Chapter 1099

Marrying the Man in the Dark

Chapter 1099 Unnecessarily Suspicious

"Ah!" Colin leaped from the sofa, startled. He glared angrily at Cherise, still holding the cup of water, and demanded, "What are you doing!?"

Cherise shrugged and replied, "They've been waiting an hour to take your statement. I just kindly woke you up." With that, she placed the cup down and swiftly left.

"Cherise Shaw!" Colin seethed, calling out, "Watch out!"

Cherise retorted, "Whatever."

"You... you!" Colin fumed, "Just wait and see how I deal with you later!"

Damien entered the room at that moment, overhearing Colin's threat. "Mr. Gray, have you forgotten our agreement?" The corners of Damien's lips raised in a faint smile. "Watch your manners with her."

Colin paused before responding, "No! I haven't returned to the Gray family yet! No one can control me now."

"Is that so?" Damien chuckled lightly, walking over to Cherise and gracefully placing a hand on her shoulder. "If you don't start adapting now, can you guarantee you won't slip up when you return to the Gray family?"

"If you want me to help you break free from the Gray family and escape a marriage you don't want, then you need to remember from now on that I'm your twin brother. And Cherise... is your sister-in-law."

Colin hesitated, glaring angrily at the round-faced, large-eyed woman in Damien's embrace. She was charming, but the thought of her splashing him with cold water made him want to... strangle her! He was grouchy upon being awoken and was now seething with anger! He couldn't fathom such a woman like her being his sister-in-law! It was impossible!

"You're running out of time. I hope you can push past your mental barriers and accept this reality sooner rather than later," Damien said, putting his arms around Cherise before striding away. Colin was left dumbstruck. Who said I have mental barriers? How dare he demand that I push past these alleged barriers?

Just as Colin felt his indignation rising, a police officer who had been waiting on the side finally spoke up nervously, "Mr. Colin, I hope you can cooperate with the police and provide a statement about Raymond's death..." Colin frowned and turned around, beginning to give his statement impatiently.

By the time the officer departed, it was already noon. Raymond was dead, and everything was settled. After sending the officer off, Colin approached Damien and requested that he and Cherise accompany him back to Gray Residence. He couldn't bear to stay on this island where someone had died for a moment longer.

Damien and Cherise agreed to do so after dropping Beckham off at Tanner Residence before heading to Gray Residence with Colin.

"No," Colin rolled his eyes. "You're familiar with Tanner Residence's surroundings. What if you seek refuge there and forget about me? I have no leverage over you now. I refuse!"

"We're just taking my dad home!" Cherise sighed, also rolling her eyes in frustration. "If you're worried, why not come with us? Will you be satisfied if you witness it firsthand?"

But Colin remained adamant, shaking his head. "I've said it before. You're familiar with Tanner Residence's surroundings. Even if I accompany you, what if you subdue me too?"

Cherise sighed once more. "You're getting suspicious unnecessarily."

Damien smiled ruefully, then asked Beckham, "Father, what are your thoughts?"
