Chapter 1111
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 1111 The Subtle Differences
The refreshing and elegant demeanor Lucy possessed stood in stark contrast to Cherise's! Can two women with differing dispositions be... close friends?!
"Is this the Gray family's second son?" Lucy settled into her seat, openly observing Colin. "He really resembles Damien. If you ignore his eyes, can you differentiate between him and Damien?"
"Absolutely. His demeanor is distinctly different from my charming husband," Cherise replied with a shrug. "I can discern it immediately!"
"Well, Damien sleeps beside you every day. If you can't recognize him, that's quite sad," Lucy remarked.
"Exactly." Cherise nodded in agreement, her lips forming a slight pout. "Let me show you how to differentiate them without looking at their eyes." She retrieved her phone and displayed Damien's photo. "See, my husband's jawline is more defined. Colin has a gentler demeanor, lacking Damien's assertive presence. Also..."
Colin fell silent, feeling a bit uncomfortable. I'm sitting right in front of them! Yet, these two women were critiquing his appearance brazenly as if he weren't there. Shouldn't they show me some respect since this is technically a blind date? But when he recalled that Cherise's friend, Lucy, was proficient in self-defense...
Colin forced a smile to reassure himself. Being critiqued for his appearance, he reasoned, was far preferable to potential mistreatment from this woman in the future. Hence, he sat there patiently as Cherise and Lucy discussed the differences between him and Damien.
"Your personality is surprisingly agreeable," Lucy remarked with a smile as their conversation wrapped up. She gracefully filled a cup of coffee for Colin. "Cherise filled me in. I'm sorry for my rudeness earlier. I was just testing your patience. I'm glad to see you're a good-natured person." Setting down a cup of steaming coffee in front of him, she continued, "I'm on board with this contract marriage."
"My father is also pleased with you, but let's keep our contract marriage a secret from the elders for now. Since the Grays are keen on us getting hitched, we should discuss the wedding details," she suggested. Then, a thought seemed to strike her, "Oh, and after we tie the knot, my son will be staying with us. Is that alright with you?"
"Absolutely. No problem at all!" Colin nodded enthusiastically. "As long as..." He hesitated for a moment before adding, "As long as you and your son don't harass me, mess with my action figures, or mess up my comics... I'm alright with anything!"
Lucy froze before bursting into laughter. "I'm sorry. I... can't help but laugh upon hearing you make such endearing comments with Damien's face. I just can't help it..." she managed to say amidst her amusement before snorting with laughter again. Though this marriage was purely transactional, the thought of teasing this man with Damien's face in the future brought her immense satisfaction.
As Lucy chuckled, Colin could only awkwardly nod in agreement. "Even if you find it hard to accept... you'll warm up to me eventually. You won't have to be stuck with me for too long," he reassured her.
Only then did Lucy turn to face him, offering a subtle nod in response. "Mm."
"Oh, before you go." Colin took a deep breath, unable to resist voicing his question any longer when Lucy stood up to leave. "Ms. Staber, I have something to ask you."
"Go on."
"If... and I mean hypothetically speaking, what if your ex-boyfriend pays you a visit after we're married? What would you do?"
Ex-boyfriend...
