Livianaâs POV
Alfred and Evelyn still looked at me in shock.
Iâm sure they werenât expecting that.
They had come here to see Luan and not me.
Yet, here I am.
âI thought only my fatherâI mean Dimitri was the only one who knewâ I said confused now.
They snapped back to reality.
âHe was the first to know, my lady, yes. But Dimitri could only do so much. At some point, the King had told us about your mother and her pregnancy. We never met her once in person but we knew about her and youâ Evelyn explained.
Itâs true.
I doubt the two men could do it all by themselves.
Alfred and Evelyn were on the sidelines too but my mother probably didnât know it.
âWe thought youâ¦.didnât survive, my lady. After that night, your parents nor Dimitri never came backâ Alfred said sadly.
Itâs because my parents sacrificed themselves and Dimitri ran away to save me.
But I still had one question in my head.
âHow did the council know about my mother?â I said.
âA spy came, my lady. It was too late when we realized it and the enforcers cameâ Alfred said with a sigh.
A spy?
Iâd like to rip that spyâs throat out.
In fact, Iâd like to rip the council memberâs throat out.
âMy lady, if you donât mind us asking, how were you able to survive?â Evelyn asked carefully.
âMy fatherâI mean Dimitri took me away with him to save meâ I told them. They seemed relieved.
âYou said something about being an Alpha of a pack, my ladyâ Alfred suddenly remembered.
âYesâ I confirmed and they looked at me in awe.
âYou must be a good leader like your father thenâ Evelyn said. I smiled.
I must be.
âYou mentioned earlier that you have retiredâ I pointed out. They both nodded.
âDo you have a family back where you came from? Or your mates?â I asked. They looked at each other and chuckled.
âWeâre mates, my ladyâ they both said and held hands.
Ohhh.
âDo you have a child?â I asked curiously. They glanced at each other and shook their head.
âUnfortunately, no, my ladyâ Evelyn said with a sad smile.
Oh.
âIâm sorryâ I said. They smiled at me reassuringly.
They wouldâve made great parents, Iâm sure.
âAlfredâ¦Evelynâ¦â I carefully called out to them. They looked at me waiting.
âIâm sorry to tell you this but I canât let you return anymore to where you came from. I fear that with what you know, both of you might be in dangerâ I told them carefully and they glanced at each other.
âIf it makes you feel any better, Iâd love to have you in my pack. I can protect you thereâ I offered and they looked at me with a smile.
âWeâd love to be of service to you, Princessâ Alfred said. I quickly waved my hand.
âNo no. You will not serve me. I shall treat you both like any other pack member. I may be of royal b***d but I do not wish to be treated like one at the momentâ I told them.
âI must also tell you that the only people who know of my other identity are both of you and Luanâ I said. They nodded.
âMy lady, Dimitriâ¦where is he?â Evelyn asked.
My heart clenched.
âThatâs also one of the questions I need to ask youâ I said and they looked confused for a moment.
âYou know the castle and kingdom well since you had served there in many yearsâ I said and they nodded in agreement.
âIn that case, you must know the different places that they keep the prisonersâ I said. They nodded.
Good.
âLiviana, what are you thinking?!â Amaris snarled at me.
I pushed her back.
âI need the both of you to please help me locate some of these placesâ I said and they looked at me confused but dared not to question me.
âLiviana! No!â Amaris growled and I gasped as I felt her try to take over.
âDiana already told you that you canât! Youâll be in dangerâ Amaris growled again as I struggled to keep her from getting the best of me.
âI want to save my family!â I growled back at her as I fell off the sofa as we both fought for dominance.
âPrincess!â Alfred and Evelyn stood up and rushed to approach me. I held my hand up to stop them from getting closer.
This has never happened before.
Amaris and I had always agreed with each other.
I heard hurried footsteps coming down and I immediately felt Luanâs presence coming.
âYou will save them in time! Do not be like this, Liviana! If you die, your parentsâ sacrifices will become nothing!â Amaris growled at me.
I clenched my fists.
âLiviana!â Luan said in panic and ran to me. I shook my head at him to let him know to stay back.
âHow do we know how much time they have left, Amaris?! For all I know, they are dying!â I hissed.
âLiviana, trust us please! I know how worried you are but if something bad happens to you, there will be no hope for the two territories to come togetherâ Amaris said.
Why does it have to be me?
âPlease, Liviana. Just wait a little moreâ Amaris pleaded and I gave in.
âFineâ I said and we both stopped our battle for dominance.
I panted.
I guess, no rescue mission to talk about today.
âLivianaâ Luan said approaching me and helped me up.
âWhat happened?â he asked worried.
âI had a little fight with Amarisâ I said lowly.
I turned to look at Alfred and Evelyn apologetically.
âI think my favor will have to wait another timeâ I told them and they both nodded.
âFavor?â Luan said looking at me.
I canât tell him.
Iâm sure heâd also disagree with me.
I have had enough people disagreeing with me for the day.
âI want to go homeâ I simply said.
