Chapter 626:
âI really like it,â he said.
It made Allisonâs heart thud faster. She could feel his warmth spreading through her, the rush; the thrill. Especially when he said âlikeâ â it felt more like âlove.â
Their eyes met, and it was as though their souls brushed against each other, deeply connected in a way that words couldnât capture. Slowly, Kellan leaned in to kiss her, a consuming, fierce, and possessive kiss. His hand slid to her waist, and as she arched back, anchoring herself, he drew her in until she felt as if sheâd lose herself completely in him. It was deep; passionate.
It was only after a long, breathless moment that he pulled back, his forehead resting against hers, his breath heavy and his eyes dark.
âAllison, you donât have to give me something so precious to prove anything to me.â
Even then, his face held a smoldering wildness. His desire was barely reined in. Their faces were so close it felt like a whisper could ignite them again.
âTo me, just having you by my side is the greatest gift.â
Allison chuckled softly, curling her arms around his neck. âIf a simple black jade ring is enough to keep you bound to me, then Iâd say Iâm getting the better end of the deal.â
With a grin, Kellanâs hand moved to the small of her back, pulling her closer.

âOh, I think itâll take more than just a ring â a kiss is mandatory, at the very least.â
Their lips met once more, another deep and intoxicating kiss drawing them both into a spell they didnât want to break. Above them, the moon cast a soft, silvery glow that illuminated the entwined lovers.
It was well past midnight by the time Allison and Kellan returned to the secluded villa on the hill. The stars still glimmered faintly overhead as they made their way inside.
As she opened the door, Allison caught Kellanâs discerning gaze, an almost comically intense look of appraisal that she couldnât resist poking fun at.
âMr. Lloyd, youâre practically the master of this place now. Feel free to take a good look around.â
Kellan chuckled softly, saying, âI am just⦠intrigued.â
From the moment heâd met her, Allison had been a puzzle he couldnât resist piecing together. The more he learned, the more the pieces slipped from his grasp, until he was caught entirely in her orbit.
Now he stood in the villaâs entrance hall, taking in its sleek design. The black, white, and gray palette gave off a cold, detached, and rational vibe. It actually mirrored his style quite well.
Allison watched him take it all in, the barest hint of amusement lighting her face.
âSo, what do you think?â
âItâs a solid design,â he remarked, eyes scanning the space with approval. âAnd once we move in, it will feel even more different.â He just had to emphasize the word âwe.â
Allison had to admit that this little trick of his was indeed charming.
