Livianaâs POV
I got up for yet another day. I looked out of my balcony to see if Luan was already outside since heâs usually already waiting at this time.
But he wasnât there.
Maybe heâs just a little late.
I went to my bathroom and showered then got dressed for school.
I went down and saw El in the kitchen eating breakfast. I peeked outside to look if Luan was already there but he still wasnât.
This is the first time that heâs actually late.
Itâs weird.
I joined El for breakfast.
âWill you give me a ride to school?â El said batting his eyelashes at me. I cringed.
âYou know how to driveâ I said and he pouted.
âYeah but Iâm too lazy to do it now since Luan always gives me a rideâ he said with a sigh.
âThen wait for himâ I said.
âI donât think heâs coming todayâ he said.
But why?
âThen you have no choice but to driveâ I said and stood up then gave him a pat on the back before making my way out of the pack house.
I saw Dante with Edmond coming from the direction of the training grounds.
âGood morning, princess. Heading off to school now?â Dante greeted and gave me a k**s on the top of my head.
âYeahâ I simply answered then he looked around.
âGrey isnât trying to pick you up?â he asked again and I shrugged.
âIâm going. Bye, uncle. Bye Edmondâ I said and waved them goodbye before going on my motorbike and driving off.
I wonder why he didnât come.
Did he already give up?
But he seemed okay just last night.
So whatâs wrong?
âYouâre regretting giving mate a hard time now huhâ Amaris popped in my head.
âDonât start with me, Amaris. You know why I had to do itâ I retorted.
âLiviana, I love you, I do. And I understand why youâre scared of taking a risk with our mate. But have you ever realized how unfair you have been to him?â she said.
âUnfair how?â I asked with my brows furrowed and my hands clenching on the handles tightly.
âItâs his nature to be possessive over his mate thatâs why heâs always been like that whenever youâre around mateless wolves or Blake. But he changed that because youâd always lash out on him and end up fighting. He became as understanding as he can and even agreed to give you space. Of course heâll feel betrayed to see you being intimate with Blake when heâs our mate and we barely let him do thatâ she started as I accelerated.
âHeâs always been the one to adjust for us. The one who keeps chasing us when YOU try to push him away and distance yourselfâ she huffed.
I sighed.
âYou know that Iâm trying, Amaris. Iâm really trying but itâs not easyâ I said.
âItâs not easy for our mate too, Liviana. He makes mistakes, yes. But you do too. Yet, when you do, heâs so quick to brush it off. But when itâs him? You always act like heâs the worst thing to happen in your life. Have you ever thought of that?â she said and it was like something snapped in me.
âJust keep all of this in mind. Youâre not the only one whoâs struggling. Donât wait for the time that he finally gives up on us because you choose to see his mistakes than his effortsâ she said and cut me off.
My hold on the handle tightened and I drove even faster than I already was.
I arrived school in a bad mood.
Itâs so early in the morning and Iâve already been scolded by Amaris.
What a great way to start the day.
âYo, Livi!â
I turned to look at who called me with a frown.
âWhat?â I snapped.
âAye chill! I just wanted to deliver a message from Luan. Geez!â Beau said and raised his arms in surrender. My expression changed and calmed myself.
âWhat is it?â I asked calmly.
âHe couldnât come to pick you up because heâs sick. He said he didnât want you to get sick because of him so heâs back at our place trying to recoverâ he said and my expression turned into a worried one.
âBut he seemed just fine yesterdayâ I said.
âHe probably seemed fine when heâs around you but when heâs not, youâll definitely see that he hasnât been well for the past few daysâ he told me.
âBut why?â I asked again.
âWell, he hasnât been sleeping or eating well lately. He gets up pretty early too so he can go to pick you up. It seems that youâre little fight has affected him a lot A LOTâ he stated. I bit my lower l*p as I clenched my fists.
âThanks for telling meâ I said and walked pass him and out of the school again.
No wonder something seemed off about him specially yesterday.
Heâs sick.
I got on my motorbike again and drove away from school.
I need to see him.
I made my way to the location of the place he was staying there and arrived in front of the gates.
The guards immediately stopped me and I removed my helmet.
âWho are you and what are you doing here? This is a private propertyâ a guard said.
âIâm here to see Luanâ I said blankly. The guards brows furrowed and he took out his sword then pointed at me.
âHow dare you address his majesty like thatâ he said and I only stared at him without a hint of fear.
âIâm sure his majesty doesnât mind me addressing him by his name. But Iâm sure he will mind what youâre doing right nowâ I said and the guard growled.
âWhat the hell are you doing?!â a loud growl from the entrance of the gate said and I looked to see Abe standing there.
âPut your fcking sword down if you still want to liveâ he hissed at the guard.
The guard put his sword down confused and lowered his head in respect.
âAre you okay, Livi?â Abe asked worried.
âIâm fine, Abeâ I told him then he snapped his head to the guard.
âYouâre dead when Luan finds out about thisâ he said to the guard.
âLet him off, Abe. He probably doesnât even know that you guys know meâ I said.
âYeah, well if I donât tell Luan, Iâll be the one deadâ he said and I chuckled.
âDonât worry, I wonât let that happenâ I assured him and he sighed.
âWhereâs Luan?â I finally asked.
âHeâs inside resting. I donât think he knows youâre coming. The main reason he didnât go to school was because he didnât want you to get sick because of himâ he told me.
âI knowâ I said.
âThen what are you doing here? Donât you have class?â he suddenly asked.
âDonât you?â I asked back and he laughed.
âI do but I canât leave Luan by himself. Heâs too much of a headache for the helpers here. You know how bossy and grumpy he isâ he said with a frown and I chuckled.
âIs he? Heâs not bossy nor grumpy around me these daysâ I said with a shrug.
âOh what his mate does to his majestyâ he kid and we both laughed.
âAbeâ I said and he hummed in response.
âIâll look after Luanâ I said and he looked at me in surprise.
âWill you really?â he asked and I nodded.
âIâ¦owe himâ I said and a small smile formed on Abeâs lips.
âOkay. Letâs go inside. Itâs time for his majestyâs breakfastâ he said and we went inside the gate and into their place.
Abe called for a helper and they gave us a tray of food for Luan and his medicines. Abe carried it and we made our way to where Luanâs room was.
âWhatever you do, donât tell him that Iâm the one who let you in or so help me goddess, Iâll end up in a coffin by tomorrowâ he said with a chuckle. I laughed.
âSince youâre already here, Iâll attend my classesâ he said and I nodded in agreement.
We arrived at a large two door bedroom.
âHeâs inside. He barely sleeps nowadays so heâs probably awake stillâ Abe said and handed me the tray of food.
âThanks, Abeâ I said and gave me a small.
âThank you, Liviâ he said and smiled before leaving me in front of the door.
I took a deep breath and came in.
âWhat the hell took you so longâLivianaâ Luan said as he looked at me in shock.
âSorry. Weâre you that hungry?â I said apologetically knowing I was the one who kept Abe from giving his breakfast to him earlier.
âN-no I j-justâ¦what are you doing here?â he asked embarrassed.
I put down the food by the bedside table.
âI got the news that you were sick so I came hereâ I said and his brows furrowed.
âBeau told you I was sick, didnât he? I told him to say that I had something important come upâ he muttered in a low voice the last part but I still heard it.
âYou didnât want to let me know that you were sick?â I asked and felt a pang of guilt since I know that Iâm the reason why heâs sick now.
âItâs not like that, Liviana. I just⦠I didnât want to burden you, you knowâ he said apologetically.
I felt even more guilty.
Here he is, sick as hell but all he thinks about is not burdening me.
âLuanâ I said and approached him.
âLiviana, donâtââ he stopped when I hugged him.
âIâm sorry. Iâm sorry that I wasnât a good mate. Iâm sorry that I always gave you a hard time. Iâm sorry that I always push you away. Iâm sorry if I hurt youâ I said as my hug slightly tightened around him.
Then, I felt him caress my hair.
âHow can I ever stay mad at you?â he whispered and my heart skipped a beat.
âIâm sorryâ I kept apologizing and he kissed the top of my head.
âYouâre forgiven, my loveâ he said and I smiled.
