Chapter 1151
Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 1151 A Compromise
The woman got up quickly, saying, "I'll be back soon!" She didn't bother shutting down her computer as she rushed off to make coffee. Lucy, who was sitting across from her, shook her head in disbelief and moved over to Cherise's seat. She had hit a snag in her work on a project and needed to use Cherise's computer to look up some information.
To Lucy's surprise, Cherise had left her chat window with Colin open. Their conversation had shifted to Lennon and eventually turned to discussing Lucy herself. Almost automatically, Lucy scrolled through the earlier chat messages.
It seemed that during a disagreement between Colin and Lennon, Lucy's name had come up, provoking Lennon's anger and leaving Colin uncertain about how to mend the rift. From Colin's messages, Lucy gathered that he heavily depended on Lennon for his current work. Damien had also made it clear that Lennon would go on ignoring Colin unless Colin made a proper apology.
The woman sighed softly and shook her head before she began typing on the keyboard. 'Let me handle this. I'll help you out.' Lennon had formed a prejudice against Colin because of what had happened earlier, which had sparked their argument. Lucy felt compelled and morally obligated to assist Colin in resolving the issue.
Cherise had been right. No one understood Lennon's temperament better than Lucy, and no one could calm him down when he was angry except Lucy.
'Are you sure you can handle this?' Colin's uncertainty echoed through the computer. Unaware that someone else had stepped in, he only remembered Cherise had often described Lennon as challenging to deal with. Why is she suddenly so confident?
'No one can do it better than me.'
Colin hesitated, then asked, 'How can I thank you?'
'Let's talk about that later.' With finality in her tone, Lucy closed the chat box decisively. She refocused on her search for information without further distraction.
When Cherise returned after serving coffee to several supervisors, it was clear someone had used the computer in her absence. "I was looking for information," Lucy said without looking up.
Cherise replied, "Mm," and opened the chat window with Colin. Upon seeing the latest message "she" had sent to Colin, Cherise was surprised. The tone of the message was unsettling. She glanced cautiously at Lucy, who remained absorbed in her work. "What... do you plan to do?"
Lucy's actions paused. Her tone was calm and indifferent. "I intend to settle for a compromise for the sake of my new husband. I'll meet my ex-boyfriend, inform him that Colin is under my protection, and urge him to stop his hostility toward Colin in the future."
Cherise was at a loss for words. She gave Lucy a thumbs-up across the desk.
Lucy and Lennon agreed to meet at a café near the office. Lucy had booked a private room on the top floor to avoid attracting attention. After bidding farewell to Cherise at the office, Lucy arrived early at the café to await Lennon.
Worried about Lucy, Cherise subtly claimed a spot on the first floor of the café and called Colin to join her. "When Lennon shows up, you need to keep Violet occupied if she's with him," she instructed as soon as Colin sat down.
"You want me to distract Lennon's fiancée?" Colin's face immediately clouded over. "I don't even know her. How am I supposed to do that?!"
Cherise frowned, thinking hard. It was indeed a problem. But then... She glanced at Colin's face, which resembled Damien's. "I've got it!" she said, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Just pretend to be Damien."
