Chapter 33

Bittersweet

Anima Lunae

You are solace-

in the haze of uncertainty;

The lulling depth of a chasm-

in the glinting sea.

You are the lilt of a tongue-

I cannot place;

A heathen's chant-

sung with Godly grace.

You are an alcoholic rapture-

before the gut takes a plunge;

A cherub's mead-

with a poisonous touch.

You are an artless crime;

Death be the retribute.

I, the glad halfwit-

to kiss the twisted noose.

On that blessed day,

my wounds bled wine-

when the thorn that pricked you,

was from a rose of mine.
