Chapter 58

The Cure // Im Nayeon x Reader

Another week has passed and Nayeon has found an apartment to stay at. She moved there about three days ago and she's glad that she actually found a very nice place. Of course she wishes that she could be with Y/N but she hates to make Y/N and her family uncomfortable so leaving was the best option.

After the kiss, Y/N and Nayeon didn't act any different. Both of them are just ignoring the fact that they kissed and they act like nothing happened. But that doesn't mean that they forgot about it. In fact both can't stop thinking about it. They know they need to talk about it but both of them are scared that the talk will lead to the end of everything. The talk will determine wether they'll continue to be friendly or wether they'll cut off each other from their lives.

"Welcome, Ms. Im. Please take a seat." Mr. Cheong, the CEO of CheongTech welcomed her.

"Hello, Mr. Cheong. Nice to see you again." Nayeon smiled.

"Nice to see you too. So you're here for the files, right?" Nayeon sold her shares to him the day after she talked to Y/N about it. However she did ask the man to wait with making the announcement. She wanted to move into her new apartment first.

"Yes, I am." Nayeon answered and the man handed her some important files.

"I want the announcement to be made today. I want everyone to know that I don't have any ties to ImTech anymore."

"Whatever you want Nayeon-ssi. I'm glad we came to an agreement very quickly. I knew you were nothing like your father. You're way smarter than him and after what they did to you, this was definitely the right choice to make." The man stated.

"I might cut all ties with the company and my family but I'm trusting you to make their lives a living hell." If anyone can do it, besides Y/N, it would be Mr. Cheong.

"Of course that's why I'm buying the shares. Your father really made it difficult for me in the past. He did some things that I'm afraid to say out loud. I must say Chou Y/N did a great job by bringing him and your brother down but as long as ImTech is well and alive, he won't feel like he's brought down. He needs to lose the company in order to feel what it's like to lose everything he has." He basically has the same mindset as Y/N in the beginning. Y/N just wanted to destroy ImTech because it's the most important thing in Mr. Im's life, however her plan changed after she fell in love with his daughter.

"That's what he deserves. But what is your plan anyways?" Nayeon wondered.

"I don't think you'd want to know, Nayeon-ssi. For your own well being, it's best if you don't know."

"Yes, you're right." Nayeon doesn't want anything to do with her family or ImTech, so it's best if she doesn't know. She should just let Mr. Cheong do his job.

"Then everything is settled right?'" The man asked.

"Yes it is. Thank you Mr. Cheong." Nayeon stood up and bowed.

"Thank you too, Nayeon-ssi." He smiled and with that Nayeon left the place.

Nayeon went home afterwards and decided to rest a bit. She's been keeping herself busy by selling the shares and also trying to come up with ideas for a possible new business.

She was watching some tv when suddenly someone rang her doorbell. She stood up and opened the front door to see Y/N standing in front of her.

"Y/N? What are you doing here?" Ever since Nayeon moved out, they haven't talked that much.

"You're not letting me in?" The CEO raised her eyebrows.

"Of course I am. Come in." Nayeon widened the door and Y/N entered.

"This place is nice." Y/N sat down and so did Nayeon. It's actually the first time that Y/N sees this place. She badly wanted to help Nayeon move in here but she was so busy that she barely had the time.

"Yeah, it's enough for now."

"I heard the announcement. I'm sure your dad, Jin and Jinyoung are freaking out right now." Y/N chuckled.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure too. I just hope they'll stop coming at me after this. I got rid of everything that I still had from them and now I officially don't have any ties to the company."

"They're going to be angry but they won't come back at you right away. Also I think Mr. Cheong will take over ImTech soon. Then they'll just have no power to get to you." Y/N guessed.

"I hope you're right." Nayeon smiled and the moment she locked eyes with Y/N, she immediately looked away. Just by looking at her, she becomes nervous. She keeps replaying their kiss in her head and she can't help but want to do it again.

"Well, I should go now. I just came here to see your new place." Y/N stood up and was about to leave.

"Wait." Nayeon grabbed her arm. "Do you maybe want to watch a movie or something? I'm a bit lonely here all by myself." She knows this is a bold move to make, but she really doesn't want Y/N to leave

"Euhmm." Y/N didn't really know what to answer. She knows the best thing to do is just leave. She knows that Nayeon will bring up their kiss if she stays here any longer and she's not ready to talk about that yet.

"Please?" Nayeon pleaded. The hope in the woman's eyes is what made Y/N eventually give in.

"Fine." Y/N sighed. She's going to have to face the situation eventually.

The two sat down on the couch with some distance in between them and watched the movie. They're both not concentrating on the movie though. Nayeon is trying to keep her heartbeat steady while Y/N is trying really hard not to feel awkward.

"What is your plan now? I mean you got an apartment, got rid of the shares. What's next?" Y/N questioned totally ignoring the movie.

"I'm thinking about starting a small company. I don't know what exactly yet but I don't want it to be big."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't want enemies. The bigger you get the more enemies you'll gain. Besides I'm satisfied with a small company. I'm honestly sick of being rich and everything that comes with it." Nayeon is really tired of acting like she's the perfect rich girl. Her family always pushed her to fit into the typical rich girl standards and she hated it. That's how she also got a reputation that doesn't match her actual personality at all. She had to pretend 24/7 to be someone that she was not and it was exhausting.

"Me too. It's probably even worse for you since your family are one of those typical rich assholes." Y/N is lucky that her family isn't like that. They're rich but they're humble about it, something Nayeon's family can't relate to at all.

"I have to thank you for that though." Nayeon said out of the blue.

"Me? Why me?"

"I was just like them. Remember I didn't even eat cheap food because of my reputation." Nayeon laughed and Y/N joined. "But you showed me that money isn't everything. Money doesn't make happy." Nayeon shook her head. This is something that she only started to realize when Y/N walked into her life

"Then what does make happy?" Y/N asked out of curiosity.

"I..." Nayeon knows the exact answer to that but she can't say it out loud. "I can't answer that. I'm yet to find out." She decided to lie.

"You'll find it out soon."

"Are you happy, Y/N?" Nayeon asked making Y/N feel taken aback. No one has ever asked her that question and she had to think a second before answering.

"I am. I was not happy for a long time. I spend years planning my revenge and I was basically obsessed. My family also went through a lot of things so happiness was not something in my dictionary. But that changed now." Nayeon was actually a bit sad to hear that. Ever since they broke up, Nayeon hasn't been happy and she was hoping that Y/N would feel the same way.

"When did it change?" Nayeon looked into Y/N's eyes.

"I don't think we should talk about this."

"Please tell me. I want to know." Nayeon pleaded. They ended their relationship on bad terms and Nayeon didn't even listen to what Y/N had to say so she's curious about what answer Y/N is going to give.

Y/N looked at Nayeon and saw that Nayeon is actually anticipating for her to answer. She's always had a soft spot for Nayeon so she decided to answer.

"The day I stopped thinking about revenge. After I finally got justice for the Park's death, I felt a huge weight come off of my shoulders. It was something that was eating me inside and I hated that I couldn't do anything about it. But when I finally did, I felt happy."

"I stopped thinking about the past and I realized that I was living a good life. I'm a successful CEO, I have a caring family and I'm wealthy. It was just that stupid revenge that made me blind to everything else around me. But that revenge was also my cure. If I hadn't gotten it, I still wouldn't have been happy." Y/N explained. She looked at Nayeon and could see that Nayeon was tearing up.

"I'm so sorry, Y/N. I had no idea you felt that way. I should have let you explain yourself."

"It's not your fault. You couldn't have known. I should have told you this while we were dating." Then maybe things would have actually worked out between them.

"I should have known that you weren't happy when we were together."

"Hey, that's not true. I was happy with you. I really was but I wasn't happy with my achievements. Then finding out about Jihyo being my sister and Mrs. Park being my birth mother, it just added onto that." Y/N went a bit closer to Nayeon.

"You never would have been happy with me because I'm the daughter of the man who killed your mother." Nayeon averted her gaze.

"Look at me." Y/N lifted Nayeon's chin up to make her look at her. "I never saw you as his daughter. I mean yes I did in the beginning but even then I didn't hate you. I knew you were innocent from day one and I never ever thought that you were involved with their crimes."

"You should have destroyed ImTech when you had the chance to. They deserve way more than just prison." Nayeon stated. If she had destroyed ImTech back then, both of them wouldn't have been this miserable right now.

"I couldn't. I didn't want to hurt you more than I already did." Nayeon's heart sank at hearing those words. Even after everything, how could Y/N still think about not hurting Nayeon when she has obviously hurt Y/N a lot.

"You're perfect, I hope you know that." Nayeon looked at Y/N with teary eyes.

"What makes you say that?"

"You're just perfect." Nayeon said weakly and both of them just stared at each other for a few seconds. How come that they're still deeply in love after hurting each other so much?

"So are you." Y/N whispered back. Nayeon couldn't hold herself back anymore and suddenly smashed her lips onto Y/N's. Y/N wanted to pull away at first since she doesn't want to make the same mistake like last time. They shouldn't go around and kiss each other and afterwards ignore that it ever happened. It will only break their relationship more.

Even though Y/N wanted to pull away, she didn't. In fact she started to kiss Nayeon back as she cupped the woman's face. She knows that they're going to have to talk about all of this afterwards and this might be their last kiss, so better make the most out of it.

Nayeon started to kiss Y/N more passionately to which Y/N immediately reacted. Their make out session is getting intenser and intenser since Nayeon decided to slide her tongue into Y/N's mouth. Their tongues fought for dominance as their heart beats couldn't keep up anymore.

Nayeon still couldn't get enough so she lightly pushed Y/N onto the couch and climbed on top of her. The young CEO knows this is going too far, but why does she feel numb? Why can't she stop Nayeon?

The two continued to make out for another minute until Y/N finally came to her senses and pulled away. Only when she pulled away, Nayeon realized what she did. That other night when they kissed, Y/N was the one that initiated it besides they were a bit drunk as well. But this time they weren't drunk and Y/N wasn't the one who initiated it, it was Nayeon.

"We shouldn't be doing this." Y/N pulled herself a bit up so that she's sitting on the couch now.

"I'm sorry, it's my fault." Nayeon sat up as well.

"It's not. It's both of our faults. I should just go." Y/N stood up but Nayeon grabbed her wrist.

"Stop running away from this. We can't ignore forever that we kissed twice now." Y/N knows that her ex-girlfriend is right so she sighed and sat back down.

"What are we even doing, Nayeon-ah? We can't just kiss and then act like nothing happened."

"Exactly. We should talk about it." Nayeon suggested.

"I don't even know what to say."

"Why did you kiss me that night?" Nayeon knows that Y/N won't start talking so she just decided to ask it right away.

"It just happened. Why did you kiss me just now?'

"Because I wanted to.'' Nayeon admitted. "I still love you, Y/N."

Y/N closed her eyes for a second when she heard Nayeon say that. She missed hearing those words come out of Nayeon's mouth, but it's not the same anymore. Those words used to bring her joy but now they bring her pain.

"You told me that you didn't when we broke up." The CEO reminded.

"I lied."

"Why?"

"Because I wanted to hurt you. I wanted to get back at you for going behind my back so I lied. Did you really believe that, Y/N? It's impossible for me to stop loving you. You have no idea how hard it has been living without you." Nayeon explained.

"Probably not that hard since you were in another relationship after ours."

"You know very well that that relationship was fake, so don't bring that up."

"What do you expect me to say? That I love you too?" Y/N asked a bit harshly.

"No, I don't. I don't even expect you to love me after everything."

"But I do, Nayeon-ah. I fucking do and it's killing me." Y/N admitted. Now that they're finally putting everything on the table, they should be honest with each other.

"I know, I'm so sorry." Nayeon shed a tear. "Please just give me a chance to fix it. I can't stand to know that I hurt you, I want to fix it. I'm not saying that we should get back together, I just want to fix our broken relationship even if it is as friends."

"Nayeon-ah, we hurt each other a lot. I don't think we can ever go back to the way it was. We became toxic for each other."

"We're not toxic for each other, Y/N. We get along well, very well in fact. But the circumstances just didn't allow us to and you know that." Nayeon continued to cry softly and Y/N hates to see it.

"Even if I give you a chance do you think we'll be able to fix this? We can't Nayeon-ah. Everytime you see me you'll remember how much I hurt you, how I betrayed you and every time I see you I'll remember how you falsely accused me. It won't be easy to get rid of these thoughts. Besides how can we fix things when we don't trust each other?"

"We can fix it if we fight for it. I don't even care what we will be, Y/N. I just want you in my life wether that's as friends or lovers, I don't care. I just don't want to lose you. I don't want to be strangers again so please Y/N give me another chance." Nayeon pleaded. She really doesn't want to lose Y/N.

"I don't want to lose you either but you know that it will be very hard right? Even if we want to stay friends. Our past will always get in the way."

"I can't force you to work on us but I really want to, Y/N-ie. I've never loved anyone as much as I love you and I just can't picture my life without you and you may not trust me but I do trust you." Yes Y/N went behind her back once but that was when they barely knew each other, now Nayeon is sure that Y/N wouldn't betray her like this. She finally got to see that Y/N was never the bad guy here, her family was.

"I do want to work on us. Believe me I really want to but I guess I'm worried because I'm not ready. You might feel ready but I know you're also not ready."

"Then what do you suggest we do?" Nayeon questioned. She really hopes Y/N won't cut her off.

"I think we need space for now. Let's just have some time apart. That way you can focus on starting your new business and I can focus on getting Chou Holdings back in track. In the meanwhile we can also think about our wrong doings and what we really want in the future. If after that we still want to work things out then we'll do."

"How long do you think we need to be apart?"

"I don't know. But when we're ready I'm sure we'll find a way back to each other. And even after that it'll take some time to fix our relationship." Y/N has never been in a relationship before but she knows that without giving each other space they can't even be friends. If they still want to stay in each other's lives, they should be apart for some time and then later on IF they find a way back to each other, they might become friends and if that goes well maybe they can be lovers again but Y/N doesn't really see a possibility in the second one.

"Okay, if that's what you want then we'll do it that way." Nayeon nodded. It's better than Y/N cutting her off entirely.

"What do you want? That's also important."

"I want you back but you're right we can't act like nothing happened so I agree with what you say. We need space and we need to think things through before we enter each other's lives again. But Y/N I promise you, I'll fight for you no matter what. Even if it takes years. I know you're my soulmate. I know that we were meant to fall in love." Nayeon has never been so sure of something. I mean think about it, after everything they still love each other. They entered each other's lives to take advantage of one another but ended up falling in love. Out of all the people out there Y/N really fell in love with the daughter of the murderer of her birth mother. She could have easily hated her but she never did.

"You might change your mind when we're apart. You could always meet someone else and forget about me." Y/N looked down. She doesn't want it to happen but it could. After all they might be happier with someone else.

"I don't think I can ever forget about you." Nayeon said weakly. However she's scared that Y/N will forget about her as well.

"We'll see what happens. For now we'll have to say goodbye."

"I hate that." Nayeon let a tear flow from down her face.

"Me too, but it's necessary." Y/N is holding herself back from crying. It is the second time that they're saying goodbye now. It feels like they're breaking up again but this time they weren't in a relationship in the first place.

"I know. I'm going to miss you, Y/N."

"I'll miss you too, Im Nayeon. Please take care. I should go now." Y/N stood up but Nayeon stopped her once again.

"Stay the night. We might never see each other again so please let's enjoy this one night together and then in the morning we'll start with giving each other space." Nayeon suggested. Even if she never meets Y/N again, at least she'll remember this night.

"Okay." Y/N answered weakly and sat back down.

"I love you Y/N please don't forget that after tomorrow. Just know that whatever happens you'll always have a place in my heart and whatever your decision will be, you can always count on me."

"I love you too, Nayeon-ah. I hope you'll finally get the life that you deserve to have wether that's with me or without me, I want you to be happy. Your happiness is all that matters to me." Y/N finally allowed herself to cry. Her heart hurts a lot. They are both crying messes right now. Nayeon hugged Y/N tightly and broke down heavily. She loves Y/N so much and it hurts. Is this how love is supposed to be?

Both of them don't know what the future holds for them. But right now their main focus is work. They'll take the space they need and if they still find a way back to each other after everything they went through then that'll mean that they were meant to be in each other's lives. However if they never meet again then that'll mean that it wasn't meant to be.

For now both are hoping that they'll meet again but both also think that the possibilities are low. They're both attractive and young, it'll only be a matter of time until they meet someone else.
