âEmma!â Abel panicked. âWhat happened? How did this happen? How did you get into a car accident?â
Emmeline closed her eyes and repeated the same words, âBen, make him leave! I donât want to see him.â
âEmma!â Abel held Emmelineâs uninjured hand and said, âDonât scare me. Tell me what happened.
Donât be afraid; Iâm here. Tell me what happened.
She lowered her head and cried.
Benjamin grabbed Abelâs arm and coldly said, âYou should go back. Emma doesnât want to see you!â
âWhat happened to Emma?â Abel also grabbed Benjaminâs hand. âTell me, what happened last night?â
âAbel?â Benjamin frowned and asked, âDonât you know what happened?â
âI was with clients from Luminara last night, had a meal, drank too much wine, and slept through the night.â Abel said, âI donât know what happened. No one informed me!â
Benjamin grabbed his collar and gritted his teeth. âAbel, I can knock you down with three punches.
Abel clenched his teeth and raised an eyebrow. âYou can try, but tell me how Emma got hurt.â
âFine! Iâll tell you!â Benjamin said. âWhy was Emma driving in the middle of the night? I donât. know. All I know is that she got into an accident. I called you on your phone to inform you, but you rejected the call and turned it ofl?â
Abel shook his head. âNo, thatâs not what happened.â
Benjamin continued, âEmma was calling for you while she was unconscious. I couldnât bear it, so I sent my men to find you at Ryker Group, and they saw⦠Benjamin clenched his teeth.
Abel frowned and asked, âSaw what?â
âYou turned off your phone, disregarding Emmaâs life and death, and you were sleeping with another woman!â Benjamin shouted.
Abel was stunned, then sneered and asked, âBenjamin, why are you accusing me like this? Do we have any grudges?â
Benjamin sneered and questioned, âShould my personnel from last night provide you evidence using a camera?â
âNo!â Abel shook his head. âThere must be something wrong here! I am a disciplined man and would never do something so despicable!â
He fell to the side of the sickbed, almost kneeling. âEmma, did you go back last night? What did you see? Tell me!â
Benjaminâs face turned dark, and he walked out of the ward.
Emmeline pulled the blanket over her head and sobbed, âYou go. Whatever happened is in the past.
You have your freedom. I donât blame you. Itâs my fault, and I know you wonât forgive me. Alright, you go and get along well with her. Weâll keep our distance from now on, and that will be enough!â
âEmma, Abel exclaimed with anger and laughter. âAre you saying the same thing too? Are you also accusing me?â
âIâm not accusing you.â She lowered her eyes. âItâs only natural for you to be with Alana. I wonât bother you anymore!â
âEmmeline!â Abel suddenly stood up. âWhat on earth are you talking about?â
She took off the âLove for A Lifetimeâ ring and threw it on the ground, coldly saying, âGive it to the person deserves it.â
He picked up the diamond ring from the floor, feeling coldness in his heart. With a bitter smile, he said, âEmmeline, what do you take me for? Have you already gotten engaged to Albus? Am I worthless in your eyes? Are you trying to push me away?â
She didnât want to say anything anymore as she had already seen the truth from last night. Her trust in Abel since childhood had collapsed. The world she once knew was overturned.
She didnât know who she could trust like that anymore.
Abel leaned against the hospital roomâs door, looking up with tears. His heart broke, his blood dried up, and he had no strength in his legs.
He clenched the diamond ring in his hand, causing pain in his palm.
Benjamin lit a cigarette and handed it to him.
âHow do I explain to Emma now?â Abel cried without tears. âWhat did she see?â
âShe saw you holding another woman in your arms.â Benjamin said, âThatâs why she lost focus while driving and ran a red light.â
âEmma came back last night.â Abel sobbed, âShe came back to find me, but I⦠How could this happen? I drank a lot; I was unconscious, but I didnât do anything!â
