She Never Expected ✓
The next day, I stood in front of the large building. The building was so tall that I had to crane my neck a little too upwards to look where its end was, but the back of my neck started hurting.
Yesterday, after the guests had left, I tried to ask Grandma if she had something on her mind she wished to share, but she declined. After that, I let the matter go.
Retiring to my room, I opened my laptop to check all the emails. And then I found this email that had written that I'm accepted to work in the 'Aggarwal Industries' as a secretary.
That's why I'm standing in front of this building.
I took a deep breath and entered the building. The first thing I noticed was the company name written in bold letters.
'Aggarwal Industries.'
Approaching the receptionist's desk, I caught her eye, and she offered me a smile that was clearly forced.
"Yes?"
"I'm Ria Mehra, the new secretary," I announced. She gave me a nod.
"The boss is waiting for you on the 55th floor," she said in a disinterested tone, turning her attention to her nails. Acknowledging her directions, I turned to search for the elevator.
After stepping into the elevator, I sigh in relief. Minutes passed, and then elevator doors opened.
Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward and scanned my surroundings. The atmosphere of this floor was totally contrasted to the ground floor, where there was lot of noise and here was only silence.
I straightened myself and started walking towards the only person present there. This block has pin-drop silence. I can even hear the sound of my shoes scraping on the floor.
I walked up to the individual engrossed in the files, and as he looked up, he greeted me with a smile that seemed genuinely warm. He appeared to be about my age. With his curly black hair and striking green eyes, he looked cute.
"You must be Ms. Mehra," he stated, to which I nodded. He made a phone call, and after concluding it, he stood up and gestured for me to follow. I walked behind him in silence, and eventually, he halted before a door, making me to look at it.
'The CEO Advik Aggarwal' was written on the door.
"This is the boss's cabin." He tilted his head, motioning me to enter. I nodded, and he left from there.
I gulped, knocking on the door.
"Come in." A deep voice replied, and I twisted the doorknob and entered.
The first thing that captured my attention was the massive window offering a view of the city. I shifted my gaze to the individual standing before it.
His face was not visible to me, as he was turned away. From this angle, he didn't appear very old, his broad shoulders defining his silhouette.
"Ms. Ria Mehra, Right?" he inquired.
"Yes, Sir," I responded. He turned to face me, gave a nod, and began walking towards his desk where he took a seat. I stared at his face.
Why does his face look familiar?
Have I met him before?
"Take a seat." He said, motioning towards the chair across his desk. I nodded and sat, still trying to figure out why he seemed familiar.
"I have checked your resume and other details. You match our requirements." Collecting some files from the shelf, he placed them in front of me.
"Here. Take these files and complete them in the next two hours." I glanced at all the files. There were Seven files and--
"And don't do anything foolish like last time," he said. I looked up, confused by his words. Our eyes met, and my breath caught in my throat.
He!
How's that possible?
He was the same man I had encountered in the cafe a week earlier.
I had spilled coffee on his laptop.
"Yes, it's me. Now close your mouth and get to work," he said, his gaze fixed on me.
I could only stare back at him.
No way!
He's not my boss. Right?
"What are you doing here? And where is the boss?" I questioned and mentally facepalmed myself for asking a stupid question like this.
He stared at me. His eyes were glistening with amusement. And I watched as slowly his lips twitched, and he smirked. He leaned back in his chair without breaking the eye contact and spoke.
"I didn't think you would be that dumb. This is my company."
I looked downwards and mentally slapped myself.
How can I be so stupid?
I should have done some research before coming here.
I blinked and looked up and found him already looking at me.
What should I do now?
I was determined to get this job. Had I known he was the boss, I wouldn't have applied in the first place.
"Umm...sorry?" I said, but it sounded more like a question. He shook his head with a smirk still plastered on his face and pressed a small red button present on his left.
I thought he was calling security and planning to kick me out of this building. But the next second, the man I met came rushing into the cabin. He was breathing heavily, like he had run the stairs to reach here. He then looked at the man sitting in front of me and gulped.
"You called, Sir?" He asked him.
"Yes. Show Ms. Mehra her cabin and explain all the procedures to her." Mr. Rude said with a straight face. His tone was strict as usual. He then glanced at me and started reading a file, completely ignoring us.
"Come." The man who was still standing at the door said in a soft voice and smiled. I grinned back at him and stood up to leave. I halted on my steps when I heard Mr. Rude calling my name. I turned around and asked, "Yes?"
"You forget the files." He said, motioning towards the files, which he told me to complete in the next two hours.
"Oh, sorry!" I again mentally facepalmed myself and started collecting the files. I could feel his eyes on me, but I didn't lookup. After collecting all the files, I quickly left there, Not wanting to embarrass myself anymore.
So this is it.
Mr. Rude is my Boss!
