âSheâs just a spoiled girl,â Albert apologized to Axell.
âAnd itâs all my fault.
I spoiled her.
And I apologize for her rude behavior.
Come on, Jeslyn, say goodbye to them!â
But Jeslyn didnât listen to her father.
Albert sighed.
He had no choice but to order the driver, âJust take us back to the company.
â
It turned out that he had suspended so much of his work just to buy an ice cream for his daughter.
Now, he was going back to his work.
After the black car had zoomed off, Axell said thoughtfully, âI wonder when weâll be able to afford such a nice car.
â
Then he turned to Jessie and said with a smile, âI just hope we can achieve this dream together.
â
But each of them had their own different thoughts and the date ended before long.
After finishing her work at the studio, Jessie packed up and went home.
When she got home, she found that dinner was ready.
While they were eating, Lettie asked in concern, âSo, what do you think of Axell? I saw photos of him.
He looks handsome and he has a promising job.
I also heard that heâs had only two exes.
At least, heâs not a playboy.
â
âWell, heâs not bad,â Jessie said with a shrug.
âBut I still need to know more about him.
â
Lettie was happy to hear this.
âThen you need to go shopping and buy more dresses,â she suggested.
âThe weather is getting warmer.
I havenât seen you buy many clothes for yourself in the last few years.
For crying out loud, you used to like dressing yourself up!â
âYeah, I used to, but not anymore,â Jessie retorted.
âI now know how difficult it is to make money.
I do home tutoring now and get paid by the hour.
Can you imagine that? And I have to be humble to make them feel that theyâre getting their moneyâs worth.
â
Jessie almost never talked to her mother about her job, but now, she was doing just that.
Lettie frowned as she listened to her.
âWow.
I didnât know itâs so difficult,â she gasped in disbelief.
âWhy donât you just quit then? I can ask my friends to help you get a stable job.
I donât want you to wear yourself out with stress.
â
But Jessie wouldnât hear of this.
âI want to earn my own bread,â she stated stubbornly with a smile.
âYou know, Mom, in the end, we can count on no one but ourselves.
Lettie couldnât help but laugh.
âYouâre right.
â She nodded in agreement enthusiastically.
âItâs always better for us to rely on ourselves.
But frankly, I think Axell is quite a reliable man.
He comes from an average family, but he has a doctorate degree in medicine.
Both of you can make a smart baby in the future.
Besides, heâs smart and will help the children with their schoolwork.
â
But all Jessie could think of was how Axell had fawned on Albert earlier in the day.
She tried her best to suppress her anger and forced a smile to her face.
âLet things take their course,â she said to her mom.
âSo far, weâre barely friends.
â
âYouâre right.
â Lettie nodded.
Later that night, Jessie took a shower and stayed in her room to prepare for upcoming lessons.
Her studio had just been launched, so she only had 20 students so far.
For now, some of them were being taught by the teachers she had hired.
Using a reading lamp, she concentrated on the books and read them carefully.
But all of a sudden, her phone beeped.
It was the notification of a friend request.
