She Never Expected ✓

I slumped down on my office chair and released a deep breath. After explaining the procedures to me, Kevin, the man I found on this floor, left. He was a friendly guy, and you could easily talk to him.

As I looked at my surrounding, I finally noticed how wonderful and huge my cabin was. There was a dark walnut bookshelf lining the entire right wall, occupied with different files. A big window overlooking the beautiful city, but it's not as big as it is in the cabin I recently visited.

The cabin of Mr. Rude.

His cabin is right next to mine.

I signed and started studying the files he had given me. I still can't believe that I'm his secretary. I wonder what happened to his previous secretary.

I was busy doing my work when a ring startled me. I almost jumped from my seat. It was definitely not coming from my phone. I took a breath and looked at the telephone present on the left side of my desk. It has a horrible ringtone. I picked it up and asked,

"Hello?"

"Bring me those files." I immediately recognized the person from the harsh tone.

Yup! You guessed it right. It was the one and only, Mr. Rude. With that, he hung up. He didn't even wait for my answer. He just hung up.

I shook my head, stood up, and took the files with me as I walked towards his cabin. After knocking, I heard a 'come in' and entered.

Upon entering, the first thing that caught my attention was him, seated and engaged in a phone conversation. My breath caught when I saw he was wearing glasses. I would be lying if I said he didn't look extra h-

Okay, Ria. Stop it right there. He's your boss.

"If you are done staring at me, then, I want files." He stated in his usual tone. My cheeks heated up, and I rushed and stood in front of his desk.I set the files down on the desk with a soft thud and raised my head. I avoided making eye contact; instead, my gaze was fixed on the clock placed on the wall behind him. He started checking the files, and after closing the last file, he nodded in approval. I released a breath that I didn't know I was holding.

"Now, bring me a black coffee." He ordered, and I glanced at the clock to check the time.

2: 02 pm.

It's lunchtime, who drinks coffee at this hour.

I shook my head, exited his cabin, and made my way to the kitchen. Within five minutes, I was back, holding a steaming cup of coffee. He sat there, gazing at the wall, lost in deep thought.

"Here," I spoke as I extended the cup of coffee towards him. He looked at it and nodded, taking it. I ignored the tingles I got when our fingers brushed.

"When is the next meeting?" he inquired, taking a sip of his coffee.

"In ten minutes," I replied, glancing at the schedule Kevin had given to me.

"Do you need anything else?" I questioned as I started feeling uncomfortable standing there, doing nothing and watching him. He shook his head and told me that I could go now. I thanked God and made my way toward the cafeteria.

My eyes instantly landed on Kevin, and he waved his hand from his seat. As he waved at me, a few heads turned in my direction. I cast my gaze downward, feeling their stares.

You see, I am not a big fan of attention.

As I approached his seat, I realized he wasn't alone; three others were present. Two of them greeted me with smiles, while one man seemed to ignore me like I didn't exist. Returning the smiles, I took the only available seat, nestled between Kevin and a woman with pink hair.

She possessed fair skin, with her hair tinted a soft shade of pink. Her appearance was accentuated by an ample amount of makeup, and her left arm was adorned with a collection of tattoos.

Woah! She looks totally badass.

"Guys, This is new secretary, Ria," Kevin declared in his loud voice, patting my back. They all looked at me and greeted, introducing themselves, one by one.

"I'm Rosy," said the woman with pink hair, with a heart-warming smile.

"I'm Ryan," declared the man in the denim jacket. With his brown curly hair and hazel eyes, he flashed a smile that brought out dimples on his cheeks. He looked quite charming.

"You new here?" He asked me from beside rosy, leaning forward on the table. She rolled her eyes and hit his arm playfully before replying,

"Of course, She's new. Kevin mentioned it already."

"Jeez, Woman. I was just trying to make small talk. Why are you jealous?" He said, smirking at her. She ignored him and turned to me.

"So, how's your first day going?" Rosy inquired, taking a bite of her sandwich.

"Good," I replied. As we continued to chat, I discovered that she was not at all what she seemed. She's the kindest person one could ever meet. Talking to her, I felt like we had been friends for years.

"Hm. You know I'm a little surprised that boss finally took a female secretary this time." She spoke, her gaze roaming on everyone present at the table.

"Huh?" My interest quipped up at this newfound information. I turned my full attention to her.

"She's right. He had never appointed any female as his secretary after that woman..um...What was her name?" Kevin paused his sentence, trying to remember her name.

"Britcha" Jake, who was quiet all this time, answered, for the first time, looking up from his phone.

And here I thought he is mute.

"Yes. Britcha. She was a total bitch. When I joined this company five years ago, she was there." Kevin exclaimed and continued, "You know she got fired in just ten days." He chuckled.

"But What did she do?" I questioned.

"The reason remains a mystery to the entire staff," Rosy said, pulling out her phone from her pocket. Subsequently, everyone became engrossed in their own world.

A while later, Kevin rose to his feet and looked at me.

"Let's go," he said, and began walking towards the exit.

I glanced at my wristwatch, noting that fifteen minutes had passed since break ended. I quickly followed him, and together we entered the elevator.
