Didnât he have a death wish or something? Or maybe, what he was afraid of was losing Letitia!
Vidonia was always on Elginâs case and never had a single nice thing to say about him.
But now, she was bowled over by his guts and devotion.
Who could resist a guy whoâd lay down his life for his girl?
Elgin valued Letitia more than his life!
âThat Shela!â Samson gritted his teeth, âI knew that knife stuck in her heart looked familiar⦠it turns out
to be Elginâs!TM
That very knife wounded Elgin before it got a chance to off Shela!
Letitia asked, âWhereâs Shela? Is she still alive?â
âShe ainât kicked the bucket yet, and theyâre trying to save her.â
âWhat?â Vidonia blurted out, âWhy bother saving that piece of trash? She deserves to die a hundred
times over!â Samson replied, âYou just donât get it. Dying would be too easy for her. Keeping her alive is
the real torture. With Elginâs tricks, heâll make her life worse than death!â
So, they gotta save Shela, but only just enough to keep her breathing.
Letitia nodded, âShe definitely shouldnât get off that easyâ¦â

âLetitia, go change, grab some grub, and get some rest,â Vidonia said, âYouâve been through hell and
back, you
need a break.â
âNo, Iâll wait here for Elgin.â
âBut can your body take the strain?â
âItâs fine.â Letitia forced a smile, âI can hang in there.â
Vidonia looked at her with concern, âJust donât scar.â
Letitia gently touched her face.
She never cared much about looks. If someone loved her, theyâd love all of her, not just her beauty.
But⦠every time Elgin would see the scar on her face, heâd probably be racked with guilt.
Lost in thought, Letitia suddenly heard an erupted roar, âLetitia! You jinx!â
Startled, she looked up.
There was Hawley, fuming and unsteady on his feet, his face flushed with anger, âAre you hell-bent on
destroying the whole Ramirez family?!â
*Exactly! The Ramirez family is cursed because of you!â Phedra chimed in, âYour dad killed my
husband, you got my grandson killed, and now Elgin?!â
Honestly, when Phedra heard Elgin was in danger, her first reaction was relief!
She wished for Elginâs demise so that her son would be the only heir to the Ramirez family, taking over
the inheritance as the new head!
Even if Elgin was saved, it would be best if he ended up disabled!

Hawley walked over and slapped Letitia across the face, âElgin is the pillar of the Ramirez family with
so much responsibility! If anything happens to him because of you, Iâll never forgive you!â
âLetitia!â
Vidonia cried out, quickly stepping in front of her.
Letitia hung her head, with her hair disheveled.
Hawley was panting with rage, âDisaster! Youâre a walking disaster! I shouldâve gotten rid of you long
ago and sent you far, far away!â
Why wait? Why hide it from Elgin?
Now look at the mess, howâs Hawley gonna cope with this? God forbid it turns into a case of the old

Letitia didnât say a word. It was her fault Elgin was hurt⦠her bad.
âIâm sorry,â Letitia said.
âSorry doesnât cut it! If anything happens to Elgin, I, Iâ¦â Hawley nearly passed out from holding his
breath.
Phedra quickly patted his back, âThis Sanders family is the bane of our family and always brings bad
karma to us!â
Letitia just listened in silence. But Vidonia didnât see it that way, so she retorted, âLetitia is already
beating herself up, whatâs the point of you yelling at her? You should be blaming Shela, sheâs the real
culprit!â
âWhoâs this wild cat?â Phedra scolded, âHow dare you talk back to us!â
âIâll say what I want, and right now, I want to speak up! Itâs because Shela couldnât get what she wanted
that Letitia got kidnapped and even disfigured now! And why did Shela do it? Because she used to be
Elginâs woman!â
Letitia tugged at her, âVidonia, stop.â
âYou are hurt and humiliated, and even slapped around now. I must say for you!â
Phedra reached out to shove Vidonia, âWho do you think you are? Get out of here⦠Make yourself
scarce, or Iâll have security drag you out!â
Thatâs when Samson grabbed Phedraâs wrist and flung her aside.
âSheâs with me,â Samson said, âPhedra, you better show some respect.â
Phedra darkened his face.
One after another, they were all untouchable people! Even the wild cat had Samsonâs backing!
Hawley coldly said, âLetitia, you should go too!â
âNo,â she refused, âIâll wait here forâ¦â
âYou donât deserve to!â Hawley cut her off, âI canât stand the sight of you right now. Weâll settle the score
in a few days, and you better never show your face to Elgin again!â
Hawley had already suffered the loss of a son, he couldnât bear the grief of losing a grandson!
*Come on! Hawley ordered, âTake Letitia back to Ivory Towers and keep a close eye on her!â
The bodyguards were ready to move in.
But Letitia said clearly, âYou canât touch me, Iâm Elginâs lawfully wedded wife!â
There was a spark in her eyes with overwhelming determination.
She had a bit of Elgin in her.

âYouâre his wife, but Iâm his grandpa! The former head of the Ramirez family!â Hawley roared. âCome
on, does nobody listen to me anymore?â
Letitia cranked up the volume: âWho would dare?â She stood her ground, facing off against Hawley.
After a while, Letitia softened her tone. âIâll head back to Ivory Towers, but not just yet. At the very least,
I need to see Elgin safe and sound, out of the OR, before I can breathe easy.â
âYouâre a jinx! Your Sanders family is the bane of the Ramirez family!â Hawley banged his cane on the
ground forcefully. âLetitia, if you care about Elgin, youâd stay as far away as possible!â
The Ramirez family kept harping on this, almost making Letitia second-guess herselfâ¦
She wondered if she and Elgin were star-crossed and doomed to be apart.
When she was lost in thought, suddenly the door to the OR swung open.
Letitiaâs heart skipped a beat. She dashed to the front filled with anticipation as the doctor came out.
âHow is he?â she asked anxiously. âIs he awake? Did his hand make it?â
