Chapter 30: Chapter 29

The BrokenWords: 8085

As the carriage made its way to my families home, I couldn't wait to see my children

My injuries had finally healed and with Henry going to the border I could relax with them for a while

But eventually, he would come back and I needed to make sure that he and the children were never alone

Henry was a violent person and he might be capable of harming a child

Plus I still hadn't come up with a plan to divorce him

Our marriage was planned by our families

But I had to do it to survive

My family was in debt and even though it's many of us not everyone had money

Now thanks to the Lions  all my family is striving in wealth

But I need to figure out what to do from now on

I can't kill Henry

As I look out the window I see the online of my families house

The carriage came to a stop and I hurried outside, I had sent word last night that I would be coming today to pick them up

As I get out, they run towards me

"MOM!!!" they all yell as I am engulfed in a giant hug

"My loves, I missed you all," I say as I look them all over

While I hadn't seen them for a couple of weeks, it felt much longer to me

"Mom I can't wait to get back home," Jude says as he holds my hand as we begin to walk into my families home

"Same here, I know the chef misses you all," I say thinking about the dinner the chef is eager to make today

As we go inside I greet my parents who were eagerly awaiting my arrival

"Mother, Father, thank you for watching over my children," I said as I hugged them both

"Of course honey,"  My mother says

"Why don't we have some tea before you all leave," My father says

We all make our way into the tea room and the maids bring in various deserts for the children and some rose tea for the adults

"I also wanted to discuss some news I have," I said as I set aside my tea

"What is it mother," Arabella asked

"Elijah will soon be turning 13 and that means he needs to debut into society. I want to throw the party at the end of next month and of course, I would the help from everyone here." I said as I picked up my tea again

"Evelin, that's a marvelous idea, please let us know what we can do to help you with" My mother exclaims already excited

"I will send over the details in the next week as many things need to be prepared for this party," I said

"A party, will there be candy?" Jude ask as he eats a cookie

"Yes, of course, food, music, and a lot of people for you all to meet," I said as I wiped away some of the crumbs on his face

We left soon after that as the children wanted to go home already and the journey felt much shorter this time

As we all got out of the carriage, we were greeted by the whole staff as they greeted us home

All the children went to their room and wandered around the house as it had been a while since they were last home

I went back to my office to review some more documents meanwhile dinner was being prepared and then I heard a knock on the door

"Come in," I said and I see Elijah some in with a notebook

"Mother could I have a moment," He said coming up to my desk

"Of course dear, what is it," I said as I moved my paperwork aside to give him my full attention

"About my debuting party, what about your husband. I know that's why you did not come to pick us up" He said looking me straight in the eyes

"...Elijah, that is not something for you to worry about ---

"YES IT IS! I am not a child I know you think I am and that I don't know anything but I do know. I know who your husband is and just how powerful he is and how he treats you so I can only imagine what he thinks about us" He says finally taking a seat as if he finally got everything off his chest

And I am stunned, I mean he is my child, it's my job to protect him

"Elijah, I am sorry if you feel that I can't depend on you, but I'm your mother and it's my job to take care of you and your siblings. However, I also know your growing up and you want to prove that your reliable and that you can take care of this family as well". I said still thinking about what more I should say

"Mother," He says as he takes my hand in his

" It is also my job to protect you, I am not always going to be a child and I want to make sure that you and my siblings are taken care of," He says

I can feel my eyes start to water as I see my little boy starting to turn into a man

"I know, and that is also why you need to debut. You need to make connections and your siblings too, none of the nobles have met any of you and this is the opportunity to make a good first impression." I say thinking about my plan

"But won't your husband be mad when he hears about this," He asks

"He won't, as you probably heard he got sent to the border and he won't be back for about 6 months. Plus after your debut, this will be the perfect moment for you to get to know other people. I will not always be married to him and have all these resources so we need to be smart as to how we move forward." I said

" Don't worry mom, I will always be here for you" He says and leaves to get ready for dinner

After he leaves I am lost in thought

Since when did my children begin to grow up

But there isn't much I can do regarding when Henry comes back

I make my way back down and see my children already waiting for me at the dining table

"Mother," Theo says as he pulls out my chair

"I missed being home," Nesrin says as the food start being put on the table

"Same here, I missed you all here with me," I said

"Children with your brother's debut party happening next month, there will be much to be prepared and also you all will be taking more classes as this is a perfect opportunity for you all to make friends," I said as I take a bite of the chicken

" I can't wait to go dress shopping" Arabella exclaims already talking about what color theme we should do and how everyone should wear different shades of that color

"I think that's a great idea," I said enjoying that all the children are excited about this

"And some games," Jude says as he finishes his food

"That's another good idea," I said as I take a sip of wine

The rest of the night is spent planning the party and discussing everything that we had missed for the last couple of weeks with each other

*** THIRD POINT OF VIEW ***

After dinner, all the children went back to the room's and hours later when everything was quiet and their mother was asleep

All the children gathered in the boy's room to talk about their next move

While at their grandparents they had learned everything they needed to know about Henry's family

He was an only child, and his parents had already passed away

His family consisted of 4 cousins he was close to and all of them had 2 or 3 children

Taking down the Lion's was not going to be an easy job

"Elijah, what did you learn," Arabella asked sitting on the bed

"We all have to make connections at my debut party, that means starting tomorrow we need to start learning about the nobles in society," Elijah said as he took a journal from under his bed

" Making friends should be easy," Jude says as he cuddles his stuffed elephant

" New people can be scary," Nesrin said as she huddles closer to Theo

"It should be easy, just talk and respond, but what did mom say when you spoke to her, " Theo says hugging Nesrin

"She confirmed that Henry did go to the border and that we shouldn't worry about him," Elijah said as he skims through his journal

" But when does he come back," Arabella asked

"In about 6 months that's when our plan will officially start but for now we need to make friends and find what ways to keep mom's money," Elijah said as he took a pen and starting writing on a blank sheet.

"Keep her money?" Theo asked

" She wants to divorce him, but then she will be without connections and money. That's why this plan needs to be done with cautious to make sure when the Lion's fall, mother will be the one to receive all the money" Elijah said finishing writing and putting his journal away

"We all should go to sleep now, as we need to wake up early tomorrow and begin studying for the party," Arabella said

They all went back to their room's to get a goodnight's sleep as they prepare for what's to come
