Chapter 11: Speed Slayer

My Little Waiter! ( VOXTO FANFIC )Words: 6978

A couple of days had pass as Shoto was warming up quite nicely with his new surroundings. He talked more frequently with other chefs and even helped around with washing and cutting vegetables. You could say that they already had a bit of trust within the slayer.

Even Shu was amazed by Shoto's knife work. He still remembered Shu's words. "..Woah! You're really good at cutting with a knife— I guess the rumor of you slamming hammers do pay off!" He said in a more innocent tone than a mocking one which- for some reason, fueled Shoto more.

"I- what. Where did you hear about that?"  He asked, eyes narrowing down at Shu. Did Vox tell Shu about his shit excuse? For what? To mock him? Remind him how shitty of an excuse that was? Shoto didn't really know but he knew damn well that Vox probably had evil intentions when he leaked it to Shu.

A 'huh' escaped the brunette as he looked at Shoto. "Vox told it to the whole friendgroup." He said, bluntly.

He what.

Shoto lightly chuckled. "Hah— so he- he did, okay." He sighed in the end of his sentence, he let go of a breath he didn't know he was even holding.

Shu let out a small 'shhi..' before continuing. "Oh shit- was it suppose to be a secret??" He said in a worried tone.

Shoto laughed it off. "Haha.. No, It's all fine Shu. I just didn't expect him to talk about what I say in certain situations." The indigo eyed boy said, if Vox really planned to tell other chefs what he says in their banter then he needed to be more damn careful when around his boss.

Shu hummed. "Yeah, don't sweat on it dude! Vox always likes to gossip every now and then. He may not seem like it but he's like those highschool girls who squerm around fangirling over shit!" The brunette with purple highlights whispered to Shoto.

Oh this'll be great blackmail for him. He didn't know much about the demon so knowing this  info boosted his confidence bit by bit.

He's so gonna use this to tease him.

Shoto snapped back to reality as he dove too deep in that flashback. He was kinda glad since the blackmail of Vox got reminded back in his head. How long was he zoning out?? He checked the clock to see only about 5 minutes passed.

He breath a sigh of relief before looking left to right. Most of the chefs had gone to their preferred friendgroup and places while Shoto stayed at the same spot as when he was zoning out.

People were probably staring at him by the fact he was just standing here doing basically nothing! He scrambled himself together as he gripped onto his rag that he used to wipe his sweat while working.

He eyed the room only to see that most spaces were occupied. Damnnit, if he didn't zone out then he might've had a place to stay and sit. He cursed at himself for sabotaging his tired body.

Guess he'll just stay around the sink and clean some dishes. He had nothing better to do so this'll take time off his hands. He stared at the kitchen sink with piles of plates ontop. This'll definitely take him his whole break, wouldn't it.

He sighed and quickly unstacking some plates so he'll have a gap between him and the sink.

He rinsed one of the plates that had.. spit.? What did he expect, customers here seemed like they were mentally insane sometimes, Well- he can only really say that based on Shu's stories alongside Ike's.

He even heard that a lady threw her whole meal with her bare hands to Shu because it 'wasn't what she wanted' and complained that Shu needed to cut his hair.

He didn't understand those people if he was honest. Why couldn't they just stand up and tell the chefs directly and politely? Why the need to make an outburst and start conflict?? Do they come home proud that they 'slayed' in the restaurant??

The more Shoto thought, the more he zoned out again. It was always a habit of his, he didn't know how to stop it so he just let his zoning ass be. Though, whenever he zoned out. He never stops what he's doing, which leads to a lot of accidents.

That's why Shoto wasn't allowed to clean dishes for a few weeks since he kept dropping them which was dangerous to say the least. He couldn't blame them, even though Shoto was experienced in demon slaying. He wasn't that reliable in other things just like Mysta.

Him and Mysta were like a power duo in the guild- Both reliable in their respective categories but shit in common sense. Though, Shoto was more smarter than Mysta as per usual. He knew how to coke rice and chop his veggies properly while Mysta seemed like it was his first time learning the word 'cook'. So there was a fine line between them, which was good. Can't have two dumbasses, always one of them got to be dumber.

And the dumber one was obviously Mysta.

"Careful, my boy." Shoto heard a voice emerge behind him which caused him to snap back to reality. He was startled to say the least.

He stiffened up when he finally felt the demon's hand ontop of his shoulder as it slowly moved up and down, almost massaging his shoulder. He let out an ever so small yelp before flinching from the sudden snap between his thoughts and reality.

His vision was blurry when he scanned the room. Though, regaining vision, he saw Vox's hand holding Shoto's in the wet bubbly sink. Shoto just stared back at the demon with a very  confused look. Question marks were basically floating around his head.

Vox seemed confused at first aswell but gave a fond smile later on. "Were you zoning out?" He asked, not shaming the slayer for it but just asked for simple clarification around the given situation.

Shoto muttered. "..Mmyeah-" He felt ashamed of it even of the other wasn't even teasing him about it, it was like human nature to feel embarrass of the things he did without much control.

"Well, you almost dropped a plate. Are you sure you won't be zoning out later in work?" He asked, still rubbing a hand up and down to Shoto's shoulder.

"Huh— Yeah! Of course I'll be fine- I just zone out sometimes, I can assure you that it won't happen especially when I'm on the field and doing work." He said truthfully. There was no point in lying since it was the truth and just the truth.

Shoto never ever  slacked off at work no matter the cause or reason. He gave it his all and rarely ever get side-tracked mid-way through doing something important.

Vox hummed in response, hand still holding the bubbly plate which Shoto almost dropped. So that was why Vox was behind him so closely. Fuck, did Shoto embarrass himself again? Having his boss come save the day so that his stupidity didn't drop anymore plates.

So much for wanting to help, Shoto thought to himself. He probably was gonna burden on the group if he doesn't focus- He needs  to focus or else he'll be fucked over and screwed.

Shoto regained himself before huffing. "Aha! Yeah um— I should get uh- get this cleaned now, yeah?" He said, implying the dishes still needing to be washed and dried.

The demon just nodded before removing both of his hands from Shoto and wiping them off with a towel.

Shoto quietly sighed to myself.

Fuck.
