Owen
"Have you finished tying your tie?" My mom yells.
I grunt and throw open the bathroom door, "I can't get it."
Sadie snorts as I walk in, "Men."
I stick my tongue out at her as my mom ties it, "I have to get a picture of you before you leave."
I roll my eyes as she takes out her phone, "Sadie get over here and take a picture with your brother," My mom says.
"Yeah, because he doesn't have a date," Sadie mumbles as she stands beside me.
I poke her side and she breaks out into a fit of giggles. "Alright, I have to go or I will be late," I say after my mom takes ten more pictures.
She nods and gives me a quick hug, "Have fun."
"I will," I say as I hug her back.
I grab my keys and head out the door "Remember pot is a gateway drug," Sadie yells as the door shuts.
I roll my eyes as I walk to my car.

When I arrive at the venue I can already see lights shining out the windows. I sigh, here goes nothing.
Honestly, I didn't want to come tonight, but my friends made me.
As I get out of my car I see Waylon jogging over to me. "Hey gorgeous," He teases.
I laugh, "Hey baby."
Behind him, Lena gags and Caleb laughs. "Nice suit."
I nod towards him, "Nice arm candy."
Lena grins and Calbe glares at me. "Get your own."
I laugh and Waylon swings his arm around me, "He's already got arm candy."
As we make our way towards the building I sigh, "Sorry Way, the long hair is just not doing it for me."
Lena snickers in front of us and Waylon fluffs his locks, "Please, chicks did this."
We pass a group of girls. "Ladies, do you like my hair?" Waylon asks.
None of them respond, but they all wear the same look of disgust.
I pat his shoulder, "Sorry man."
He shrugs, "Nah it's fine, those girls just have a giant stick shoved up their ass."
Caleb lets out a cackel and Lene shakes her head in disapproval.

After a few minutes, I lose my group. Caleb and Lena move to the dance floor and Waylon is on the hunt for a girl without a date.
I am leaning against the wall watching Lainey stand beside Jamie as he talks to his friends.
Every so often Lainey will force a smile or laugh just to seem like she is listening to the conversation.
It also doesn't take me long to realize Jamie has a thing for a girl in his friend group and Lainey is only there to make her jealous.
Whether Lainey knows it or not is beyond me.
A blond girl taps my arm, "Would you like to dance?"
I debate saying yes or no. Part of me wants to, but a bigger part of me doesn't. It's not because she isn't attractive, it's because she isn't Lainey.
"I'm not really into dancing, but that guy with the long hair is," I say pointing at Waylon.
The girl nods and walks in his direction.
While I was talking to the girl Lainey must have left Jamie's side. I find her with Maize and Trey.
As they talk I slowly walk over to them, taking my time to admire her in that damn dress.
I knew Mazie bought the dress she tried on in the store. I guess she could tell by my expression how good it looked.
Right now, she looks like a goddess holding a clear punch glass.
The dress hugs her in a way that should be illegal, and her hair is in a wavy halo around her face. I have never seen her hair so puffy and curly, and I think it is the sexiest thing I have ever seen.
Damn, Jamie is an idiot.
"Would you care to dance with me Lainey baby?" I say softly, as I stop beside her.
She quickly turns and I watch her eyes rake up and down my body. "I guess it can be my act of charity work for the week."
I snort as I take her hand. "Trust me, I can tell you think dancing with me is anything but "charity work"."
Lainey shrugs and we start swaying with the crowd.
"Your date seems preoccupied," I say as I pull her into a turn.
Lainey huffs, "He told me on the way here he is madly in love with his best friend."
My lips twitch and she glares at me, "So, I see you already completed your charity work for the week."
Lainey's head falls back and laughs. "As dick-ish as that comment it's hilarious," she says in-between laughter.
Once she calms down she smiles, "It's okay I didn't like him that way anyway."
I nod and we continue swaying, till the song ends. "I need some air, care to join me?" I ask over the music. Lainey nods and she follows me onto a small balcony, overlooking the parking lot.
I stop beside her as we both lean against the railing. "You look gorgeous."
Lainey turns towards me, "Thank you."
I give her a small smile, "I love your hair."
She laughs as she twirls a curl, "Trey says I look like his mom in the eighties."
We both share a laugh. "It fits your outfit."
Lainey raises her brows, "You don't look too bad yourself."
Something begins to flutter in my chest.
I quickly mask any feelings that may be showing on my face. "Have you had fun at all tonight?" I ask to change the subject.
She sighs, "To be honest I was going to leave, but now I think I want to stay."
"Did I have anything to do with that?" I ask with a grin.
Lainey simply rolls her eyes.
I watch her as she stares at the sky. God, I want to kiss her.
Suddenly, I get an idea, that could backfire on me very badly.
"So Caleb made this bet with me," I say.
Lainey looks at me with raised brows, "What was the bet?"
Here it goes. "He bet you wouldn't kiss me."
I study her face as she stares at me. "Why would he bet that?"
I shrug, "He bet fifty dollars on it."
Lainey nods as if she is thinking it over. "Do you think I will kiss you?"
Her question stumps me, do I say yes and sound cocky or do I say no and hope she kisses me out of sympathy.
"I don't know," I say softly.
Lainey huffs, "If I kiss you I get thirty dollars."
"Thirty," I say with a fake groan.
She nods, "And a free lunch."
I let out a long fake sigh, "Alright."
Lainey steps closer to me and places her hand on my chest, "I'm warning you, this is only going to be a quick peck."
"I know," I say in a dry tone to mask my excitement.
I lower my head, and Lainey takes a shaky breath. "Relax, darling," I breathe against her lips.
She relaxes and presses her lips against mine.
At first, she is hesitant, as if she is about to pull away. I wrap my arms around her and pull her closer causing her to sigh against my lips.
That little noise has me coming unglued. I kiss like I will never get to again.
And Lainey doesn't hold back either.
Till she suddenly freezes and, her lips stop moving against mine. I pull away to find her staring at me with tears filling her beautiful eyes.
