Chapter 558:
Even Amor was afraid of something after all.
Kylo, however, remained unruffled. âIf itâs true or not, one shot will prove it.â
Heâd been watching Amor all along, allowing her to dig her own grave with every move. He wanted her exposed, stripped of her power in front of everyone.
âOf course⦠no problem,â Amor replied, though her voice wavered, her back drenched in cold sweat.
Her body trembled, her face pale as the reality set in.
Six blanks. Now, the only chamber left held a live round. Allison knew it; there was no escaping it.
Before she could think further, Allison pulled the trigger.
Bangâ!
The gunshot rang through the room, sharp and final. At the last moment, Allison had shifted her aim, sparing Amorâs life by a matter of inches.
Thudâ
The bullet tore into her shoulder.
Amor crumpled to the floor, clutching her wound as a scream tore from her lips. âAaaahhh!â

The sharp sensation left her writhing in pain. The agony was truly unimaginable.
The razor-thin line between life and death was terrifying, and no one felt it more keenly than Amor.
Allison spun the revolver, her gaze hard and unyielding as she looked down at the woman writhing on the floor. âYouâve lost.â There was no sympathy in Allisonâs eyes, only cold calculation.
Amor, who had turned this very weapon on so many others, could never have foreseen the day it would be used against her. Allison hadnât aimed to kill herânot out of mercy, but because she didnât need to. Kyloâs men would handle that.
Clutching her shoulder, Amor winced, her fingers trembling, smearing blood as she fought to rise, to make one last attempt at defiance.
âScarlet Snake,â she gasped, âyou set me up!â
Allison didnât flinch; Amor was right. She had played her hand meticulously, every round in the poker game a trap, each move baiting Amor toward this ruin.
Had Amor known when to fold, she might have escaped. But before Amor could utter another word, the crowdâs jeers swallowed her accusations.
âShe claimed she had always been the winner in foreign casinos? Now itâs clearâsheâs nothing but a cheat!â
âSheâs scammed people for years! What a shameless woman!â
âShe deserves more than a slap on the wrist this time!â
A hush fell as someone whispered, âCarefulâAmorâs close with Mr. Vargas. Maybe losing fingers is the worst thatâll happen.â
No one rose to defend her. Amorâs past treachery was laid bare, her reputation crumbling around her.
