Sophia noticed that Thedâs attention wasnât on her. She hesitated for a moment and then said, âHey, Theo! If itâs okay with you, Iâd like to invite Ellinor as well. Our first meeting wasnât exactly peachy, but Iâd still love to be friends with her. What do you think?â
Theo only looked at Sophia again when he heard her mention Ellinor. âWhy are you so desperate to be friends with her?â
Sophia grinned. âWell, since weâre friends, I should be pals with your wife too, right? Then we can hang out together!â
Theo squinted. âMaybe, but you might be the only one thinking that wayâ
Sophia blinked in confusion. âWhat do you mean? Donât you think Ellinor would like that too?â
Theo looked at the bandage still on Sophiaâs forehead. âIf she thought the same as you, she wouldnât have laid a finger on you yesterday.â
Sophia touched the wound on her forehead. âOh, that! I wouldâve totally forgotten if you hadnât mentioned it. Theo, I really donât mind. I can understand Ellinor. I mean, Iâm a girl and weâre friends, so itâs normal for her to get a little jealous when she sees you with other girls. Itâs water under the bridge; I still want to be friends with Ellinor!TM Jealous?
Theo scoffed. He didnât believe for a second that Ellinor had attacked Sophia out of jealousy. She had acted out of pure annoyance and dissatisfaction.
Who could make her jealous?
Sophia felt she had overstayed her welcome. If she stayed any longer, she might annoy Theo. It was all about knowing when to call it a day.
Theo gave her a slight nod without getting up to see her out.
After watching Sophia leave, Theoâs eyes fell on the fruit on the table.
Ellinor never thought of him, let alone brought him some fruit to eat.
He barely existed in her mind.
Ellinor sneezed several times in a row and rubbed her nose. âWhoâs badmouthing me?â
Chase/walked in after knocking on the door. âBoss, I heard you sneezing. Youâre not catching a cold, are you?â
He put his hand on Ellinorâs forehead to check her temperature and was relieved when he found that it was normal.
âIâm fine, so go back to work! Stop avoiding your duties and leaving everything to Ida. Sheâs competent, but sheâs also just a girl.â Ellinor waved him off as she reprimanded him.
Chase shrugged. âBut Iâm in a bad mood today. I donât want to go to the office!â
âYouâre in a bad mood? Who pissed you off?â Ellinor raised an eyebrow.
Chase sat next to Ellinor, playfully resting his head on her shoulder. âThat niece of Mr. Blanchet! Sheâs ignoring me.â
Ellinorâs mouth twitched. âGood for her! Why on earth should she bother with someone like you?â
Chase grunted. âBoss, itâs one thing when others misunderstand me, but how could you? Iâm actually very sentimental at heart.â
Ellinor got goosebumps all over.
