Epilogue
The Cure // Im Nayeon x Reader
One year later
A year has passed and many things have changed. Y/N got Chou Holdings back in track after the scandal and the company is doing better than ever. Nayeon has started her own small clothing company and even though it's a small company, it's pretty succesful.
Tzuyu has graduated by now and works with her older sister in Chou Holdings. Of course Tzuyu wanted an important position in the company but she's actually working as a regular employee right now. Y/N told her to start at the bottom and then climb up. That's how you really become succesful. You need to work in order to get a high position, just like how Y/N and Mr. Chou did.
As for Chaeyoung, she has finally calmed down. She still lives with the Chou family and barely causes any trouble now. She's doing well in art school and is still dating Mina in secret.
What about ImTech? Well, ImTech does not exist anymore. Just like how Mr. Cheong promised, he took down the company and merged it into CheongTech. It took him some time to finally attack, but in the end he managed to do it.
You're probably wondering what happened to Y/N and Nayeon, right? Well they are still taking the space that they need. They never knew that it would take them so long but turns out their relationship was more damaged than they thought. They're still reflecting on their past and on their mistakes.
Both of them had some dating opportunities. Of course they would. They're both attractive and succesful. It's hard not to want them but nothing worked out for either of them. It seems like they keep looking for each other in other people and that's impossoble. You can never find the exact same person.
In the past year they met a few times at bussiness meetings or conferences and they didn't completely ignore each other but they were also not friendly. There was this huge distance between them, which is normal.
"Unnie we should throw a party." Tzuyu suddenly suggested while they were working.
"A party? What for?" Y/N questioned.
"All big companies throw parties for their achievements but we never do. Just look at it, unnie. Look how much Chou Holdings has achieved. No one thought that it would survive but here we are stronger than ever. That's why we should throw a party and show them that we're back and that they can't bring us down." Tzuyu explained.
"You know that I don't want to draw any attention, Tzuyu-yah. Our stock prices speak for themselves. No need to throw a celebration party." Y/N has never liked that kind of parties and never will. Everyone acts as they are happy for you when they're not. Deep down they're jealous and they wish that they could have the same thing as you.
"Please, unnie. This will really benefit us. Don't you hate that they keep looking down on us?"
"I do."
"Then let's do it. You don't have to take care of anything, I'll do it. I'll take care of everything." Tzuyu pointed at herself.
"You really want to do this huh?" Y/N raised her eyebrows to which Tzuyu nodded.
"Fine. I'll let you do it, but nothing too big Tzuyu-yah. I'm trusting you."
"Yess, thank you unnie!" Tzuyu suddenly stood up and hugged Y/N.
"Wow, what's going on here?" Jihyo walked in smiling. Jihyo comes to the company from time to time. Turns out that Jihyo has a great mind for bussiness so she helps out sometimes. Y/N has tried to convince her to join the company. She even told her that she'll give her an important position but Jihyo declined. Even though she's good at it, she still prefers to be a nurse so she'll continue to do that.
"We're throwing a party." Tzuyu said in excitement.
"Since when do you like parties?" Jihyo asked. Tzuyu isn't the type to like parties either.
"I don't, I'm just excited to show the world what Chou Holdings stands for."
"And you agreed?'" Jihyo asked her half-sister.
"Yeah, it might be a good thing." Y/N might be cold but when it comes to her family, she can never say no.
"I should go and start preparing for it. There's so many things to do." Tzuyu walked out of the room.
"I've never seen her this excited." Jihyo chuckled.
"We went through a lot and when she was younger, she was pretty affected by people looking down on us. I guess this is her way of dealing with it." Y/N sighed.
"I think so too. By the way I saw Nayeon today." Jihyo revealed. It's been a while since Y/N has talked about her so Jihyo was curious on how she'd react.
"Oh you did?"
"Yeah, we talked for a bit. Her company is doing well for a start-up." Y/N might not be talking to Nayeon right now but Tzuyu and Jihyo are. Nayeon felt bad towards everyone in Y/N's family so she apologized to all of them. Jihyo and Tzuyu forgave her after some time and now they talk from time to time. They're not really friends but they're not enemies either. As for Chaeyoung, she still doesn't like Nayeon.
"Yeah, I saw. I'm glad she's doing well on her own now." Y/N admitted. It's good to see that Nayeon can stand on her own feet without her family's and Y/N's help. Y/N always knew that Nayeon is capable of leading a company, just not ImTech.
"Have you talked to her? I mean what's the deal with you two?" Jihyo asked in curiosity.
"We haven't talked ever since that day." Y/N looked down. At this point she still doesn't know if she's ready to let Nayeon back in her life. But she stands behind what she said that day. If they were really meant to be, they'll find a way back to each other.
"Didn't she try to talk to you?" Knowing Nayeon, she wouldn't give up so easily to win Y/N back but it seems like she's not doing anything.
"We talked for a bit the last time I saw her at the conference but it was purely professional. We agreed to keep it that way."
Jihyo nodded. "Unnie, if it bothers you that me and Tzuyu keep in touch with her then please tell us so we can stop. We don't want to hurt you."
"I already told you this before, Jihyo-yah. I don't mind. I may have history with her and we may have hurt each other deeply but she's not a bad person." The CEO is actually glad that Nayeon has Tzuyu and Jihyo by her side right now. Nayeon has no one to lean on and everyone around her betrayed her, so it's a good thing that Tzuyu and Jihyo keep in touch with her.
"Okay, but the moment it bothers you, you'll tell us, right?"
"Yes, I will. No worries." Y/N gave her a reassuring smile.
The next few days Tzuyu was very busy with preparations for the party. Even though Y/N told her that she can choose everything herself, she still asks Y/N's opinion about everything, such as the venue, catering and things like that. This is the first time that she has such a huge responsibility and she doesn't want to dissapoint her older sister.
"Unnie, I have the guest list here. Do you want to see it?" Tzuyu asked.
"I'm sure you know who to invite and who not."
"I put some names on the list that you might not like." Tzuyu said in worry. She hopes Y/N won't be mad for putting them on the list. "I'm not sending out any invitations without your consent."
"Who are these names that I might not like?" Y/N furrowed her eyebrows.
"Well, there are only two. You'll be okay with the others."
"Get to the point, Tzuyu-yah."
"I put Sana on the list." Tzuyu revealed. "I didn't want to send an invitation without telling you."
"That's okay, send out the inviation. After all she helped us quite a lot. She deserves to get invited." Ever since Sana revealed her feelings for Y/N, there has been a distance between them. They've come face to face a couple of times and they even talked but it's not like before. It seems like Sana is still affected by the rejection and since Y/N doesn't want to hurt the lawyer she decided to distance herself from her.
"Okay. If you say so." Tzuyu nodded.
"Who's this second person?"
"Im Nayeon." Y/N looked up hearing that name. She should have known. "She's the reason for the scandal. We can clear everything up by inviting her. The press needs to see that there's no bad blood between you anymore."
Y/N didn't answer for about a minute. Inviting Nayeon will mean that she's going to see her again and she doesn't know if she's ready for that. She hasn't seen Nayeon in like three months and the last time she saw her, it was quite awkward.
"Unnie?" Tzuyu spoke up after the silence.
"Invite her."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. You're right, it'll be good for our reputation." Even though a year has passed people still ask her about the scandal with Nayeon. This might be a good way to finally make them stop asking about it. It should just stop for once and all.
------------------------------
"Ms. Im, here are the files that you asked for." Momo handed Nayeon some files.
"Momo-yah, I told you to call me just Nayeon from now on." After everything Momo is the only one that stood by Nayeon's side. Now that Nayeon has a new company, she got a new assistant and gave Momo the manager position. She needs someone trustworthy for that position and Momo is the perfect person for that.
"I can't help it, I'm sorry." Momo chuckled. She keeps forgetting it. "Also you got an invitation."
"Invitation? What for?" Nayeon questioned while Momo placed the invitation on her boss's desk.
"Chou Holdings is throwing a party. They send you an invitation as well." Nayeon looked closer at the invitation and was surprised to see that it was indeed from Chou Holdings. Why are they inviting her?
"This is surprising." Nayeon widened her eyes.
"I heard that Ms. Tzuyu is taking care of everything." Momo informed.
"So she's the one who send out the invitations?"
"Probably, yeah." Momo nodded. Nayeon became a bit sad upon hearing that. She was hoping that Y/N send out the invitation but turns out it was Tzuyu.
"Will you go?"
"I don't know, Momo-yah. I wasn't expecting this at all." Nayeon knows Y/N well. She knows that Y/N doesn't like to draw attention, so it's surprising that Chou Holdings is holding a party to celebrate their achievements. Someone must have convinced Y/N.
"Why are they even inviting me after everything?" Nayeon wondered.
"Maybe Y/N is done taking her space?"
"I don't think so. Even if that's the case she won't contact me. We agreed to let things just flow and not force anything. Besides I'm pretty sure she has someone else by now." Nayeon looked down. Y/N has been in the headlines a lot lately. There are rumours that she's dating someone right now.
"I think you should go. You haven't showed up anywhere since starting your own company. You can use this chance to get your name back out there. Chou Holdings is a huge company, just by going to the party you can gain a lot of attention from it." Momo stated.
"You're right, I'm going to have to think about it."
-------------------------------
About two weeks have passed and the party is finally taking place tonight. Tzuyu had to prepare 24/7 in order for everything to be perfect. Of course she didn't do it all by herself. Y/N, Dahyun and Jihyo helped her out. Y/N is quite impressed with her younger sister. Tzuyu did a very well job and she wouldn't have done it any differently. But what do you expect? After all Tzuyu learned everything from Y/N. It's only normal for them to have the same ways of doing business.
"Shit, we only have an hour left. There's no way we'll get everything ready until the guests arrive." Tzuyu worried.
"Tzuyu-yah, relax. We'll get it done, no worries." Y/N patted her back.
"I'm sorry, I just want everything to go well. I am the one who wanted this, so I should impress you."
"You already impressed me. You did a good job and I'm sure everything will go well. Nothing can go wrong, at least not in my presence." Y/N caressed Tzuyu's arm.
"I hate to interrupt you guys but we have a problem." Jihyo and Chaeyoung approached them.
"What's wrong?" Y/N asked.
"Turns out that they wrote the wrong timing on the invitations. The guests should be arriving any minute."
"What? How is that possible? I even checked it twice." Tzuyu is starting to get stressed out.
"Looks like the first guests are coming." Chaeyoung pointed to the door.
"The preparations are not done yet. What are we going to do, unnie?" Tzuyu asked Y/N.
"Jihyo and Chaeyoung go help mom and dad to fasten the process. Tzuyu and I will greet the guests." Y/N suggested.
"Okay, let's go Chaeyoung-ah." Jihyo and Chaeyoung left, leaving Y/N and Tzuyu behind.
The first guests arrived and Y/N and Tzuyu welcomed all of them one by one. Both Y/N and Tzuyu are very polite and charming so it's not hard to like them.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Myoui." They greeted Mina and her parents.
"I never would have expected for you to throw a party but it looks absolutely amazing." Mr. Myoui complimented.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Myoui." Y/N thanked them.
"Please make yourselves comfortable." Tzuyu smiled and the couple left with Mina right behind them.
"Where's Chaeyoung?" Mina asked when there was some distance between her and her parents.
"She's inside. I'm sure she'll find you." Y/N assured and with that Mina left as well. Not long after, Sana showed up as well. She didn't bring along her parents because they got divorced after the scandal of Mrs. Minatozaki with Mr. Im. Now both her parents are ashamed to show themselves in big crowds. Her mom because she cheated and her dad because he got cheated on.
"Welcome, Sana-ssi." Tzuyu gave Sana a small hug. After the two released themselves from the hug, Sana came face to face with Y/N.
"Welcome." Y/N smiled weakly. Sana didn't answer and instead hugged Y/N. The CEO was expecting this since all the guests hugged her, but this hug was different. Sana hugged her tightly which made Y/N close her eyes. Of course Y/N has missed Sana. After all the two spend some time together and they deeply care for each other. Y/N really hates the fact that she can't return Sana's feelings. Sana might be a bitch to everyone else but she treated Y/N very well.
Sana pulled away quickly realizing that they're in public. She smiled weakly and locked eyes with Y/N. Seeing the hurt in Sana's eyes, Y/N felt guilty. More than a year has passed and Sana's feelings have faded but the moment she saw Y/N again, her heart ached. Sana was a known playgirl, well she still is but Y/N actually managed to make her fall for her. A woman that never falls in love and just hates the thought of it, fell for Chou Y/N.
"Make yourself comfortable." Y/N told her.
"I will, thank you." Sana smiled and left the scene.
"Well, that was awkward." Tzuyu stated.
"I think she hates me."
"She doesn't, she's just hurt. You shouldn't have been so cold to her after rejecting her."
"I know." Y/N sighed. She has rejected a lot of people before but never someone close to her. She was cold as ice towards Sana after everything and she regrets that now. She should have been comforting her instead of ignoring her. But you can't blame her. All she wanted was for Sana to not get hurt, but in the end no matter what Y/N did, she would still get hurt.
Just when Y/N was thinking about Sana, Nayeon showed up. The moment Nayeon saw Y/N her heart started to race and nervousness started kicking in. Even after barely talking for a year, Y/N still has the same effect on her. The CEO looks absoulutely beautiful in Nayeon's eyes and it's hard to not look at her.
The two locked eyes and Y/N is hoping that it won't be as awkward as the last time they came face to face.
"Hello, Nayeon-ssi." Tzuyu spoke up first realizing that neither Nayeon or Y/N would.
"Hi, thanks for inviting me." Nayeon smiled and hugged Tzuyu first. After hugging Tzuyu, she found herself right in front of Y/N. The two looked at each other for a few seconds before Y/N said something.
"Welcome, please make yourself comfortable." Y/N smiled weakly to which Nayeon nodded.
"I will. I'll join Mina right there." Nayeon stated and left the two behind. She really wanted to hug Y/N as well, but something was stopping her. She respects the decision of Y/N wanting space and she doesn't want to cross any boundaries. Hugging each other might be too much.
More guests kept entering and the supposed small party actually became a big one. There are at least 30 reporters in front of the venue and everyone is dressed very well. It looks like a typical rich people party, which Y/N never really liked.
"Why did you invite so many people?" The CEO asked her sister.
"I honestly didn't think they would all come." Tzuyu did invite quite some people but she thought that about 30% wouldn't show up but in the end only 5% didn't show up.
The party was going well though. Even though Tzuyu is stressed out, everything was going smoothly.
"Let's go to Mina and Nayeon." Jihyo pulled Y/N with her without even waiting for her to answer.
"Hi girls." Jihyo greeted them with a smile.
"Hey." They both answered.
"What are we doing here?" Y/N whispered to Jihyo. Luckily they stand a bit far from Nayeon and Mina and the music prevents them from hearing each other.
"Talk to Nayeon. You can't keep running from her besides people need to see that there's no bad blood."
"But..." Y/N wanted to protest but before she could, Jihyo spoke up.
"Mina-sii, let's go find Chaeyoung." She grabbed Mina's arm and left the ex-girlfriends behind.
The moment the two left, the awkwardness came back again. Y/N badly wants to escape this situation but she knows Jihyo is right. She can't keep running away from Nayeon. It's clear that no matter what she does, she'll always meet Nayeon back again somewhere.
"How are you?" Y/N decided to ask while she went closer to Nayeon.
"I'm fine, you?"
"Me too. Your company is doing well. I'm proud of you." Y/N blurted out which brought a huge smile on Nayeon's face. Nayeon has never heard someone say those words to her and hearing Y/N say that makes her feel happy. She knows that Y/N means it.
"Thank you, Y/N-ssi." Nayeon blushed and looked down. It looks like they are teenagers who are scared to acknowledge their feelings for each other.
The two continued to talk for a few minutes but it was mostly about business. They didn't dare to bring up their past in the conversation. Even though the convesation was held short, it was the longest conversation they had in a year.
People saw them talking and smiling to each other, so it should be enough to finally show the world that there's no bad blood between them. The questions about the scandal should stop from now on.
The party ended and it seems like everyone is satisfied. Everything went as planned and it will surely be the talk of the town for at least a week.
Everyone left by now and the only ones that are left are Y/N, Tzuyu and Jihyo. They wrapped everything up and made the nessecary payments. When they walked out of the venue it was already late, so reporters and such were already gone. However someone caught Y/N's eyes in the distance. It looks like it's Nayeon but she isn't sure.
"Unnie, are you coming?" Jihyo asked interrupting Y/N's thoughts.
"You two go. I forgot something, I'll come right after you." She stated and the two younger girls nodded leaving Y/N behind.
Y/N decided to go closer to the woman and her guess is right. It was Nayeon.
"Nayeon? Why are you still here?" Y/N asked. Nayeon didn't expect for Y/N to approach her.
"I'm waiting for a cab."
"Where's your car?"
"I don't have one right now." Nayeon needed a lot of money to start up her company so she had to sell her expensive car and she still hasn't bought a new one.
"Oh. How long have you been waiting?"
"About 20 minutes."
"Let me take you home." It might be a bad idea, but Y/N can't just leave Nayeon behind like this. It's late and after 20 minutes there's still no cab.
The party actually ended two hours ago, so why is Nayeon even still here? Y/N decided to just shrug it off.
"You don't have to. I'll just wait." Nayeon shook her head.
"Please, Nayeon-ah. I can't leave you behind like this. It's late and not safe." When the two locked eyes, Nayeon gave in. She followed Y/N to her car and the two entered.
"Same adres?"
"Yeah." Nayeon nodded and an awkward silence followed afterwards. Both don't know what to say and they also don't know how to feel. Seeing each other again just confuses them even more. Did they get the space that they needed? Are they ready to walk into each other's lives again? Both are questions that they don't know the answer to.
"You got a new car." Nayeon stated. Y/N has a few cars, but Nayeon has never seen this one. It must be new.
"Yeah, it's a Ferrari SF90."
"It's nice."
"Thank you." Y/N said weakly.
"Are you really dating someone? Everyone was talking about you having a secret relationship." Nayeon asked. She kept hearing people talk about it at the party and it's making her sad. Because if it is true, it'll mean that Y/N has moved on and that she'll have no chance with her anymore.
"It's not true. I don't know why there's a rumor like that." The CEO stated and Nayeon felt a huge relief.
After a few minutes they arrived at Nayeon's appartment.
"Thank you for the ride."
"No problem." The CEO smiled weakly and Nayeon nodded exiting the car.
"Nayeon-ssi?"
"Yes?" She turned to Y/N before leaving.
"Take care."
"You too." Nayeon said and she doesn't know why but it made her heart ache. She knows that she still has feelings for Y/N. No matter how hard she tries, she can't get rid of them. She badly wants to see Y/N again, but the next time might be after several months or maybe even years. So she shouldn't get her hopes up.
--------------------------
A week has passed and just like how Y/N expected, the party became the talk of the town. Everyone is pretty impressed by it and they keep praising the Chou sisters, not only for the party but also for their achievements. After the scandal everyone expected for the company to go bankrupt but Y/N managed to prove them wrong by working 24/7. Now the company is even more succesful than before.
Since Y/N has been very busy lately, she couldn't visit her birth mother at the cemetry. In the beginning it was hard for her to accept that her birth mother is dead but now she has accepted it and she goes to visit her whenever she can and that's what she'll do today.
She bought some flowers and made her way to the cemetry. When she arrived she smiled looking at Mrs. Park's name and put the flowers next to it. She kneeled down in front of the grave and stood there in silence for a few minutes. It's what she always does.
"I wish you were still alive. Maybe you would have told me that you're my birth mother and maybe you would have been proud of me." Y/N sighed to herself.
"I'm sure she is proud of you." A voice said from behind and Y/N turned around to see her ex-girlfriend.
"Nayeon? What are you doing here?" Has she been following her? How did she know that Y/N was here? Or did they just meet by coincidence?
"I come here from time to time." Nayeon approached the grave and kneeled down next to Y/N. "I come here to ask her for forgiveness."
"Forgiveness?" The CEO furrowed her eyebrows. What is Nayeon talking about?
"I feel guilty towards her. My family killed her and her husband. And I... I hurt her daughter. That's why I come here from time to time to ask her to forgive me." Y/N was quite surprised to hear that and honestly it melted her heart. It seems like Nayeon has been coming here more than she has.
"Do you think she can hear us?" Y/N questioned.
"I think so. That's why I keep coming here. To fix my family's wrong doings and mine as well."
"You didn't have to."
"I did, Y/N. I can't live with myself if I don't." Nayeon admitted.
"How has this past year been for you?" For the first time ever since they decided to take space, Y/N asks something about Nayeon herself.
"It's been hard but you were right, space did me good. How about you?"
"Same." Y/N looked down.
"Do you think..." Nayeon paused hesitating wether or not to ask the question in her mind. "You got enough space?"
Y/N didn't answer immediately which worried Nayeon. What if Y/N says no? How long is she going to have to wait for Y/N to be finally ready? Or what if Y/N decided that she doesn't want Nayeon in her life anymore? One thing is for sure and that is that Nayeon is done taking her space. She reflected on her past and mistakes and she learned a lot from them. She knows she's ready to let Y/N back in, but what about Y/N?
"I don't even know you." Y/N said after a short silence.
"W-what?"
"I don't think we've met before. I'm Chou Y/N and you are?" Y/N turned her gaze towards Nayeon. Nayeon was confused and didn't know what to say at first but hearing Y/N say this she bit her bottom lip to prevent her from smiling. Does this mean what she thinks it means?
"I'm Im Nayeon."
"Nice to meet you." Y/N smiled and extended her hand for a hand shake. Nayeon looked at it before accepting the hand shake.
"Nice to meet you, Chou Y/N." Nayeon smiled widely at Y/N which Y/N mirrored.
And that's how the two decided to start from zero. When Y/N said that they would give it a shot if they meet again this was what she meant. No matter how hard they try to ignore each other, they always find a way back to one another.
So they start from the beginning, acting like they've never met before. Leaving their past behind them like nothing ever happened. Of course they'll never forget what happened but taking their space helped them to have peace with their past and their mistakes. That's how they can start at a clean state.
Both are prepared to work for this since there are still feelings involved. But only the future will tell if they'll succeed. Wether they stay friends or become lovers again that's up to the universe. But one thing is for sure and that is that they will give their everything to try to rebuild their relationship. After all they were meant to meet and stay in each other's lives.
The end...
