âItâs not his fault,â Doris said hesitantly. âAt the time, he was busy talking to his friends, and I went to the restroom alone; no one expected to run into that scum.â
âYouâre defending Daniel,â Emmeline pointed out. âIf my older brother hadnât taught that jerk a lesson, you wouldnât have been bullied for no reason.â
âWhat?â Doris was confused. âWaylon taught Raymond a valuable lesson.â
âYes, donât you know?â Emmeline responded. âMy brother was the one who directly disabled. him.â
âOh!â Doris said, her face turning pale. âIs it really that serious?â
âYou should be grateful,â Emmeline pointed out. âItâs already good enough that he didnât take his own life!â
âBut he only left for three or four minutes,â Doris pointed out. âIt takes three minutes for a round trip on the road, and in the middle, he disabled someoneâs limbs?â
Emmeline asked, âHow much longer do you want?â âIf he wanted to take someoneâs life, it would only take a few seconds, and it wouldnât even be bloody; itâs the kind that even forensic doctors canât detect!â
Doris took a deep breath.
Oh, my goodness!
Is Mr. Adelmar a good or bad person?
The doorbell rang while the two were talking.
Mrs. Flores walked to the door and announced Danielâs arrival.
Daniel was noticeably ashamed when he saw Emmeline there as well.
âI was negligent yesterday and did not properly take care of Doris; I came to apologize and check on her,â Daniel explained.
âMr. Thomas, you donât have to blame yourself,â Doris pointed out. âI donât know what Raymond would have done to me if you hadnât arrived in time to stop him; Iâm already grateful to you.â
âUnfortunately, I donât have Waylonâs ability to help you disable someone and vent your anger,â Daniel explained.
âDonât say that,â Doris said. âEveryone has their own way of dealing with situations, and what you did was already excellent.â
âThat makes me feel a lot better,â Daniel said, scratching his chin. âRaymond bullied you all night, and I cursed myself for not hitting him!â
âIf you donât have the skills, donât take the responsibility!â Emmeline exclaimed coldly.
Daniel was taken aback, as if he had heard this before.
He suddenly remembered Waylon telling him this just a few days before.
They truly are like siblings-they are so close!
âWell,â Emmeline remarked as she stood up. âYou guys should talk.â
Daniel was relieved since he thought Emmeline was going to leave. He quickly got up said, âIâll walk you out.â
âWho said I was leaving?â Emmeline smirked. âCan I trust you, Doris? Iâm going to the kitchen to cook for her. Havenât you seen me since noon?â
âDaniel,â ââ¦â¦.
âHow about I cook for you, too?â Emmeline said to Daniel.
âWellâ¦â Daniel smiled nervously. âHow could I have dared to tire Miss Louise?â
âThen I wonât keep you,â Emmeline responded.
Daniel was surprised and could only say, âAll right then, Iâll go first, and Iâll see Doris another day.â
âDoris has us,â Emmeline pointed out. âYouâre so busy; work is more important.â
âDaniel,â ââ¦â¦â
This lady is actually connected to Waylon!
Emmeline quickly cooked lunch for Doris after Daniel had left.
âRing Her phone rang, and it was Abel who was calling.
Emmeline quickly answered, âHubby.â
âArenât you at the Nightfall Cafe?â Abel asked. âIâll come and pick you up.â
âIâm at Dorisâs place,â Emmeline explained. âDidnât I tell you last night?â
âI forgot because I was busy,â Abel explained. âIâll come and pick you up then.â
Emmeline asked, âDo you have something to do?â She intended to stay with Doris and learn more about Waylon.
âItâs the weekend today,â Abel pointed out. âMy parents want us to come over to their house. for dinner.â
âI canât believe I forgot!â Emmeline smacked herself on the back of the head. Iâm becoming more and more absent-minded!â
âWait for me,â Abel instructed. âIâll come pick you up, and weâll go directly to Levan Mansion.â
âThat works too,â Emmeline said as she hung up the phone.
âYouâre not having dinner here?â Doris was still hesitant to leave.
âYou heard it?â Emmeline asked, shrugging. âIâm going to see the kids today; they donât have school.â
âThen I wonât keep you,â Doris responded. âIâll be going to work tomorrow.â
âItâs okay to rest for one more day,â Emmeline explained. âBesides, thereâs still me at the dessert shop, right?â
