Chapter 8

Jin is furious. How did Nayeon manage to convince Y/N to invest? This makes no sense. His blood is really boiling right now. If this project actually becomes successful then that means that Nayeon is one step ahead of him, which he can't let happen.

"How the hell did you do that?" He grabbed his sister by her arm after everyone left the office.

"Are you jealous, oppa? You should've trusted me a bit more you know. Didn't I tell you that I would succeed?"

"There's no way that you'll succeed. You're not capable of doing that." He started laughing.

"Just watch me." Nayeon said as she freed herself from his grip.

"I don't know what you did to convince her but I'm sure there's something behind it. I will find out, Nayeon-ah. I'm not letting you get away with this." He smirked.

"I didn't do anything. It's time you start accepting that your little sister is better than you." She smiled and walked out of the office.

"Aish!" Jin yelled in frustration and hit one of the chairs.

"Momo-yah, I did it! My project got accepted!" Nayeon squealed in happiness once she got into her own office.

"You really did a great job, Nayeon-ssi. I'm sure it'll be very successful." Momo smiled.

"Ah of course it will be. I have Chou Y/N as my investor." Nayeon clapped her hands and right at that moment a knock was heard on the door.

"Can you open it, Momo-yah?" Nayeon asked and Momo opened it as she was told.

"Sorry for disturbing, I need to hand you some files Ms. Im." Jeongyeon walked into the room.

"Ah sit, please, Ms. Yoo. Momo you can leave for now."

"Your dad told me to give you these. It's about the project." Jeongyeon handed her the files.

"Ah, I can't believe we're already starting on it." Nayeon shook her head.

"I'm very impressed with you. Rumor was going around that you already had failed."

"I'm full of surprises, Jeongyeon-ah. You should know that."

"Of course I know. You were also like that back in college. Always doing the unexpected." Jeongyeon chuckled.

"I know right." Nayeon said proudly.

"How did you convince her though? Did you use one of your tricks on her?" Jeongyeon joked.

"Yah, of course not!"

"Then what did you do? I mean she was so persistent on not investing."

"She was yeah. It took me weeks to finally convince her but I managed to do it in the end." Nayeon remembered.

"How did you even change the project so quickly in such a short time? Not to mention it's literally perfect. Even your dad couldn't find anything wrong with it."

"Well, don't tell anyone but Chou Y/N helped me quite a lot."

"She did? Why would she do that?" Jeongyeon is confused.

"It was her condition. She said she would only invest if I let her help me adjust it."

"Ow that makes sense now."

"But don't tell anyone, okay? No one can know about this." Nayeon pleaded.

"Of course not. I'm your friend after all." Jeongyeon assured her.

"Y/N-ssi? Sorry for calling but I wanted to ask you if you're free tonight? Around 8pm?" Nayeon decided to call Y/N.

"Yeah, I have some time. What for?"

"Let me treat you to dinner as a thank you gift for helping me out." Nayeon just wants to thank her. Y/N is the reason why her project got accepted after all but then again she's also the one who made it harder than it was. Still, she needs to be on Y/N's good side if she wants to succeed.

"Okay. That sounds good."

"I'll text you the location." Nayeon smiled.

"How about I pick where we'll eat?"

"O-okay, it doesn't really matter where we go to."

"Great, then I'll send you the location." Y/N informed.

"See you later, Y/N-ssi." With that the two hung up. After about two hours Nayeon got a text with the location in it. The location is actually near Han River so luckily it didn't take her long to arrive.

"I hope I didn't make you wait."

"No, no. I just arrived here as well." Y/N shook her head.

"Uhm, so where are we eating?" Nayeon is confused. She doesn't see a decent restaurant anywhere near.

"Here." Y/N gestured to a place behind Nayeon and Nayeon wasn't pleased at all. She thought they were going to some big restaurant not to a small cheap restaurant.

"You're kidding me right?" Nayeon chuckled.

"They have the best kimchi stew here." Y/N smiled but Nayeon just glared at her.

"I know you're not liking this but try to be open minded. You won't regret it. Just like how you didn't regret eating that ramen." Y/N reminded her.

"Ugh, fine." Nayeon sighed. She needs to remind herself to stay polite.

"Let's sit here." Y/N said when they walked in and they sat at a small table. There are actually more people present than Nayeon thought there would be.

"Y/N-ah, it's been a while!" The woman who probably owns the restaurant came towards them.

"How are you ahjumma?" Y/N smiled.

"I'm great. I see you brought a girl with you this time, huh." The woman teased her.

"Don't embarrass me in front of my guest, Mrs. Park." Y/N joked. Nayeon is just watching the two talk. Who is this old woman?

"You know our Y/N here has been coming here ever since she was little." The woman said looking at Nayeon.

"Oh really? Then she must really like your food."

"I'm forever thankful for Y/N. We almost had to shut down a couple of years ago but Y/N helped us out." The woman informed.

"I told you not to mention that. I was just paying you back, remember?" Y/N reminded her.

"Whatever you say Y/N. So what can I get you two girls?"

"We'll get some kimchi stew and oh also ramyeon. She likes ramyeon." Y/N glanced at Nayeon.

"We'll also take some soju." Y/N added.

"Jihyo-yah! Bring some soju to Y/N and her friend." The woman ordered to the girl who was behind her.

"Oh, Y/N-ssi. Finally decided to show up huh?" Jihyo asked.

"I didn't know you were still working here. Shouldn't a nurse like you be working in the hospital?" Y/N questioned. Nayeon is just listening to them speak. Y/N sounds like she's close to them but why is she close to low-class people like them? Nayeon doesn't understand it. And why does she keep eating low quality food like this? It's not like she isn't a billionaire that could pay for much more.

"I also keep telling her that, but no, she insists on helping me out in the evenings." Mrs. Park said.

"Here is your food and your soju. Enjoy." Jihyo said after she placed them on the table.

"Thank you Jihyo-yah."

"Grandma stop bothering them and help me out." Jihyo grabbed her arm and the two went to other customers which made Y/N smile.

"Now try it. I'm sure you'll like it." Y/N said as she poured both of them some soju. Nayeon does admit that the food smells very good.

"And?" Y/N is waiting for Nayeon to give a reaction after she tried the kimchi stew.

"It's good."

"I knew it!" Y/N exclaimed proudly.

"You know, I'm starting to think that you only eat cheap food." Nayeon chuckled.

"It isn't cheap food, it's just normal food. Most people eat these kind of things. Except for rich people like you."

"You're saying that as if you aren't a billionaire." Nayeon said drinking her soju.

"You have a point there, Nayeon-ssi." Y/N nodded.

"This ramyeon is delicious." Nayeon suddenly stated.

"I'm glad you like it. I wouldn't have brought you here if I didn't know that."

"You're weird, Y/N-ssi." Nayeon shook her head.

"Why's that?" Y/N slurped some of her ramyeon.

"We're business partners now and others would have tried to impress me by taking me to some expensive restaurant but you? You take me to a cheap one. You do the opposite of what rich people would do." Y/N is quite unique. Her whole family is. Nayeon has heard rumors about how weird the Chou family is. They were always seen as outcasts because they don't act like they're rich even though they're billionaires.

"Where were you planning on taking me?" Y/N grew curious.

"The opposite of this restaurant."

"So a very expensive one?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"Yeah, those are just normal prices for us Y/N-ssi." Nayeon chuckled.

"You wouldn't be as comfortable there as you are here. No one is bothering us here, no one is taking pictures, no one is trying to kiss our ass. We're just having dinner in peace. Is that enough reasoning on why I don't like going to expensive restaurants?" Y/N asked and Nayeon now understands the CEO. She's actually right. No one cares about them at a place like this even though they all know who they are. They can just eat in peace here while in restaurants that rich people go to everyone will talk about them and they will start gossiping about how Im Nayeon had dinner with Chou Y/N.

"You sound like someone that values their privacy a lot." Nayeon noticed.

"Yes, I do. It may sound weird but I don't like attention that much."

"It is weird for someone that gets all the attention in the world." Nayeon took a sip from her soju.

"Don't exaggerate Nayeon-ssi. I don't get that much attention." Y/N chuckled.

"Yeah you do. I guess you don't know how high your popularity is."

"We should order more ramyeon." Y/N suggested when she saw how Nayeon finished hers already.

"Jihyo-yah! Can you get us more ramyeon?"

"Sure, Y/N-ah." The girl said. Nayeon was surprised by how that Jihyo girl talked informally to Y/N. She has never heard someone talk informally to her other than her sister.

"What did you mean by paying her back a while ago?" Nayeon's curiosity on Y/N just grows everyday. She's mysterious and that attracts Nayeon very much.

"Oh she just gives me a lot of free food, so I helped them out when I heard that they had to shut down business."

"That explains why this place is so popular despite it being cheap, huh." Nayeon chuckled and a short silence was followed afterwards.

"The reason why I asked you to have dinner with me is so I could thank you. You really saved the project." Nayeon looked down. She isn't used to thanking people.

"I'm just glad that the project isn't cancelled. I guess the news of the project will be released tomorrow, right?"

"Yeah, around noon." Nayeon informed and Y/N smiled.

"Both ImTech and Chou holdings stock prices will rise after the news gets released. I wouldn't have been an investor if I didn't know that beforehand." The CEO informed.

"How do you even predict everything so correctly? I heard that you never have been wrong about investments and stock prices." People aren't lying when they say that Y/N is a mastermind. Her predictions are always correct.

"I guess it's a gift?" Y/N chuckled and Nayeon just shook her head smiling. Y/N is so charming that she needs to remind herself that Y/N is just her investor nothing else.

"If you're done eating, we should leave." Nayeon suggested. It's getting late and she's still tired since she barely has slept in the past few days.

"Yeah, we should. Jihyo-yah could we get the bill?" Y/N asked.

"Yes, here it is." Jihyo put the bill on the table and Y/N was about to pay but Nayeon stopped her by touching the CEO's hand.

"I told you that I was going to treat you."

"But you treated me last time." Y/N protested.

"That was different. Just let me pay. You'll pay next time." Nayeon said and regretted saying the last sentence since she saw how Y/N's look changed.

"I-I mean if we happen to have a business dinner or something." Nayeon tried to save herself out of it.

"Okay, you can pay if you insist. I'll just go say goodbye to Mrs. Park in the meanwhile." Y/N said standing up.

"So how much is it?" Nayeon asked Jihyo.

"It's 34.000 won." Jihyo smiled. 34.000 won? They ate so much but she only has to pay 34.000 won? She would have had to pay 115.000 won if they went to the restaurant where she was originally planning on going to.

"Euhm miss you forgot your change." Jihyo said going after Nayeon who was going to wait for Y/N in front of the restaurant.

"Keep it." Nayeon smiled. She put 50.000 won on the table instead of 34.000 won. These people seem to be important to Y/N. She needs to be on the good side of all the people that Y/N cares about.

"Oh thank you." Jihyo said and went back to her grandmother who was talking to Y/N.

"Who is that girl actually?" Mrs. Park asked.

"She's just a business partner."

"You really brought your business partner here?" Jihyo laughed.

"Yeah, what's wrong with that?"

"Everyone knows how spoiled Im Nayeon is. She definitely cursed you out in her mind."

"She's not as bad as the media portrays her to be." She's still spoiled but less than Y/N thought she would be.

"Anyways, I should go now. I'll visit sometime again grandma." Y/N hugged the woman. "Jihyo, will you show me out?"

"Yeah sure." Jihyo agreed and the two walked away.

"How's your grandma's condition?"

"It's getting worse and she's refusing me to help her." Jihyo said sadly.

"I'll come back here and I'll take care of it. Don't you worry too much. She'll be okay, I promise." Y/N caressed Jihyo's arm as the girl nodded. Mrs. Park is very sick but she refuses to get treated.

"You're letting Nayeon-ssi wait too much. She doesn't look like someone patient." Jihyo reminded her.

"Yeah, you're right. I should go now. See you later, Jihyo-yah!" Y/N yelled and left the restaurant. There she saw Nayeon waiting for her.

"Thank you for dinner, Nayeon-ssi."

"Thank you for agreeing to it." Nayeon fake smiled. She was almost going to lose her mind by waiting for her. It was only 5 minutes but still, it's too long for Ms. Im Nayeon. No one makes her wait like this.

"I'll see you at the investor meeting, right?" Y/N asked.

"Yeah, see you then Y/N-ssi." Nayeon was about to walk to her car but got interrupted.

"Wait, Nayeon-ssi..." Y/N approached her.

"Yes?"

"A lot of people will try to bring you down now that you're leading a big project. Keep your eyes wide open and don't trust anyone." Y/N suddenly said confusing Nayeon.

"Why are you telling me this?"

"Because I know how it's like. People in this industry are cruel, you'll get hurt if you don't watch your back." Y/N informed as she raised her eyebrows. This project just can't fail.

"Don't worry Y/N-ssi, I'll handle it." Nayeon assured her. Nayeon doesn't know why Y/N suddenly said that to her but it kind of melted her heart the way Y/N worried about her.

"Call me if you need help, Nayeon-ssi." The CEO bid her goodbyes and both of them got in their cars and left.
