Axell was surprised to hear this.
The whole thing quickly got to his head.
As far as he knew, Jessie was immune to Albertâs charm and was seeking to date only him, which meant that she liked him a lot.
This made him very happy.
But later, when they had formed a closer bond, he would make sure to let her know the importance of connections.
As the two of them walked out of the cafe, they caught sight of Albert getting in his car as the driver respectfully held the door open for him.
They also saw Jeslyn seated in the car.
She was so beautiful.
There was a cone of ice cream in her hand, but she was not eating it.
Instead, she was staring at Jessie who was now walking towards her.
In her mind, the little girl felt that she had been betrayed.
She understood why Jessie was nice to Kiana.
After all, Kianaâs mom was friends with Jessie so Kiana practically met Jessie first.
But how could she be so nice to a man she had just met?
This made Jeslyn feel angry.
But being a proud individual, she didnât complain.
In fact, she pretended not to care.
âSweetheart, why donât you greet Jessie?â Albert asked.
âI thought you like her very much.
â
But this only annoyed Jeslyn even more.
She still hadnât forgotten when she fell asleep on the ride home and Jessie left without waking
her up to say goodbye.
It had been so many days after that night, but still, Jessie hadnât come to coax her or play with her.
âI donât like her now,â she said to her father in a firm tone.
âSorry, sheâs just a child.
Donât take her words to heart,â Albert apologized to Jessie as he gave his daughter a disciplinary pat.
Then he entered the car.
At this point, Axell wanted to say something, but the driver beat him to it.
âMiss Green, where are you going?â he asked, addressing Jessie.
âWe can give you a lift, you know.
â
When Axell heard this, he immediately felt that the driver had crossed a line.
How could a driver make such a decision without even consulting Albert? Clearly, the driver thought too highly of himself and Axell was sure that he would be fired later.
But he couldnât care less about the driver.
All he wanted to do was give Albert a good impression of himself, so he said with a smile, âWeâre fine.
We donât want to put you out.
After all, we came in our cars.
â
Then he bent down to say goodbye to Albert and his daughter.
Jeslyn didnât respond to him.
Instead, she turned her head away arrogantly.
It was clear that she didnât like Axell at all.
