"My mom told me as I get older, I'll find my way in this world. Whether it's by force or common knowledge." Elowen ate on her popcorn and listened. She knew better than to think they were going to the drive in just to watch a movie. Philip could never keep his mouth closed for too long. "Well I think I found mine. At seventeen years old, it's not common."
She looked away from the screen to stare at her boyfriend who sat uncomfortably still in the drivers seat. He was staring straight ahead but not at the flick. Just his inner thoughts.
"What do you mean?" She asked softly. "What way are you finding?"
"College for me is after next year. I'll be going in for business then doing something my hearts always wanted me to do. I know I'll be thinking about you the entire time. Even if I do find someone else. I'll still be thinking about you."
"College... is it something you're excited about?"
Elowen didn't ask because she was curious. She asked because it's something she's never thought about. She never had a dream job or a dream future. She took life as it was given to her and that's what she went with. Now she sat here and listened to Philip talk about the field he wanted to take. So she asked herself... what does she want to do?
"Yeah, I guess. It's always been a rule growing up. Go to college and be successful. There was no in between. There was no choice. I guess that's me finding my path... by force."
"Why are we talking about this now? The climax is about to show on the screen." She pointed gleefully. "Look!"
Philip gawked at her behavior which caused her to look him in the eyes once again. "You're such a kid. I'm talking to you seriously and you wanna watch a movie?" Elowen gulped. "Freshman and their simple minds. Embarrassing." He threw his car door open which caused elowen to jump. "I need more pop. You want something?"
"No..." with that, he left and Elowen was alone. The horror movie blaring before her eyes. The kids on screen were being murdered one by one in the woods. Philip parked his car off in the dark corner which didn't help Elowen's sudden fear of dying a painful death.
She waited painfully for about ten minutes and grew worried. Using Philip's jacket, she covered her skin from the nights cool air. She then left in search for him. To her surprise he was still at the food booth but talking to Joey, Cindy, and Kaitlyn.
"Hey~ Elowen." Cindy smiled sideways at her. "Funny that the both of you are here. Lady I heard you and Philip weren't even on talking terms."
She started to sound more and more like Kaitlyn as the days passed. So intrusive on everyone's lives and had to be the first to know everything. Her feelings towards Cindy began to shift the moment she heard they threw a party and invited Philip because he told everyone he was on the dating scene.
"But it doesn't shock me 'cause Philip had girls falling to his feet left and right and rejected all of them." Kaitlyn commented with a slight pout. "You come crawling back because she finally let you inside the her unbroken box?"
Elowen almost threw up at the thought of Kaitlyn knowing she is still a virgin. She also couldn't believe Philip told them especially when he made a big deal about a letter going around. When they decided to keep their relationship private Elowen never spoke a word about Philip unless to tell people they were no longer talking.
As for Philip, he's only been bad mouthing her to make himself look better.
"It's her birthday you guys. You can relax and let us breathe for one night."
Joey slapped Philip's back with joy. "Fuck that Philly! You're all glowing and shit. She's got you whining to get back to the hog. I know Kaitlyn is on to something." The girls giggled behind him. Elowen closed her legs a little tighter.
"I'm not glowing. This is sweat from having a frustrating conversation with you guys." Philip's voice started getting strained as his nerves rode to the sky. "It's Elowen's fucking birthday. Just congratulate her and let me get my pop!"
Joey raised his hands in surrender then stepped to the side. He then turned to Elowen and burped in her face. The stench of beer was strong. "Happy birthday, Elowen. And if you two are back together, yikes."
Cindy pushed him out the way and shot Elowen a death glare. "What the hell were you thinking? He hit you."
"And he apologized," Elowen defended. "And he's been so sweet to me since. Sayin all these nice things. He's told me he's loved me forever and he always choosin me."
Cindy shook her head in disgust. "He's told me that too." Elowen's heart fell to her feet. She almost unclenched his jacket from her fist just so it could hit the mud. But something told her to hold on. "He does whatever to get what he wants. You're so young and stupid you don't even know."
"Cindy! Come on! We're missing everything." kaitlyn pulled her friend by her shoulder which inevitably broke Cindy from her position in front of Elowen. "Let the two lovers be lovers."
Philip returned just as his friends left. He bought Elowen a pop anyway despite her telling him she was fine with nothing. "Let's get back to the car." He grabbed her hand and pulled her away. Elowen forced her hand back which left Philip stunned. "Elo, lets go."
"I'm ready," she breathed out. A sudden splurge of adrenaline coursed through her veins and she knew she couldn't take it back. "I'm ready to... do it with you."
Philip almost dropped his drinks as he stared his girlfriend right in the eyes. "Okay... quit kidding me and get back to the car. Even if we were going to do it we would go to jail if we did it here."
Elowen nodded and ran back to his car as fast as her feet would take her. Philip took his time as if a parade of clowns would pop out and scare him any moment. She could look at his face and tell he was unsure of her actions.
"Come on. Hurry before I change my mind."
"Elowen, what did they tell you? You can't let them get to your head. They would say anything. They even lie on me all the time."
She shook her head and quickly crawled to the back seat. "I'm doing this for myself. My birthday is about to be over and I haven't gotten to experience what I've always wanted to." She was lying to him with ease. Something she's never been good at doing but tonight it came with such ease that it scared her. "So come join me," she grinned.
Philip sighed and crawled back there with her. "I'm not even some what in the mood."
"You've been bugging me about this for months and now you're not interested?" He disagreed. "Then what is it? Did they tell you something? Did they lie about me?"
Philip bit his lower lip then wasted no time combining their mouths together for the hundredth time today. His lips were as soft and warm as she remembered but her feelings were different. This kiss wasn't like a hello or goodbye. It was a kiss of innocence being lost and forever stored away from her.
She laid on her back as the weight of him pushed down on her body. Their hands went wild over each other's clothed skin and the familiar feeling of his hands massaging her woman hood has returned. She moaned uncontrollably as his fingers found their way inside her. Impatiently, she tugged at the hem of his khaki pants as their tongues mingled together.
Philip pulled away and unbuckled his black belt. "I'm gonna ask you once more. Are you sure?"
"Does this seem sure to you?" She whispered while shoving her hand in his pants. Philip's head fell forward when her soft hand came in contact with his member.
He then pulled his pants down all the way and Elowen kicked off her underwear. He lifted her leg up until it rested on his inner elbow and positioned himself accordingly. Elowen's face looked desperate and Philip looked hesitant. But being the man that he is, he didn't ask her again.
She felt the pressure and she surely felt the pain. Every muscle in her body clenched and Philip was right there to wipe away her tears. "We can stop anytime," he assured as he stayed still inside of her.
She shook her head although her body was begging her to throw away her pride. "Keep going," she said in a begging tone.
Philip worked on top of her with ease until Elowen began to whimper and her body relaxed. Things began to move steady and she actually began to enjoy the feeling of Philip inside her. Just when she felt some sort of comfortable feeling, Philip pulled out. Something warm was on her stomach and she knew Philip's facial expression from anywhere.
"Don't worry," he said out of breath. "I pulled out."
"When're your rents gettin home?" He got comfortable in her bed with nothing but his underwear on. Elowen stood in the door way watching his every move. "Just so I can know when to leave."
Elowen smiled softly. "In the afternoon. You have plenty of time." She then turned to go to the restroom where she kept her gown hanging on the door. She stripped out of her clothes. Underwear stained red and for some reason that view made her cry. She quickly wiped her tears and looked herself in the mirror. "If he's here when you wake up then you're not Cindy... then this is real."
Throwing her clothes in the hamper, she left the restroom with dry eyes. Philip left enough room for her on the twin sized bed. She smiled while laying down and snuggling close to him.
"I love you, Elowen. We're going to talk about this in the morning too."
"I love you, Philip."
