Chapter 1213:

“I heard from Amya that you’re surrounded by bodyguards, and it seems your actions are being closely monitored,” she added.

She knew Gordon’s nature well—his defiance and thirst for freedom were practically his trademarks.

“It’s nothing I can’t handle. They’re annoying, sure, but they won’t stop me. Like now, I can still talk to you,” Gordon replied, his tone carrying a faint chill.

He knew that those bodyguards were his father’s way of keeping him in check, but he wasn’t one to bow easily. Sooner or later, he’d find a way to shake them off.

“I heard from Amya that you’re planning another trip to Vrining,” Gordon said, abruptly steering the conversation in a different direction.

His brows furrowed slightly.

“Is Kellan in trouble again? Are you cleaning up his mess this time?” Gordon thought back to what had happened in Vrining and felt annoyed. The place was treacherous, dangerously so. Worse, his secret investigation suggested that Ven-uckt might still be alive. That madman was nothing short of a ticking time bomb.

Allison shook her head. “This has nothing to do with Kellan. I’m just looking for clues about my mother.”

Kellan’s voice cut in, cool and indifferent as ever. “Trouble? If anyone’s been causing it, Mr. Herbert, it’s you. If it weren’t for your interference, Allison’s search would have been far simpler.”

Gordon’s expression darkened. “Kellan, do you think you have exclusive rights to Allison?”

“There’s no such thing. We choose to be with each other. That’s all.”

“You are so shameless, as ever.”

Before their argument could escalate, Allison clapped her hands together sharply. “Enough, both of you! I don’t have time to waste on your bickering.”

At her words, both Kellan and Gordon immediately stopped talking.

Her stern tone silenced both men instantly. Kellan leaned back, while Gordon merely crossed his arms with a huff.

“All right,” Allison continued, exhaling sharply. “Gordon, I’ll be visiting Aröme Tower in a few days. It’s a well-known perfume landmark, but first, I need to cut a deal with a perfume factory and cooperate with them.”

Gordon nodded, understanding that she wouldn’t budge on her decision.

If he wanted to stay relevant in her plans, he’d need to prove his worth. “I’ll head to Vrining soon and use the Herbert family’s resources to assist you,” he said with a small smile. “After all, I’ve always been your most reliable assistant.”

He deliberately said these words within Kellan’s hearing.

Although Allison had intentionally adjusted the camera to keep Kellan out of sight, Gordon could already imagine how irritated he must have been. It brought a sly smile to his lips.

Before ending the call, he winked at Allison with a smile. “Allison, I’ll come find you soon.”

Allison exhaled softly, relieved to see that Gordon was in good spirits.
