Chapter 1140:

Each word he spoke was a dagger, sharp and merciless.

They hit Hoyt straight in the heart, each blow more painful than the last.

“‘Everything you have now is nothing but a gift from your parents. Even if I’d been dirt poor, I’d never have stooped so low as to shamelessly depend on my father to survive once I became a man. As an illegitimate son, you, more than anyone, know the underhanded tricks you’ve pulled to climb your way up. I don’t need to paint the picture for you.’”

With that, Fabian gave a dismissive wave, as though Hoyt wasn’t even worth the effort.

“‘You can stay in the banquet hall, but keep to the corners and stay quiet. Otherwise, I won’t hesitate to have you thrown out again.’”

Fabian had only permitted Hoyt to stay at the event as a courtesy to Brook.

But who could have imagined Hoyt would act so recklessly?

Determined to honor his promise without stirring up more trouble, Fabian resolved to keep Hoyt entirely out of sight.

“‘How could this happen?’” Hoyt stood there, utterly dumbfounded. He had been so sure that flaunting the Lloyd family name and presenting his gift would pave the way seamlessly.

But now, not only had his business proposal fallen apart, his dignity had been utterly crushed!

Seeing the bodyguards advancing toward him, Hoyt muttered reluctantly, “‘I understand.’”

Awkwardly, he shuffled to a lonely corner of the hall, still clutching the gift.

In the face of such humiliation, Hoyt should have walked out of the event altogether. But Brook had furiously insisted over the phone that he had to remain in the banquet hall that night, no matter what.

And, somehow, he had to find a way to win Fabian over.

But now, he had ruined everything!

Once Hoyt slunk away, Fabian turned to Kellan and said, “‘Mr. Lloyd, it’s an honor to collaborate with you.’”

Kellan gave a nod and extended his hand in agreement.

“‘It’s my honor as well. As the founder of Charisma Company, I look forward to creating something brilliant alongside Dibya Group.’”

This brief exchange felt like yet another gut punch to Hoyt.

Hoyt had leaned heavily on the Lloyd family’s prestige, but Kellan hadn’t even mentioned it. And yet, Fabian openly acknowledged Kellan as the rightful heir to the Lloyd Group!

Fabian offered a knowing smile and said, “‘Back when I was in Vrining, I’d already heard about Charisma Company.’”

His eyes shifted toward Allison with keen interest. “‘And you must be the world-renowned fragrance prodigy, if I’m not mistaken?’” As he spoke, he extended a glass of champagne toward her with effortless elegance.

It was a subtle yet unmistakable gesture of goodwill.

Allison accepted the champagne with a warm smile and remarked, “Mr. Morgan, you’re impressively well-versed in the perfume industry. To be honest, the partnership we’re pursuing today is directly tied to perfume.”
