Chapter 931
Therefore, aside from feeling a bit disappointed that he was busy, Vicky did not notice anything amiss.
However, with both Harvey and Noah pointing out the subtlety, Vicky realized that she had been too
naive.
That night, Vicky lay alone on the king-size bed, staring at the ceiling until dawn.
âCece, Vicky, I just landed a major client⦠Letâs go out tonight, my treat!â Jennifer, who had just
entered the studio, happily presented the contract she had already signed.
In the past few days, she had secured several significant clients which gave her a strong sense of
accomplishment.
Cece shot her a look, then cautiously glanced in Vickyâs direction.
Somehow, Vicky had fallen asleep with her head resting on the table.
Lately, Vicky has been in a terrible state. Although she never said it out loud, both Cece and Jennifer
could tell that Vicky was in a bad mood. That was precisely the reason why Jennifer wanted to treat
Vicky and help her relax.
Seeing that Vicky was fast asleep, Jennifer gently placed the contract back and whispered, âWhatâs
been going on with Vicky lately? Sheâs not focused at work and has been zoning in and out of it⦠Did
she have another argument with Mister Hart?â
Cece lowered her voice. âProbably⦠Mister Hart hasnât come to pick Vicky up in a long time, and he
hasnât sent her flowers in a while either.â
Jennifer thought of Anthony, so she couldnât help but snort disdainfully, âAll men are the same!â
âHas Anthony been in contact with you recently?â Cece asked.
Jennifer pursed her lips. âApparently, his precious little lover is ill, so he hasnât got the time to bother
me. I didnât see it before, but now I think theyâre quite compatible. They belong together.â
âBut didnât you say his parents disapproved of Lily?â
âYeah, even though Lily is a hypocrite, she did save Anthony. I dont know why, but Anthonyâs parents
have always looked down on Lily. If Anthonyâs father didnât hold some degree of power over him,
Anthony would have gone ahead and married Lily.â
Cece studied Jenniferâs expression. âJennifer, are you really⦠over him?â
Jenniferâs expression froze for a moment. âItâs easy to say that Iâm over him, but you need to know that
we grew up together. Besides with this whole Lily thing⦠Heâs always been good to me⦠My mom and
dad used to tell me that Iâd be Orionâs brideâ¦â She forced a bitter smile. âIt canât be that easy to let go
now, isnât it?â
âDonât you plan on fighting for the relationship?â Cece asked.
âI tried, but I canât sum up to Lily⦠More precisely, I canât fight against Anthonyâs obsession.â
Cece was stunned. âObsession?â
âYeah,â Jennifer said hesitantly. âAnthonyâs parents were always seen as the loving couple, theyâre the
root of everyoneâs envy. Yet, his father was always distant and inexpressive by nature. I only agreed to
give my relationship with Anthony another try because his mother came to speak with me. Anthonyâs
mother fell into a coma after trying to save him from an accident. At that time, Anthonyâs father went
hysterical and resented his son, forbidding him from getting anywhere near his mother. That accident
affected Anthony greatly. After that, his father told him that his mother did not belong to him, and that
he would eventually meet someone who would give her life for him. That person would be the one that
belongs to him.â
She sighed. âHe met Lily when he was sixteen, he thought that she was his destined love and became
obsessed with her. His mother told me that what Anthony feels for Lily isnât love, and that he would
eventually get past the obsession to see what he truly wants.â
Just then, Vickyâs voice rose. âIf he loses the obsession, does it mean that he will no longer feel
anything for Lily?â
