Marrying the Man in the Dark
Chapter 712 Donât Disturb Uncle Shaw and Aunt Sarah
Damien frowned. âI hope you wonât pose such questions in the future.â He smiled. âIâm very thankful that Rowena
saved my life.â
âBut without youâ¦.â He extended his arm and pulled Cherise into a tight embrace. âWithout you, my life. would be
devoid of meaning.â
âIn other words, Rowena saved my physical form, but you rescued my spirit.â
âSoâ¦.â He kissed Cheriseâs forehead tenderly. âWho do you think I would choose?â
Cherise pursed her lips, but Frances knocked before she could continue her playful banter with Damien. âMr. and
Mrs. Lenoir, dinner is ready.â
Cherise slowly extricated herself from Damienâs arms as if roused from a dream. They descended the staircase
hand in hand.
Elvis and Sarah were seated at the dining table downstairs with Soren and Serafina. Upon seeing Cherise and
Damien walking down the stairs hand in hand, Elvis and Sarah exchanged knowing glances and smiled fondly.
Soren crossed his arms, his small face clouded with slight discontent. On the other hand, Serafina clapped excitedly.
âCongratulations on holding my beautiful mommyâs hand, Mr. Handsome!â
âThank you, Serafina. The man smiled and led Cherise into the dining room before gallantly pulling out a chair for
her. After ensuring she was comfortably seated, the man elegantly took his seat across from her, and they started
eating.
âBy the way.â Sarah frowned and looked up at Cherise. âCherry, what happened to those two girls? Werenât they
supposed to join us for dinner?â
Cherise hesitated slightly and subconsciously turned to look at Frances.
Frances cleared her throat. âMadam, itâs because one of the young ladies was experiencing stomach. discomfort
today. She left in a rush after changing into a servantâs attire.â
Cherise noticed an unmistakable smirk on Sorenâs face as Frances spoke. She frowned slightly and said, âSoren,
take some food for your sister!â
Caught off guard, Soren looked up and was met with Cheriseâs stern gaze. Soren immediately lowered his head
timidly and didnât say another word.
âThose two girls are reallyâ¦â Oblivious to the silent exchange between mother and son, Sarah continued lamenting
as she ate. âThey were so ill but still came here and left in servantâs attire in the end⦠Isnât that quite
embarrassing?â
âIt is.â Cherise nodded in agreement. âBut they should have learned their lesson and wonât do this again.â
Although Sarah felt sorry for the Mortis sisters, they were mere strangers to her. She quickly redirected the
conversation back to Soren and Serafina.
Following a lively dinner, Cherise and Damien accompanied Elvis and Sarah to the car. Cherise had
requested Mr. Kolson to drive her aunt and uncle home. âAunt Sarah. Iâll be in Adania for a while. If you miss me
and the kids, feel free to visit!â Cherise said with a smile as she stood at the door.
âOkay!â Sarah waved enthusiastically, tears welling in her eyes. âIâm glad to hear that. Itâs good to have you
back!â
âGet along with Damien so he wonât come to our house to mope every now and then!â
Cherise was dumbstruck. âAlright, I will.â
Poor Aunt Sarah. It appeared Damien had frequently visited the Shawâs village over the past five years and
unintentionally stressed Sarah out.
With this in mind, she glanced at Damien. âDid you hear that? Youâre not allowed to disturb Uncle Shaw and Aunt
Sarah anymore!â
