung said in anger. How dare she lie about something like this? She gets it, Y/N hurt her but isn't this too much?

"Calm down, Chaeyoung-ah. We'll fix this, we'll get through this." Y/N assured.

"Oh Y/N, they're letting you go?" Sana approached them. She has been talking to the officers for quite some time now trying to figure out what to do.

"Yeah, for now at least."

"C'mon let's go, Y/N. Let's get you home." Her mother said and grabbed her arm. The moment they stepped outside of the police station, they got surrounded by like 20 reporters.

"My client has nothing to say. Please leave her alone." Sana pleaded as she was the one walking in the front.

"Ms. Chou, why did you force Im Nayeon to be with you? Did you do it to get shares in ImTech?" One of the reporters asked which made Y/N stop in her tracks. She can't listen to these stupid accusations.

"Listen up everybody." Y/N said in a serious tone and everyone kept quiet. "I am being falsely accused of something that I didn't do. I never forced Im Nayeon to be with me, I didn't harass her in any way and I absolutely did not sexually assault her."

"Then what are those pictures?" A man asked.

"I admit that I was involved with her. But I never did anything to her without her consent. Everything was both sided. The lack of evidence and witnesses that have seen my relationship with her from up close will prove that I am innocent. Now please let me and my family go." She said and the reporters started to ask even more questions. This is a case that no one has ever seen before so everyone is naturally curious on what the hell is happening.

Nayeon is watching Y/N's speech on the tv. She's feeling bad. She can't believe that she managed to lie to the police about this. She knows that this is a very cruel action of hers and it hurts her to see Y/N like this. Nayeon literally went to Y/N's apartment yesterday to make up, but then she was met with Y/N and Sana making out. If Nayeon had never seen that scene then this wouldn't be happening right now. Her jealousy and anger towards Y/N caused her to do this.

"I see you executed your dad's plan huh?" Jinyoung suddenly walked into her office.

"Why are you here again?" Nayeon needs to tell her secretary to not let this guy in without her permission.

"To congratulate you. Look at Chou Holdings' stock prices. They've dropped with like 10%. While yours, Im Nayeon, are actually rising." He showed the numbers on his phone.

"Is this all because of the news?"

"Yes, it is. Have you read the comments?" The guy asked and Nayeon shook her head.

"Well, you should read them." He handed his phone and Nayeon started to read the comments. Some people are cursing out Y/N while some actually don't believe that Y/N would do something like this.

"As you can see the opinions are divided. Some believe her speech and some don't. You can go out and give a speech too, you know. They're practically waiting for you in front of the company." He chuckled.

"What can I even say?"

"The same thing you told the police and try to cry a bit to make it more believable." He laughed.

"I can't do that." She shook her head."That's too much." She can't go out and lie to the entire country, can she?

"Look if it comes out that you filed a false complaint, your career will be over. People are already wondering why you haven't said anything about this. No one will believe this unless you speak up as well or are you a coward, Ms. Im?"

"I'm not, Jinyoung."

"Prove it." He's really pushing Nayeon's buttons right now. He knows Nayeon well. He knows that doing this will work.

"I know what you're trying to do, but it won't work. I'm not doing this to bring her company or her down. I'm just doing this to get back her shares, which is something that never belonged to her in the first place." Nayeon said in a scary tone. She's already done enough harm to Y/N, she can't make it worse by talking to those reporters.

"Do whatever you want, but I think you should speak up before people start to doubt you. If you don't execute this plan the right way, it might harm you more than it harms Y/N."

"Can you just leave? I don't even understand why you're here."

"Okay, okay, I'll leave. You can thank me later." He winked and left the office. She knows Jinyoung is right. People are going to start to question things if Nayeon doesn't speak up and that's where the problem lies. She doesn't want to speak up. She doesn't want to lie in front of millions of people just for her own sake. But does she have another choice?

"They keep talking about Y/N unnie and Nayeon." Chaeyoung sighed as she was watching the news with Tzuyu and Mrs. Chou in the living room. She feels very bad for her older cousin.

"Why would Nayeon even do something like this? It doesn't make any sense. Is this because Y/N unnie put her family in jail? Or because she used her to do that?" Tzuyu questioned in frustration.

"I feel like something else is going on between the two." Chaeyoung guessed.

"I agree. We need to make sure that Y/N is okay. She acts like she's okay, but she's obviously shocked by what happened." Mrs. Chou added. After about a minute Tzuyu saw Y/N walking into the living room and she immediately changed the channel.

"No need to change the channel, Tzuyu-yah. I know they were talking about me."

"It was nothing important really." Tzuyu tried to convince. It was actually something very important because they were just about to show Nayeon responding to the case. That's why Tzuyu changed the channel.

"You wouldn't have changed it if it wasn't important." Y/N said and took the remote from Tzuyu to change the channel back to the news. The moment she changed it, she saw that they were filming Nayeon. Reporters are following her around in front of ImTech and they keep asking her questions about the case. Y/N is kinda nervous. Will Nayeon just ignore the reporters or will she answer them? And if she answers, is she going to lie?

"Im Nayeon, is it true that you filed the complaint?" One of the reporters asked. Nayeon didn't answer and just kept walking towards her car. However the reporters kept following her and asking the same question over and over again which started to annoy Nayeon. Some reporters even started to say that Nayeon was lying because she wasn't answering. That's when she stopped walking and faced the reporters.

"Yes, I filed the complaint." She simply answered and more questions followed.

"Did Chou Y/N really force you to be with her?"

"She did. She forced me to be with her." Nayeon said it with a lot of difficulty, but since she's been acting all her life so no one noticed it. "She assaulted me and harassed me just to get revenge on my dad and brother." She said in a sad voice. After saying that, she got in her car and left the place. This should be enough to make them believe her, right?

"I can't believe that bitch. I'm going to teach her a lesson." Chaeyoung said as she hit the table in anger. Y/N doesn't even know how to feel right now. Nayeon said it with so much sincerity that it looks like she's believing her own lies.

"Unnie, did she come to see you yesterday?" Tzuyu asked.

"No, she didn't. Why would she?"

"I just remembered, she came here yesterday and asked where you were." Tzuyu informed. Because of everything that happened in the police station, it slipped her mind that Nayeon came here yesterday asking for her sister.

"W-what? When?"

"Like an hour before you came home. She asked me if you were here and I told her that you're at your apartment. Didn't she come?" Tzuyu asked and Y/N started to think about it and it didn't take her long to connect the dots.

"Fuck. She saw us." She sighed.

"Saw what?" Mrs. Chou asked.

"I need to go." Y/N suddenly said and grabbed her stuff.

"Y/N, where are you going?"

"I just need to go somewhere. I'll be right back."

"Be careful, unnie." Tzuyu pleaded and Y/N nodded before leaving her house. She got in her car and started to drive to Nayeon's house. Now Y/N gets why Nayeon did it. It isn't because of her using Nayeon or because she didn't sell the shares. It's because she saw her with Sana. Y/N remembered the loud sound while she was with Sana. She shrugged it off at that moment, but now that she thinks about it it was the sound of a closing door. Since Nayeon still has the keys to her apartment, she's sure that Nayeon saw them. It all makes sense since Y/N got arrested only a few hours later.

Y/N wants to explain what Nayeon saw yesterday. Y/N won't deny that she was making out with Sana. She did. But she knows what Nayeon is thinking right now. Nayeon is probably thinking that Y/N and Sana have been doing this for a long time, which is not true. The last time Y/N and Sana actually had hooked up was in college, just like Y/N told Nayeon before. She has never cheated on Nayeon while they were dating. Scratch that, she hasn't even spoken to anyone else since she met Nayeon. She had only eyes for Nayeon, but Nayeon doesn't think that way right now. She is convinced that Y/N cheated on her while they were still dating.

Y/N was feeling vulnerable yesterday and Sana has been by her side ever since what happened with Mr. Im and Jin. Sana has been treating her well and at that moment they just happened to start making out. It didn't go further than making out, but it surely did last long. Sana knows that Y/N is in love with Nayeon and Y/N absolutely has no feelings for Sana. Y/N just did it to take her mind off of Nayeon for a bit. Besides she didn't think it would be a big deal now that she and Nayeon are broken up.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Mrs. Im asked when she saw Y/N in front of her door.

"Is Nayeon here?"

"No, even if she was I wouldn't let her talk to you. You assaulter." She said in an angry tone.

"You know very well that I didn't assault her. You've seen our relationship yourself. So how about you stop acting?" Y/N is getting really annoyed with this woman. It seems like she forgot how Y/N took care of Nayeon instead of her.

"Shut up and leave! Don't you even dare come back here!"

"Mom, what's going on?" Nayeon approached her mother and stopped in her tracks when she saw Y/N. So she is home. Y/N knew that Mrs. Im was lying.

"Can we talk?" Y/N asked Nayeon.

"I already said that you can't. Leave before I call the police." Nayeon's mother threatened.

"Mom, it's okay. I have something to say to her as well." Nayeon informed. She did all of this to get Y/N's shares back and she can't do it if she doesn't talk to Y/N.

"Be fast." The woman said and left the two alone.

"I think it's better if we talk in my room." Nayeon suggested to which Y/N nodded. Nayeon can't even look Y/N in the eye right now. She's scared of what Y/N is going to do or say. After all Y/N is smart, dangerous and powerful. She did this all without thinking about who Y/N actually is. She didn't think of the possibility that Y/N might want to get revenge on her for doing this.

"I'm listening." Nayeon crossed her arms.

"Why did you do it? Why did you tell everyone that I forced you to be with me? Let alone that, you filed a complaint Nayeon. Don't you think you went too far?"

"When you do it, it's okay but when I do it, it's too far?" Nayeon raised her eyebrows. How dare Y/N act like a victim when she was the one who started the fight?

"This doesn't compare to what I did to you. Yes, I played with your emotions which was only in the beginning by the way. But you? You're humiliating me in front of the whole country and you're making me seem like an assaulter, while I'm definitely not. My problem isn't even that you filed a complaint. My problem is that you're lying." Nayeon can really see the hurt in Y/N's eyes. She has never seen Y/N like this before. It looks like she's very affected by this, Nayeon can tell by the way Y/N's talking. She has this sad tone in her voice. It's not even anger, it's something else.

"I'm not lying. Everything I said is true. You forced me to be with you, Chou Y/N." Y/N raised her eyebrows upon hearing that.

"You can't be serious right now. You realize that this is something huge right? This isn't a minor thing such as playing with somoene's feelings. This is a serious accusation, Nayeon-ah."

"So what you did to me is a minor thing?" Nayeon chuckled.

"No, I didn't mean it like that. I know I hurt you and I regret hurting you."

"It doesn't even matter, Y/N. Just sell me your shares and I'll drop the charges." There's the line that Y/N was expecting to hear. You can never be ahead of Y/N. She can predict everyone's actions beforehand. Especially the actions of the Im family.

"Is this really what it's all about? Did you really do all of this just to get my shares?" Y/N knows Nayeon well. She knows Nayeon wouldn't do it just for the shares and now she knows the real reason behind it too.

"Yes. You should've sold them to me when you got the chance."

"I didn't sell them to you because I want to protect you. Can't you realize that?"

"I never asked for you to fucking protect me Y/N! I wanted one thing from you and that was those shares but you couldn't even give that to me!" Nayeon raised her voice.

"I know this was all your dad's plan. I know he told you to do all of this. Are you really siding with him now? I'm not the bad guy here, Nayeon-ah. He is. Once you get back those shares, they'll bring you down. I'm not selling those shares to you so that you can keep your CEO position." Contrary to Nayeon, Y/N is keeping herself very calm.

"Stop it! Do you really think I'm that stupid? They can't bring me down whatever the fuck they do. I can handle myself without your protection so just leave me to do at least one thing on my own!" Nayeon pleaded. It seems like Mr. Im managed to manipulate his daughter pretty well. Nayeon really still thinks that Y/N is the bad guy here while she's the one that's trying to protect her.

"Besides aren't you the one that was planning to destroy ImTech? Why would you try to protect it now?" Nayeon questioned.

"Because I met you. My plans changed the moment I fell for you can't you understand?"

"No, I fucking can't Y/N!" Nayeon yelled and Y/N just sighed. Seems like she'll never believe her.

"I know that you saw me with Sana yesterday." Nayeon froze upon hearing that. How does Y/N even know? Did she see Nayeon there? "I also know that that's the real reason why you did this."

"It doesn't matter. We broke up. You can do what you want." Nayeon is tearing up just thinking of the scene that she saw yesterday.

"It does matter." Y/N approached her. "I know what you're thinking. Just know that I never cheated on you. Hell, I'm so in love with you that I didn't even look at anyone else but you. What you saw yesterday was just a one time thing. It didn't mean anything and only happened after we broke up."

"I don't care, Y/N. I don't care if you love me, what your plans are, wether you're fucking Sana or not. I just want those shares."

"You're lying. You're jealous and mad, that's why you're acting like this." Y/N looked at her.

"You assaulted me Y/N. You forced me to do things with you that I didn't want to do. Do you think that I would care about Sana and you after you assaulted me? Are you forcing her to be with you as well?"

"Here we go again." Y/N sighed." Stop doing this please. At least stop lying in front of me. Go lie to the police, go lie to the press but don't lie to me. We were happy, Nayeon-ah. Say whatever you want to say but we both know that we wanted that relationship. I love you, I still do and I know that you love me too." Y/N said weakly.

"We weren't happy because it wasn't mutual, Y/N. I never loved you." Nayeon said looking down which got Y/N taken aback.

"W-what?" Y/N is starting to tear up at this point.

"I said I that I don't love you."

"Look me in the eyes when you tell me that. I don't believe you." Y/N held Nayeon's chin and lift it up so that they can look each other in the eyes. The moment Nayeon looked at her ex-girlfriend, her heart broke. Y/N 's eyes are watery and hurt. She never would've thought to see Y/N like this.

They looked each other in the eyes for what seemed like an eternity until Nayeon finally spoke up.

"I don't love you Y/N. So please just let me go." Nayeon looked into Y/N's eyes saying that. She knows Y/N won't stop until she says the four words that no one wants to hear.

Y/N distanced herself from Nayeon and a tear escaped her eye. She hates to cry in front of Nayeon but the way Nayeon said that she doesn't love her really did something to her. Nayeon on the other hand is trying very hard not to burst out in tears. She needs to hold it all in for Y/N to believe her.

"Then what was it that we had Nayeon?" Y/N wiped the tear that fell from her eye. She doesn't believe Nayeon. She knows that the girl loves her but does that even matter when the person you love doesn't want to love you anymore? It's clear that Nayeon regrets falling for Y/N. Y/N tried to explain herself multiple times but Nayeon didn't even give her the chance. Is it really worth the fight when Nayeon keeps cutting her off like this?

"Nothing. What we had was nothing. Just accept it." Nayeon looked away. She can't let Y/N see that she's tearing up.

"You really mean it?" Y/N asked one last time to which Nayeon nodded. There Y/N decided to give up. Yes, she loves her but her pride won't let her continue to beg Nayeon to listen to her. If Nayeon really loved her she would at least have listened to her explanation, but she didn't.

"Okay, I'll sell you my shares if you drop the charges. Come to my office tomorrow for the exchange and after that let's not see each other. I'll leave you and ImTech alone. Let's cut all ties within our companies and I'll pull back as an investor from the project as well."

"Okay." Nayeon nodded weakly.

"But mark my words Nayeon-ah. Once you get those shares, you won't be the CEO for long anymore. You're going to wish that I had protected you."

"That's not going to happen. I'm going to be the CEO until the day I die."

"I hope so. I really hope that I'm wrong. I should go now." Y/N said and left the room. She walked out of the house as fast as she could and left.

"She left?" Mrs. Im entered Nayeon's room.

"S-she left." Nayeon stuttered and burst out in tears. The hardest thing she's ever done in her life was telling Y/N that she doesn't love her.

"It's okay, honey. This is for the best." The woman hugged her daughter.

"Why do I feel like it's not? Why does my heart want to go after her?"

"What the heart wants is not always what's best for you, Nayeon-ah. She hurt you too much and will only hurt you more in the future. She doesn't love you like that, just accept it. She used you and cheated on you. Don't give your heart to someone like that." Nayeon's mother is really saying this as if she didn't give her heart to a man that cheated on her like thousand times.

"I hate my life. I fucking hate it!" Nayeon yelled and sat on her bed. Y/N was the first good thing that happened in her life. For the first time in her life she felt safe with someone, she felt happy and secure but that got taken away from her once again. Why can't the universe let her be happy for once? Why does she always have to live in misery like this?
